read the TOS that YOU agreed to. follow it. you will have zero problems. its a matter of following the contract you agreed to. There is no snowflake clause that applies to you.
except for you violating the contract you agreed to. there are penalties for that. There are penalties in rl for words(other than physical) I have throw people out of my business for verbal diarrhea. I have fired employees for an inability to filter. speech does have consequences. Its not unfair, its reality.

calling people names = spouting insults. place and time decide if these are ok. Blizzard has told you that their platform is neither the appropriate place and time. This is not made up, this is the adult world.

Or you can be polite about it and explain to them that they shouldn’t be doing what they are doing, then report them if they are vitriolic or trolling on purpose.

ive come to a similar conclusion that you just never, absolutely never, talk in bgs, or respond to whispers from people you dont know who are mad/upset etc. it will lead to a ban. the social contract is actually an antisocial contract.

as long as you dont start cussing them or anything you are fine. just respond with “have a nice day”. It will drive them up the wall if they are trying to get an inappropriate response from you. There is no way that blizzard will decide that “Have a nice day!!” is in any way against TOS. and report them if they are behaving against the TOS. There are people intentionally trying to get you to get mad. they arent going to play better, thats not the game they are playing. Like the people trying to get a turtle in AV, they are not going to be a productive member of the team, telling them anything is useless.

It really is very easy to avoid being banned or reported. Just have some consideration for others. Don’t treat other players as your punching bag for your frustrations.

The reporting is crazy they can report you for any little thing. I stopped cussing in game long time ago, but people can report for you for literally the smallest stupid things
