Hey hows it going! I’m noob and I have a lot of questions. First an intro of myself: I’m Bug, and in dec 2022 when I got covid, I was so bored I picked up wow wotlk classic. I love it so far! This is like the 4th time Ive picked up wow over the years, I would play it for a few months, and then put it down.
I would say my favorite expansion is MoP, only because of the sky golem mount. My favorite race is the goblin, then orc, and then ne.
I really want to get into pvp. I’m a rogue right now, and my first question is, if I create an alt on the opposite faction, can I send it money/anything from the mailbox?
1.a. Would you guys just suggest I make a alt on the same faction for convinience? Or does it really matter?
If I wanted to get into pvp as a rogue, I was thinking of getting into jewelcrafting and mining for my alt. Good idea, or should I go for mining and engineering?
Right now my main rogue is into herbalism and alchemy, and I feel that that combo is more of a money maker than anything. The money I make can supply anything I need for either rogue, and also Ive heard transmutations are cool too.
Whats more important? Cooking/fishing, or first aid?
Maybe most importantly, is cata going to get a classic remake? Like wotlk and burning legion? If so…can I bring my 2 rogues onto that new expansion with everything they have (profession levels, etc).
No, you can only send BoA (Bind on Account) items to alts of the opposite faction.
1a. Doesn’t really matter but it’s nice for extra space for an alt bank or for a 2nd profession for gold making.
JC/Engi are best PvP professions and having them on 1 rogue is super good to do. Seeing as you are making gold from Herbalism/Alchemy i’d say think about swapping to JC/Engi on main rogue or alt rogue, whichever you plan on PvPing on. The 2 improved gems are super nice plus glove enchant is nice as well. Add onto Engi being the best for PvE and you get the best of both worlds.
All 3 are important and you can do them all on 1 toon. Very nice for feasts for your raid and bandages ofc for arenas.
No one really knows but some people like to think that we would get a classic Cata. I personally would just prefer they build off from WOTLK. And yes you’d be able to bring every toon you have over to Cata classic if we got it. If Blizzard decided to keep Wrath legacy servers you’d have to pay to keep your characters on Wrath IF you decided to also move them to cata.
That’s going to be a lot easier than starting over completely.
AFAIK if you want to get into PVP you will need engineering and also possibly JC since they’re extremely strong and you’ll be at a disadvantage without them.
For PVP it’s first aid for sure.
Difficult to say but it’s possible however based on how little effort Blizzard is putting into classic it seems like they expect it to fail.
It seems both engineering and JC are important for pvp, but…wont I need mining to gather the materials needed for either one of them? So, wont I need jc and mining, OR engi and mining, instead of jc and engineering?
Ive heard of people “buying” stuff from the ah to get the professions leveled up, but…thats gotta be a f&$#-ton of gold. Even with the herbalism and alchemy alt money maker, is jc and engi even feasible by themselves?
On a side note, I wish the gathering professions didnt take up a profession. Like have one gathering profession, and have 2 regular professions.
Also Ive decided to go with another ne rogue. This way I get the racial disappearing skill, and Im on the same faction.
I will work on first aid. Gathering wool in particular is really annoying. I really enjoy fishing and cooking though!
The only thing you can mail to opposite faction is heirlooms or other “bind on account” items. Normal stuff can only be transferred across neutral auction house, which needs 2 separate accounts to use. This means to need another person or account to assist.
Can’t compete with engineer for rocket punch, boots, and even parachute is useful sometimes (you got punted off mill in AB or want to glide across to smith).
No secondary is important nor will make any meaningful money.
They haven’t said if cataclysm is going to be rehosted or not (wouldn’t count on it).
You can buy the mats to level the professions on the AH, yes. Each profession should be in the realm of 1-3k gold to level up for the profession benefits. JC is definitely on the higher end. As long as you have another way of making income, JC/engi is feasible.
Note that the JC daily gives you 1 token that can be exchanged for 1 Dragon’s Eye. That’s a non-trivial amount of income if you sell them.
Welcome to Wrath Classic! I’m not into pvp very much, but I would suggest fishing and cooking. It can be a great source of income as many people will want food buffs for the new upcoming raid content. You can also get epic gems from the fishing daily reward bag in Dalaran, starting next week!
Jewelcrafting is an extremely good profession and debatably one of the best in the game right now, due to the powerful gems. Mining isn’t so bad either, plus it has a nice 24 hour cooldown for Titansteel bar. Engineering is very very powerful as well. A lot of players will tend to get Engineering and Jewelcrafting, but that’s mostly for pve.
You can gather the resources on another character that has mining so you can take advantage of the benefits of eng/JC together if it’s too expensive to buy. If you don’t have a miner but you want to PvP, then don’t take jewelcrafting. Like everyone said you’ll be at a disadvantage but engineering still gets you bombs (100% required in today’s PvP environment), necessary movement abilities like parachute and nitro boosts, and mining at least will grant you some stamina. While you PvP and gear up you can level a miner, save all the mats, then switch to JC on your main
No, you can only mail “Bind-to-account” items (i.e. heirlooms)
Mining is good for two reasons:
It provides you the opportunity to farm required materials yourself, instead of purchasing them from other players
It provides you a passive boost to your overall stamina as you increase your skill level
In terms of PvP… First Aid will be the biggest, just because, as a Rogue, you can’t really heal yourself, and many times in PvP, you’re stuck in combat for random amounts of time, causing you to be unable to sit and eat. Fishing is irrelevant, and cooking… you can make feasts, but for most players, they’re not the difference between life and death - especially since you can purchase food from other players for a low cost anyway.
At this point, no one knows. I doubt even Blizzard knows. But, as long as they release it as they have done thus far, yes, you would be able to bring your Rogues with their accomplishments along.
If you’re new, and don’t have a main to funnel gold into your alt’s pockets, yes, I would recommend keeping Mining and choosing between Engineering and Jewelcrafting so you can actually afford to benefit from it.
Technically, yes. The actual costs will vary, depending on your server and its current economic status.
You could always take mining and jc or engi and just farm the mats for the other profession as you skill up sp once you hit max on 1 you can drop Mining and skill up the other.
As a side note you can level engineering from 350+ to what ever skill level it is for the glove/boot/glove tinkers by scraping the mobs in the oil fields in borean tundra.
