About a week ago I submitted an appeal for a silence. I also asked in the ticket why I got silenced and I clearly stated I got no email.
A GM just answered my ticket (half an hour ago) and only said “the penalty is deserved”. That still hasn’t answered my question. I’ve been trying to resubmit another ticket but it says “I have the maximum of active tickets” while all mine are solved.
Can I at least get the emails with the info? If I deserved it, it’s fine, at least inform me why and how long.
Good morning! I can answer the question about why they did not tell you anything about your Warning. The reason is because GMs can not see what you were warned for. There is no email generated and no record that is preserved at the GM level. It is just a simple warning to let you know other players have reported you so you can stop whatever you are doing before it reaches a GM. Often it is advertising/spamming that folks dislike and report.
If you are reported several times in World of Warcraft for violating the in-game rules, the game will send you a warning letting you know that you will need to be careful or you may get a silence or suspension in game. This is completely automated and cannot be seen or modified by Customer Support. If you receive one of these warnings, it is recommended that you make sure you are adhering to the In-Game Code of Conduct.
If your warning leads to a silence or suspension, you can submit an appeal and Customer Support will be able to review the reports that were made against your account at that time.
Also note, the warning is account wide to the reported activity could be on a diff char or in a diff version of the game (retail vs Classic).
I can understand GM’s cannot see what I’ve been warned for, but there should be an email generated. when I try to talk in general chats in-game it says “We have temporarily suspended your chat and mail privileges. Check your email for more details”.
I understand the silence is account wide, but there was no warning nor additional information when I got silenced. I discovered I got silenced a week ago in-game and I have no idea how long it’s going to take.
Ah then we are talking about two different things. The Warning is just that, an automated Warning with no records or email that goes with it.
The penalty you got is called a Silence. It is used for a first time offense on an account and usually lasts about a week. You should have gotten an email telling you that you were Silenced and the duration. Check your Spam and Promotions folders if you don’t see it in the main inbox.
Unfortunately the original email that you should have gotten, no longer contains the text snippets. When you appeal, you can ask for a snippet of the text around the time that the offense occurred and was reported. That might jog your memory.
Yes, but I have not gotten that email. I’ve checked all the possible folders it could’ve gotten into but it’s not there.
I’ve also made it abundantly clear in the ticket I’ve submitted that I have not gotten an email and the GM said “it’s deserved” and closed the ticket. No further info given. No questions answered.
I stated in the ticket; “I’ve checked my email, there was no email” and the GM answered it like it was a copy-paste message.
“Please refer to the previous Email sent to you for more information about it.”
I’d understand if I was rightfully silenced because of maybe advertising a bit too much in trade chat (A theory) but the gm not actually thoroughly reading my ticket annoys me a bit. Especially after a response time of 6 days.
Im sure a blue can provide some clarification when they come in
Sometimes the email gets delayed in batch sending or the player’s email spam filter eats it - or shuffles it to a sub category.
As Darth said, hopefully when the Blues get in they can give you the general category. You are probably right that it is Spam if you were advertising a lot.
Keep in mind the replies are done using templates, not hand typed responses that are customized. Usually something along the lines of it being upheld, or overturned with an apology. Sometimes a reply about specialist escalation.
I realize that does not feel good when you are trying to sort out what happened to your account!
I have many suggestions too on how they can improve things, but this is not the place for suggestions. They don’t reach the Web team.
The email is usually a general notice, it usually doesn’t include specifics on what you may have been penalized for.
Looking over the recent reports I do see several reports of using inappropriate language. Maybe avoid using 4 letter expletives that start with F when communicating in public.
There is also some advertisements for enchanting. Which by themselves isn’t usually an issue, but you seem to do your advertisement in several channels at the same time, which amounts to spamming. Maybe stick to the one.
Ah perfect, thank you for letting me know that after a week of being cut off from general chats what exactly I’ve been silenced for.
Still doesn’t answer the question I’ve been asking here about why I haven’t received the e-mail but alas. The in-game message makes it sound like there should be more details in that e-mail. because it says “Check your email for more details”.
I will also be more wary of the language I use and my advertising habits. Thanks for the update
That was already answered:
There are times it might also just end up blocked completely somewhere along the path, but no one can know for sure.
then the batch sending of emails should be more frequent, as I’ve been checking my email folders daily since the silence.
There is a bit of a known issue with emails being borked in some cases. Or at least there was as of 15 days ago. Apparently, it’s not been fixed. Or hadn’t been when you were initially sanctioned.
