Tanks mostly just sprint through dungeons, and half the time, they’re just face pulling and not even holding aggro. You try tanking a dungeon like you’re not snorting Game Fuel and people just start running ahead, leaving you to kill the mobs. It’s like the classes are designed for a game that hasn’t existed since WotLK. We’re just stuck in this halfway to Diablo state that doesn’t let anyone actually play their class. I think it’s high time this is addressed. Either just get rid of tanking and make enemies blow up, like in Diablo, or revert back to Classic/BC style. I doubt you can put the toothpaste back in the bottle, so just make it Diablo, I guess.
We’re at the end of the season. It happens. Although I will admit it gets worse every expac.
It’s not an end of the season thing. People have been running dungeons like this the whole expansion and before that.
Sadly, there’s little that Blizzard can do to change this that won’t create a massive uproar.
Buff dungeons to make them harder and force players to move slower? Riot.
Nerf tanks and healers so they can’t pull entire rooms and keep trucking? Riot.
Personally, I don’t like the ‘go, go, go’ style gameplay that dungeons have turned into. But even if I decide to play the tank role and go slower, I will get kicked from the group and a faster tank will take my place.
It’s the fault of the parents of these gaming kids I tell ya h’wat. Letting them fortnite dance and eat chicken nuggets. It’s disgraceful I tell ya
1: You can tank them yourself and decide on the pace.
2: You have access to bots on follower dungeons and you can run it however you like.
Normal/heroic dungeons are meaningless for majority of players, but if they are main content for you, then follower dungeons are there for you.
Agreed, the dungeons are too easy. Remove Normal & Heroic dungeons from the game, I guess.
The problem is more fundamental than player uproar, though. It’s a 20 year old game; the range of ability from the players that have been playing at a high level for a decade or more to the player that just picked the game a month ago is massive. How do you ensure the latter can actually complete the dungeon at its lowest difficulty on their own merits without allowing the dungeon to be faceroll easy for the former?
To be clear, I’m not suggesting there aren’t ways Blizzard could improve the situation. Making tanks immortal in DF (and only clawing some of that power back going into TWW) made the problem much worse. But I can also appreciate the nearly impossible situation they are in given just how long the game has been around.
Yeah this was happening at release as well so it’s just isolated to end of season
this has been a problem since late shadowlands. playerbase just doesnt want to take in a dungeon anymore. they just want to speedrun everything. hence why so many fits were pitched everytime tbc dungeons came into rotation.
I’m going to give you a hint. You’re not supposed to kill the mobs immediately. You’re meant to wait until the tank runs around a corner, all the mobs follow him and then you AoE everything down.
This is what happens when you increase the skill level and the players mostly left are ultra tryhards that have to go go go super uber duper fast. Why I also wish M+ was just a challenge mode and unique mounts were just tied to up to Mythic dungeon achievements only. You remove the gear from the challenge mode and make it just skins and only the people that really want that mode play it.
Isn’t this what happens when you make the bottom rung so easy that a 1-legged ferret could be trained to run it?
Nobody runs ahead and solos everything in actually challenging content.
Get rid of the faceroll stuff.
I guess you could do that as well. They could experiment and just delete Heroic and Mythic 0 and maybe even max level normal mode dungeons. They could also delete LFR and Normal mode raids too and make it just Heroic (normal) and Mythic (heroic) all over again and see if that helps.
All of this stuff was added after the fact. The game was way more popular when people had to do things for realsies before they were “done” with them.
The original raid mode… was what’s today called Mythic. There was an easier version slotted in below it in Wrath (which is now called Heroic). And LFR was slotted below that. And then Flex (which is now called Normal) was stuck in-between the two.
Like Ghostcrawler said after he left, a problem at Blizzard is that they’re pressured to do things so that “somebody’s grandmother” can do them. The problem is that too many people do grandma mode, stick to just grandma mode… and then complain they have nothing to do, after beating grandma mode the first day.
Well if they want to go back to the good ol’ days I’m all for it. Could even make the world harder with more modern difficult mechanics I suppose.
Regardless for me when I’m playing a very hard game I don’t usually go back and want to do it over and over and over and over again. I beat it, then play some alts, and maybe come back to it a few months or a year later again to try it out.
I mean I play very hard games I’m not shy of them. I’ve 100% Sekiro so meh…
True but in WoW the difficulty is in the learning. Reclears are always easier.
Heroic just needs to be tuned up more. They’re so easy that most tanks can just straight up solo them. The rewards are also purely useless. Why grind heroics for 571s when you can get full 584 from siren isle? Or go straight to t8 delves and get 606.
Dungeons most likely to be scaled again next patch or expansion or they squish gear.
It’s just a temporary smash and bash fun.
So the game is too easy right now on the bottom end while being obnoxiously hard at the high end. Kind of wild how this game is tuned. Oddly if Mythic raiding was the only difficulty above Heroic raiding and there was nothing else I am 100% certain there’d be a lot of demand for it to be brought down in difficulty.
