In this Wowhead article it says dracthyr will only have access to shoulder, belt and tabard options. All other dracthyr armor appearances will be barber shop options.
This feels bad. It doesn’t matter that we can mog our humanoid form, like worgen players, most dracthyr players will spend most of their time in dracthyr form and basically won’t have access to mogging. I could understand not being able to use helms (though nevering having glasses on my dragon is such a sad thought) and cloaks, but to not make all the other armor items work on them… I dunno, man. That feels kinda bad.
It’s also shortsighted. If they put in the effort to make armor work on them it’ll work for the rest of the game going forward. If they don’t, then people will be frustrated by the lack of options and they’ll have to keep adding new dracthyr armor options to the barber shop (which you know they’ll do at a trickle, if at all, after Dragonflight ends).
Bite the bullet, Blizz, save yourself a headache for the rest of the life of the game, put in the work now to make armor work on dracthyr.
I was hoping there was more customization than shown which is good.
But do they mean that the shoulder armor and belt are things we can transmog on in dracthyr form or is that controlled at the barber shop and limited to whatever they make specifically for this.
If transmog shoulders are available, that’s cool. If it’s ALL limited to the barber shop, that sounds cool until I consider that there probably won’t be nearly enough options and it’ll all be in whatever art style they’re doing this expansion which some people may or may not like.
“You can even slightly change your torso to be like slightly more slender or slightly bulkier; and the armor that you wear is a type of armor that you will be able to customize at the Barbershop, too. So Dracthyr, I think they’ll also be able to wear shoulders, tabards, belts across their visage and Dracthyr form. While the visage form is able to wear all-armor.”
Shoulders, tabards and belts are moggable in scales, human form can wear all mail mogs not class specific and the chest armor in scales is selected at the barber shop.
I totally get the no cloaks, I can see that being a mess of wing clipping, particularly with all of the new back models.
I cannot understand the other limitations. They don’t look like it’d be any more work to give them pants than worgen. Same for gloves, the undead already have their claws sticking out. And why no chest piece other than tabards? Because their tabards have this unique model with the back exposed? (which is a cool thing, mind you).
Let me hide my chest piece if I’m bothered by the wing base clipping through and let me otherwise chose to show it. It’s not like there are a lot of 3D models for them to worry about, particularly with mail armor.
That’s how I understand it. All other armor is barber shop options.
Yeah, that’s the problem. No matter how many options they add to the barber shop it’ll be a drop in the ocean compared to mogging. And dracs will be stuck with the barber shop options for as long as the game lasts. It’s very restrictive and I think it’s just going to cause frustration going forward. Better to nip it in the bud and make armor work on them now.
Agreed completely. There’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to fit existing gear on this model. Cut off the shoes at the ankle, let the claws poke through, horns clip through helms just like they do for literally every other race with elongated snouts and/or horns…
Oh cool, their taking that super successful feature from mechagnomes that the playerbase clearly voiced their satisfaction with and are running with it.
At least we know they listen and are finally taking feedback seriously.
Speedo aside, I didn’t even mind it on mechagnome… After all, I really couldn’t see them wearing sleeves or pants with those things, but I can clearly picture in my head the pants wrapping around Dracthyr legs.
I assume the mogging will only apply to humanoid form? But ya, I will be ok with dragonlizard form not having mog. I may take some getting used to, can’t wait to try the class though.
If they weren’t based on the worgen model I could agree. But they’re humanoids not, like, bears. There’s just no reason why most armor slots shouldn’t work on them. And because they’re humanoid and there’s no good reason why most armor shouldn’t work on them, players are just going to be frustrated by not being able to use mogging on their drac form.
I completely agree here. Blizzard what is the point in designing cool tier sets and everything in the future for Evoker if you can’t even see them when you’re in combat?
Either make everything but the cloak fit the model if we’re going to be forced to do combat in the forms.
or let us do combat in the humanoid form and just turn into a drake like some sorta Metamorphosis on some abilities. A lot of people seem to like the class/race idea but you guys are sorta killing a lot of the fun cosmetically by only showing shoulders and belts on them. May as well just mog nothing
has nothing to do with technical ability to do it. they chose not to do it due to it being a dragon hybrid taking inspiration form the current dragons. they have armor in human form, not in dragon form.
just like druids, if you like having your armor in combat, play a different class. that is the primary reason i dont play druid
