Lol. I totally agree but it is impossible in this world of tech permissions. Once I connect my computer to the internet and start using apps its all over.

I forgot but I did make an RP character Twitter account (which I frequently forget about). Yet I made it so I could make a tiktok thread for Juspion lol

This is actually what I was thinking of (I mean, yes the Blizzard culture was a bad thing before Kotick too).

Let’s say Kotick leaves.
Let’s say Blizzard cleans itself up.

But the company is still under pressure to out perform every yearly quarter, and I can’t see them taking time to improve the game/franchise when they’re so focused on short term gains.

If not Kotick, I have to assume the next person will be expected to do this as well.

Its all pr crap. I don’t buy a single word that they said. The fact that they did nothing about the disgusting behavior of their management until it started costing them money shows us what they only care about

I also agree with you that even IF they clean the company up and start anew. Who ever comes in next will have some big shoes to fill in

Weird that an increased emphasis on making money always seems to lead to this!

I thought the profit motive would drive everyone to innovate and make the best possible products!

Why isn’t the invisible hand of the free market working?

WrA has a pretty seedy underside, too.

One time I even said a cuss during RP.

I used to openly RP a Fel Orc

I too have been known to violate the statutes of man, and not a few of the laws of the Almighty.

my mom’s new kitten’s behavior is a symptom of Blizzard’s lacking morals.

the kitten managed to steal a turkey leg and drag it up a set of stairs.

Its been a hot minute and I’m not realy sure what exactly happened at this tourny in Spain or what was actually worn/displayed. (Again, spain. I’m abit unfamiliar with whatever ick-groups they got over there nowadays) Seems pretty ‘well DUH’ with the statement.

God don’t I know it, Ill admit I played the ‘who has the most doofyest trp’ if i’m bored but honestly I don’t read them unless I want like one or two pieces of info and just rp. kinda bored of that sort of drama myself. I also agree with your ‘they’re doing it for the pr’ because ‘ofcourse they are.’ Got to save there asses and fill in those pointless quotas, less capitalism and more bureaucracy and other time wasting nonsence that is just meant to bore people and fill in busyness work for pointless nonsense. Such is life it seems.

Basically dude came in full regalia with matching army, signed up under the name “The Austrian Painter”, and the Tournament Organizers not only didn’t immediately kick him out but actually awarded him wins when all of his opponents refused to play him.

But it’s mostly how there is a very vocal subset of the community that not only sees nothing wrong with this, but unironically argues that the situation of the game’s lore is not only a perfectly valid way to live, but also the only way to live in response to the various horrors of the grim darkness of the far future.

TL;DR version - GW’s trying to be more inclusive and open with the brand, and its getting pushback from people who seem to believe Warhammer is escapism for extremism.

Shout out to the reason I don’t play 40K anymore, and that was finding out the generally unpleasant guy who ran the only store within driving distance in my podunk backwater of a childhood being an unapologetic, symbol tattooed extremist who berated POC and female players (the unicorns of unicorns) until they left his store.

His store closed down but now he runs a “historical wargaming” store instead which to the surprise of no one boasts an entire “meet the customers / community” page that’s nothing but angry old white bikers.

$500-600 in Imperial Guard and Chaos miniatures boxed up and sent off to my mate going to college who’d actually get to play without giving money to a hatemonger.

Never was able to get back into it, just played the vidya james instead.

[Edit] Oh hey I looked him up and got a bunch of domestic abuse case pings, appeals, restraining orders and threats to slice open his ex-wife’s throat. Big Gamer energy.

-googles quickly- OOoohh Allright I see, If I didn’t know better the left symbol on his shirt would look like chaos and the other technically old pagan symbol for sun but unfortunately ‘nope that’s just naughty no-no symbols lad, shame’ Odd that the organizers didn’t kick him straight away making me think they didn’t know? but that wouldn’t make sense at all. Seems like incompetence all around but oh well, old news. (Don’t know whats up with that book other than a more formal ‘man in the high tower’ sort of literature but yeah lad should know better)

Not like your around the lad any more and held back to poke your nose into some of the lore but aye fair enough. Surprised he wasen’t fired earlier for ‘customer harassment’, if your going to play HR/corporate games you might as well use language they’ll understand and they WILL understand ‘oh no this employee is losing us money by harassing customers and making other employees unsafe’. Buuuut sometimes corporate don’t care as you mentioned the re-hiring nonsence. :unamused: Shame he didn’t stay in prison permanently one way or the other.

I suspect the store is owned and operated by the douche nozzle so there’s no corporate or HR you can report him too. That’s usually the case with a lot of these game stores, they’re usually independent retailers.

Fortunately I live in a pretty liberal city, so the game stores around here are fairly well run and don’t tolerate this kinda behavior. Yet I can just drive a few miles out and probably find a store that would likely treat me and my partner like garbage and there’s nothing you can really do about it except not go there anymore. I’m fortunate that I do have options to go elsewhere but like in Opherial’s case, they don’t and just had to quit altogether instead of putting up with the abuse.

Mechwarrior/Battletech community is going through something similar it seems. My partner and friends play so I’ve been hearing about some right wing internet gamer personalities suddenly super interested in MWO and Battletech because oh no you can choose non-binary as your gender in the RTS. Which is old news but I guess they just found out about this lol.

The thing is about people coming into Warhammer and bringing politics in it is that. Nobody wants real world politics in a fantasy world. If you ever speak to a lot of Warhammer fans you’d probably be suprised that they hated that people put Trump’s face onto the god emperor because nobody in the community wanted the drama to tear apart the community. In my experience, a lot of people in the Warhammer community just wanna enjoy the lore of the universe the same way Warcraft players do.

A lot of Warhammer youtubers make fun of people who push the extermist idea and laugh at them. Just watch Majorkill’s video on Archwarhammer

That’s probably Warhammer related run off. There was a “boycott” earlier this year after GW had the audacity to hire a whole lot of incredibly talented fan animators prior to launching its streaming service and then issue updated IP guidelines that discourage fan animations (like how they used to discourage tattoos. Unenforcible stuff but legally necessary yadayada).

A bunch of folks decided on Battletech because…??? (Seriously, its tabletop excel. Not knocking it but I legitimately dont know why they went there instead of say Infinity or Star Wars Legions). Battletech content creators saw the oppertunity and took it, courting those folks.

So now enough time has passed these “refugees” are discovering their “promised land” also isnt the extremist paradise they so desperately crave.

To be fair, it wasnt all that long ago Majorkill was one on Warhammer’s “problem children”. At least he grew up, unlike Arch and Gazma.
