Blizzard thinks they can bump the time played metrics with 25 conquest rewards per win and 120k honor grinds for alts
Well jokes on you blizz I’m outta here ^_-
Meta is unbearable
Gearing alts biggest waste of time considering the tuning of specs and pace of the game
I wouldn’t say it was worse than bfa cuz that’s the least fun I’ve ever had but coming off of bfa I just don’t have the tolerance for what I consider very low effort from the PvP dev team.
Can’t be bothered playing the same 3 PvP talents for another 6 years
Can’t be bothered doing random chore content hamster wheel stuff for minor upgrades
Can’t be bothered grinding gear for alts without any interesting gearing like tier sets or bonuses
Grinding out hours of content to go from 19% crit to 21% crit just to watch a Ret / warrior playin the current content the way they do isn’t fun
This will probably be me next season when they nerf PvP gear into the dirt because of all the outrage and we’re back to dungeons/raids for competitive gear
This entire post is on point.
I don’t know if its that I’ve gotten older and just can’t justify to myself sitting here frying my eyes grinding meaningless pixels but I just don’t have a tolerance for obvious mechanics that are only there to increase the time played metric.
The Maw is another massive example of something that ONLY exists to increase time played metrics. The rewards are tied to borrowed power in the form of conduits and sockets (something we used to just get on our gear baseline up until WoD). The activities in the Maw alternative between mindlessly boring and incredibly frustrating.
That’s my little addition to your wonderful list of why this game sucks right now. Haven’t logged in for about a week now. This may be first season since Legion that I don’t even attempt to get Gladiator.
Jokes on you, this type of posts has been around for ages. Most people always come back even when it sucks. WoW is making record-breaking numbers to this day.
Most of the people on here crying aren’t actually going to quit because they don’t have anything else to do because their horrible at other games too.
Cool take but, if you know anything about stickirikki he’s sat through some truly horrendous times for his spec and done nothing but try to persevere through it. He went an entire expansion where his spec was in the meta for exactly two weeks the entire expansion. For the game to have become unplayable now then it has REALLY gotten bad.
I do agree it’s definitely better than BFA, and I understand that the chores required are pretty annoying… but the way I see it, atleast it’s accessible. Atleast you don’t need to PvE. If I wanted to make an alt in BFA, there was 0 chance I’d catch up on that character’s gear in any given season, because I didn’t have a clique of pve friends to run me through stuff. At least now, I know I can grind up to 1800 in LFG and get around 220+ in a few weeks basically on my own with LFG, have a decent ilvl legendary, and decent conduits.
I thought it was cuz I was older but then I realize when outriders drops in 10 days I’ll be spam playing that which has a dev team that listens to the player base and updated lots of things based on feedback on a demo for a game that hasn’t even dropped yet
Tier sets for gear , old talent tree like systems
Engaging class design that prolly won’t be me playing the same watered down class for 9 years
Diff type of game but my god it’s a breath of fresh air to see devs talk to their customers like people and explain stuff and not ignore an entire playerbase
I think the issue I have with any grind for wow is that the classes are no longer fun for play.
Having the same stuff for 8+ years kills any creative theorycrafting what if’s
Customization on gear same thing.
Bote 1 shot ele was fun cuz it was diff from what the avg person would enjoy from ele
With the current lack of creativity from devs for pve talents and a PvP talent system that’s seen 0 effective changes in 6 years my creative interest in the games all but dead.
There was a recent post on the wowpvp subreddit discussing participation.
The highlights are this:
A) 3v3 participation in both NA and EU have fallen 70% from the first two weeks of the season
B) 70% of players are currently sitting at or under 1400 in 2v2
The game is strongly discouraging players to keep playing in its current state. I don’t know how they fix it but it’s pretty obvious that its not just one specific issue but a plethora.
Don’t blame you bro. Friends of mine came back to the game today after quitting early in the season (multi glads) and they got absolutely farmed @ 1500 with low ilvl gear and no way of gearing because every game they got W key’d by ret war.
I’m hard pressed to say this is worse than BFA because BFA was a joke but this is actually just as bad as BFA in a different way.
Idk even when I had poorly geared alts in BFA I sort of felt like I could still play the game and maybe out play people to win. Now it feels impossible.
I log on less. This game is boring tbh.
When I do log on I just run random BGs.
I have 220 gear so it’s fine, but I probably wouldn’t log on if I didn’t.
I hear you on Dev communication. We get nothing on the PvP player end but “funny” jokes from developers every once in awhile.
A game I’ve taken a really strong liking to is Age of Empires II. The developers have active forums and are constantly pushing new balance patches. They privately contact their pro-players and get input from them. They fund large tournaments with prizepools in the excess of 50K before any crowdfunding. It’s insane to me a game that costs $20 (and no subscription fee) and has 1/20 the player base of WoW gets all that.
Meanwhile we pay $15 a month and $40 every 2 years to play a game where we get none of that.
