"Not every mount is going to be dynamic flight enabled due to animation issues," ..Why?

First time meeting Bari?

I’d rather use my regular flying mounts over DR.

Personal choice.

I worked hard for all of mine aswell.

Some I even paid real money for.
So I’d rather not lose any of them to regular flying being locked for parts of expansions.

Honestly I can’t see why it’s even legal to take my real cash money for a mount then restrict it’s use for certain time periods during expansions when other flying mounts are usable.

Oh no, are disc mounts not getting dynamic? That’s lame. It would have been like some ultra rad sky surfing.

I guess it makes sense though. These aren’t creatures gliding on air currents. They’re literally magic. Still though, i love using them, and without the obviously superior dynamic flight I’m going to have very little reason to do so.

But that’s what interns are for!
Not joking. Just hire 1 more intern. They’re minimum wage, have TONS of skill usually, and want to prove themselves.
They just need guidance on how to apply that skill to the workspace and things like that.

Let’s look at some of the mounts that would possibly be difficult to incorporate gimmick flight for:

  • Stormwind Skychaser
  • Depleted Kyparium Rocket - in fact, any of the rocket mounts
  • the Pandaren Kites
  • Mechanized Lumber Extractor/Sky Golem (these would particularly be nuts given the weird flight style they already have.
  • Mimiron’s Jumpjets
  • Red Flying Cloud

etc

and these are just a few I sourced in a few minutes’ browsing. Could they made to fly faster? Sure, any of them could but its not just about speed, is it. Its using the whole dynamic flying systems. Not sure how the Stormwind Skychaser would do if they allowed regular mounts to do races, it would certainly be interesting to watch.

This is what they also said way back when updated character models were first released. “These models would never work on older versions of World of Warcraft because of moving parts like animated bone”

Yet a month later they were ported over to WotLK and worked amazingly.

Mechanical mounts could possibly work if you see the vigor as booster-fuel instead. And burning through a lot of it will make you slower again.
The Golem would finally fly straight. but
 not. XD

No, Wrath classic still uses the old character models.

Its not so much about the logic (logic can be generated with the right bit of imagination) its just the flying style. Even some of the ones I mentioned might be adapted in time, since they do have angled flight when rising and falling. But I suspect it will take more time for some of the models and rather than hold the flight style back, they’ll just activate it for the ones that are fairly simple to do. All the regular drakes/dragons for example, and anything with wings should work the best.

hmm those are can easily be converted, animation wise. (instead of the idea of having a swinging dragon with its wings, they can just pretend and put fx around ur mount(rocket boost with nitro flame going out in its end to speed it up), lots of work and cost but can be done). the only problem that i see are horses without wings lol or any mounts that doesn’t have wings but with 4 legs.

anything that can fly can easily be integrated with logical, or close enough to reality animation.

they either have to make a charge animation like horse animated effect when dashing foward or long jump dash when flying then followed by animated run

for horse and other four legs, instead of having an animated wings, they might just animate your character instead and putting fx around your mount.

animators are creative, they’ll find way  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RrDgyLkC8Q

Wrath of the Lich King is developed outside of Blizzard on private servers.
While I don’t play private servers, the development on them and character models proves what Blizzard is saying just false and lazy.

As if pirate servers are in any way relevant to this.

Open your mind for just a second please, because they are.

WoD character models would NEVER work on older versions of wow because of ANIMATION ISSUES, just like these mounts.

Lo’ and behold, some basement developers got them working JUST fine.

Blizzard is a lazy company.

Some “basement dev getting them working” is a far cry from being able to pass it to your team lead as an acceptable finished product. And it was probably never a matter of actually getting those old models to work, but rather one of not wanting to invest the time required in stuff that doesn’t match the game’s aesthetic anymore.

As for this dynamic flight stuff. I’ll reserve judgement until we know which mounts can/can’t use it. It would be a huge mistake to not make sure that the iconic but unconventional ones (like Mimiron’s Head) are available. But at the same time I would be entirely unsurprised if they didn’t try to get stuff like the Jaina, jellyfish, and Shadowlands KSM mounts to work right away.

Citation needed, please.

a box with 8 vertices is enough to be animated, with just having the dragonflight effects around it lel , they can just deform some of the surfaces

Because they already said why. Animation issues.

It’s complaining because it’s like when my kids don’t like a reason I gave them for saying no to something and keep asking why

Blizzard seems to have a thing for flight animation. I remember when they “fixed” the flying animation for that wolf mount in ZM.

lol
 no

Can the warframe and other mech style mounts do it? Because they’d look coolest

Just flare the engines and do the loop-de-loop animation
