I hate drama

I get that, but at the same time that’s kind of their role in 40k. The problem with 40k is it’s not as narrative driven as Fantasy/AoS. Hell, it was only 4 years ago that the Black Crusade event from 20 years ago was moved on from (and then we went from 150 years after to a mere 12 years after in the span of an edition).

Since there’s no overall narrative like the Necroquake or Broken Realms literally shaking up the status quo (Psychic Awakening was a wet fart lore-wise, let’s be honest), the factions kind of devolve into archtypes.

The Imperium is the central narrative focus because they are the humans (Though given recent events and statements put out by GW, I do wonder how that will change going forward since there’s a real problem with certain individuals who don’t read the satire).

The Eldar are the fading echo of glories past. They’re never going to get a big Win because they’re not really designed to get big Wins. What’s a Craftworld going to do, start colonizing? They’re still a doomed race shackled to Slaanesh that still have to harvest spirit stones from the Crone Worlds in order to protect themselves after death. They’d be a more minimal galactic presence than the Tau.

Doesn’t mean they haven’t been done dirty, though. The Ynnari were basically just the trial run of what happened to the Ironjawz and Kruelboyz of AoS (and probably what’s going to happen with the Disposessed/Kharadron Overlords/Fyreslayers) and Blood of the Phoenix basically turned them into a pointless death cult. The Harlequins are a line of models that look on with envy the range diversity of aforementioned Fyreslayers. The Drukhari are…there. I expected Vect declaring himself a Dark Muse to at least warrant a new centerpiece model a la Guilliman or the Silent King.

At least the Craftworlds are in all likelihood seeing their much needed range refresh next year. That Avatar of Khaine’s been fighting since Second Edition, the poor lad.

Lmao, you get a heart

I honestly thought that about Vect as well. Perhaps they just haven’t decided what to do with the El Presidente of Commoragh. He’s by far one of my favorite characters, especially in the dark eldar series of novels when he trolls Archons trying to overthrow him. Or sometimes just for the lulz. My favorite quote from 40k belongs to him

“Some of you thought me dead. Some of you even willed it. Now you gather here at the Nexus to offer me feigned respect. But now you see clearly, that my will can never be denied. My favor can never be regained, and my wrath can never be tempered. Know regardless if you were loyal or a traitor, you will be slaughtered. As it is only fit that a god be honored with a sacrifice. Know if I deign to resurrect you. You shall serve me through deeds. Or by suffering.”

Vect is Sylvanas but without the need of a redemption arc.

After finally finishing Star Wars Rebels…

Thrawn is the only Imperial I’d wish to serve under.

Vect knows the kind of person he is. He doesn’t care about ‘morals’ or is beholden to strict set of ideas. He is a great character. One that is sadly not utilized enough as I would like

“Lord Vect, a portion of your people are grafting Tyranid body parts onto themselves. We believe they may have become…infected.”

“Are they still loyal to me?”

“For the moment. They seem to be fighting against elements who are opposed to your rule.”

“Send them troops, weapons, and slaves with my compliments.”

Vect is great. He just doesn’t care.

Same but only if I can call him Papa Smurf

I have to assume Thrawn’s television appearances are different from his novel appearances.

Because in the novels he’s an insufferable Mary Sue who is simultaneously so ridiculously perceptive as to gauge the exact governmental type of a first contact species (Namely his with the Empire) but also their likely mission to his home world based on nothing but bulkhead designs and archways…and also so dense as to be assassinated on his own bridge by a Darth Vader look-alike.

I never read the novels he was involved in x.x

I personally liked his appearance in Rebels since he was the poster-boy example of what Lawful Evil is meant to be. He rewards his followers, treats their failures as lessons they will learn from and doesn’t do blatantly stupid actions.

All while being genuinely menacing cause he out-thought the opponent in a manner we get to see.

Also, his theme music is good.

In the novels, he gets more insufferable the more novels he turns up in. Which is ironic, since said novels are inevitably prequel books of his, since he dies at the end of the trilogy of novels he initially appears in (Which was for a long time the “Unofficial Sequel Trilogy”).

I mean, I was with them about how we can’t just pin this all on Kotick and assume things will be fine once he’s gone, because some problems are deeper than even him, but then this took a weird turn into yikes territory.

Kotick is a symptom.
He is not actually the disease.
The disease, sad to say, is the entire culture within Blizzard that existed long before Kotick and Activision entered the picture.

It’s time to accept the fact the Blizzard of Old had a lot of mold and rot in its foundations.

Wra AND mg both have that problem but found mg to have a bigger under-layer of disgusting stuff, Like that ‘secrets blog’, you know the one. Had my displeasure of looking at it after months of not doing so only to see the filth they spray on Lad’s day. GG, dwarken isn’t going to :duck: you guys.

God I wish I was you… I kid I don’t have an account on ither but still read tumblr’s as seen above. Guess I’m addicted to trash. :weary:

Like GW themselves lol? still blows my mind people can look at 40k and go ‘SUPER SERIAL GUIES!!’ and not actually be ‘ha ha, pew pew for the emperor, bluh I died of phychers haha’ (Still mad at what they did to itEhTts)

Yeah, Blizz dose have deeper problems than Bobby but it don’t hurt to show him to the door. All in favor to call him ‘Sloppy Bobby?’ -raises hand-

Yeah no, GW actually put out a pretty strongly worded statement after a pretty odious incident at a non-GW tournament in Spain.

This is the same guy who sent a disloyal Archon a black hole in a jeweled casket as a gift. I am pretty sure he has surpassed Tzeentch and Trazyn in the trolling department

Some people think the same of WoW. I honestly just think WoW’s lore has its good and bad parts like Warhammer. Warcraft’s just isn’t in my taste.

I also agree with you on the drama part. I come to rp, to escape from the dumpster fire of real life. Not to be harassed cause someone took five words out of a ten paragraph sentence and post it saying something like “Look at this degenerate who dares play a morally questionable character in a world that isn’t ours and commits atrocities against people who don’t exist. Destroy their rp career and harass them to the point of mental breakdown and paranoia and ignore any attempts for them to defend themselves.”
