nono the fact there was no BGs or honor system for the first phase of classic is totally just a coincidence.

The big thing now is cata, then its going to be sod then its going to be retail and repeat that’s the cycle going on for subs.
If you legit hope for more than a 2 month content for a dad outside retail you will be frustrated.

I disagree. I dont think that SOD is dead. But SOD BGs and PvP will be dead.
When people come back, they will comeback and most will be horde min maxxing for racials and raiding with shamans… and disinterested in pvp alliance.
For me the pve content is so EASY its boring I do it as the chore for the game that is pvp open world or in bgs.
sadly, through no fault of my own, the balance has forced the majority of pvp mined players to horde.
In cata classic its the complete opposite with Ally dominating almost every bg and each season of wrath was majority ally held gladiator titles. This isnt some coincidence… over powered racials attract good players who arent trying to lose because of the color of their characters skin.
Their will be a few week honeymoon of everyone rushing AV for rep and people will falsely believe that things have changed and horde queues are even. This wont last once folks hit exalted and get their ranks.
WE KNOW alliance dont even like pvp because the biggest server rn on IF pro is Wildgrowth US… and its 2/3s Ally.

I’m not even sure that a majority of alliance players came into this game not wanting to pvp, I’m sure there are a good amount of pve only andies but when the faction dominance is so stacked against you, it’s so demoralizing to lose so damn much and have a faction specific class dominate for 2 whole phases with no end in sight that it’s like, why even bother?
I played SoD for the exact same reason you do, to get gear to be a roaming gigachad destroyer in wpvp and que some BGs because it should be less sweaty than fighting adderall fueled demon hunters in retail arena
I still had fun in wpvp despite alliance getting wrecked most BGs, but the game is dead and balancing has become more of a joke every time they make an adjustment, it never makes anything actually better

Yeah that didn’t matter, there was tons of pvp over specific resources

- THere was no PvP system to start
- Why do you think the Normal Servers are not called PvP servers…but are instead called “NORMAL servers.”

Paladin is stronger than a lot of people want to admit, but it sure isn’t stronger than maintaining 900-1k DPS in a teamfight when your class does 30% less magic damage in PVP like ele shaman lmao
Gaining gold and using pvp to gain leverage is not a focus of the game? Really now…

Not sure what sort of straw man you’re trying to spin up here, but if you played on a pve server that’s your fault for not actually experiencing all the fun that pvp servers had.

Considering that the “normal” servers don’t have the PvP part built into any open world… one would surmise that PvP is not a focus.
Yeah it was, and I was there.
But that was classic, not vanilla. (Whole different mindset going into a solved game 15 years later.)
I think you know exactly what I mean, and just don’t like the PvE is considered the norm in WoW…by design.
Doesn’t have to be. It’s a sandbox map, like OSRS. That’s what makes it fun.

I am a PvP and PvE enjoyer. I just know which one is prioritized by the devs and the population.

So KTZ dropped Might of Menethil - the best 2h weapon in the game. And back then there were 0 classes to use it in pve. It clearly shows that devs made some items you obtain in actual pve content so, after you are done with raiding chores, you are free to respec and pvp untill reset.
Just go watch an Arena championship versus a race to world first.
Its pretty clear that most people play WoW for pve, but keep huffin whatever it is you guys huff these days.

Okay, your logic is pretty flawed. You CAN be good at pvp in classic and you CAN be awful. I have played above 2500 in 3’s which I understand wouldn’t mean you were good at pvp in classic. But you can be good at both or bad at both or good at one and bad at the other.
What logic are you applying to Time = skill because thats literally how you get good in arena… You spend time practicing… ?..?..?
1 shot meta is just a quote or saying to describe how awful pvp is. I will kill a healer on my rogue in a kidney shot. There is ZERO counter play right now in a 1v1. That translates into BGS.
If I open on my rogue vs any class there is a 0% chance that you live.
Do you need to see my arena ratings in wotlk? and the previous years in arena? I’m sure you will come up with some other ignorant excuse or reason why it isn’t “real”, or “thats not relevant because it was 3 years ago”… You guys that make excuses for everything and anything, it is literally never ending UNLESS whatever it is you’re responding to aligns with your opinion.

This is not factual, again just your opinion. The DR came way to late into the phases to speculate on. I think nobody is playing because there is literally nothing to do. Everyone was already ranked 7 and geared out before the DR was ever in place. It was a HORRIBLE time to test and gather info from on blizzards end in my opinion. You could be right though, there just might be that many awful pvp’rs in sod that enjoy the hulk smash 2 dps buttons.
