Warlock Legion Class Mounts have had their ground running animation busted to be the same as their flying animation (can’t find any other flying horses that are the same as of yet) for years. First it was only the purple one, but sometime in the last year or so all 3 of them were changed. Of course, there’s the chance it was done on purpose, but if so…ew
Dynamic flying requires animations so you can easily tell where you are at in the process.
Not every flying mount even has animations or the possibility of animations being added without massive changes to the mount.
(Thinking disk)
The magic carpet is one of the ones where dragon riding makes the least sense. It’s a magic carpet, it’s one of the very few mounts that actually makes sense as a sky-swimmer
I don’t know if that’s really a counter point, looking at those animations just confirms what I believe.
Dynamic flying with magic carpet would look goofy.
Also, you just opened up the floodgates on the “Dineyfication” of wow lol
Time to take that love rocket out for a ride.
that has to be the most honest, common sense thing they’ve said all year… the wow community lmao always crying
I don’t see the problem with having mounts look stupid in terms of animation with dynamic flying because a lot of them look stupid doing regular flying. Like every flying horse or cat, it’s just walking in the sky, it looks riduclous. If that’s passable for Blizzard then I’m sure they can make the Tazavesh Glider thing go faster and have extra wind next to it or something.
Not sure where we stand with the flying carpets? But that’s potentially a REALLY cool addition to dynamic flying. Imagine accelerating and having the edges of the carpet fly up, ripping through the air. If that’s not on there, a missed opportunity IMO.
I mean if OP understood how 3D modeling worked then why wouldn’t really be a question.
We’re lucky they’re even going back and adding the ability to old mounts. That means they either A) proactively knew they’d be doing this sometime down the line and used the same prior model (Or updated all of the models), or B) are putting in the work now.
Either way, they’re doing what it takes to give us more options. You can call it the lazy way but the reality is giving ALL mounts DR is the hard hard hard money costing way. The “Expansion Feature” way.
Just keep in mind that 700 people work on WoW. Every day.
Yeah and those 700 people are working on the new expansion under extremely tight schedules.
Yea, and this is a feature coming in the new expansion, that’s my entire point.
Literally a box feature…
That’s a valid point. Y’know what else is a valid point? Selective expansion features.
We’re not getting housing any time soon, maybe ever. All mounts capable of DR could very well be the same (In any reasonable timeframe).
Yea I suppose so. I don’t care personally about player housing, or alied races, or race/class combos. I would rather them balance classes than do anything else. And maybe add more than 4 zones and 8 dungeons. But w/e, we all have our wants.
I don’t really take an issue with people being mad or disappointed with it, it is disappointing news.
but stop asking why like you don’t already know the answer is cost.
“There LiTeRAlLy 0 reason for…”
Nah there’s reasons, you just don’t like them.
How the hecko did that happened?
…Maybe you haven’t considered the reason they gave was circular, or doesn’t make sense in the context of this game, and therefore, not satisfactory?
I can easily tell where i’m at in with the bars (Or vigors, i’m running with WA addon that shows me momentum, speed, vigor) they included. Infact, i can only tell where i’m at in with the vigor they included.
The times i do pay attention to what my mount is doing (well the times if they just fly all over the screen in distracting ways and such), i just see my dragon jut back/forth, snap to another animation and so on, making it hard to understand what am i doing visually.
A Ton of things in WoW looks goofy tbh. WoW has never really been about realism or believably even as of late.
Exactly.
Especially since the community never had a problem with mounts that looked goofy.
I understand it takes time, there’s no doubt about it. They take 5 years to complete this and i wouldn’t mind.
My Point is more or less on “this seems odd to worry about the mount’s looks at this point and time”. Given i’ve bought up the Goldfish mount.
…Except i don’t know the exact answer(s) here.
This is my first time learning about this restriction, since i don’t really keep up with news with the game.
I’ve never said or even implied that…
And the post isn’t talking about the cost or time. Question is only with “why are you worried about how the mounts look if you didn’t in the first place?”
it probably means they need to put in the resource to create new unique animations for mounts like the carpet and they just have not gotten to that point.
Unless you want them to just slap on the animations u usually have in dragon mounts on the carpet or mounts without wings and make it look janky af
Awww… not sure why the image isn’t appearing.
I use ground mounts whenever I’m in a dungeon that allows ground mounts.
So they’re going to be lazy and not work on new animations?
Actually, I’m not surprised or even mad. How is this news? They’ve reused the Goblin skeleton and animations for three other races already!
