So yeah, looks like they aren’t going to fix it.
I’m glad I have other games to play. I really hope they don’t repeat this in Season 3. Whatever thing made them click off the warbound-ness of undercoin, they’ve basically killed my max level alt game because I’m sorry, I can’t do “many smaller totals” of a currency I’ve known to be warbound in the past.
Please revert this next season. For now, thank goodness for other games. I AM glad that WoW doesn’t so aggressively try to keep me playing all day every day, but this feels like a loss of value, because it wasn’t always so. I’ll re-evaluate how I feel if undercoin starts season 3 non-warbound, because then it will feel like a permanent change, but for now I feel like this is a switch that could go back any time now, and the psychological effect of this keeps me from playing alts in level 80 delves.
Delves are a wonderful leveling lane, I’ll use them for that, and to gear my main, but like… yeah. No alts in max level delves for me for now, and I have so many I could be playing. Feels so bad.

I agree its annoying but what makes it such a big deal, like what are you trying to buy with undercoin that you feel can’t be accomplished easily?

There’s nothing to fix. Undercoin isn’t transferable this season because Coffer Keys are per character this time around. It’s been a great change for me. I hope it stays this way in Season 3.
This has zero to do with Undercoin.

You can craft 629s, a higher level than the 623 Vet Delve Gear, with the onslaught of crests you get with every new alt with Reknown, including the freebie 658 Undermine Runed crest. And often it’s real cheap.
And you’ll still have plenty to use for upgrades when you get Champ or higher gear.
Undercoin isn’t the problem, here.
It would be nice for Wave Scramblers, but those can go in the warbank anyway. You can’t pool your resources with undercoin like season 1, so at season end, if you have bits of UC on various alts, not much to do with it really.

Hang on, back up…
So… if I just have my alts go at it and earn their own undercoin, they can all buy their own keys with said undercoin to then fuel their own progression from bountiful delves?
I’m at work and can’t look at the numbers, but at what point does the buying keys start (never did that last season) and how much do they cost?
My big gripe is that the weekly quest that gets a whackload of undercoin is best focused to one dude (or at least that’s what it feels like) and so that seems to point toward pooling on the main again, which non-warbound keys messes with.
Or should I be spreading that weekly quest around? The seasonal journey progress is warbound…
You’ve got me rethinking my approach here…
I’ll admit that I don’t see much of a reason to take my alts into delves without transferable undercoin. I just log out and go do something else most of the time. My play time is down a lot since the change.

I believe it is 60% through the track, for 2000 undercoin, with a discount at 90% that drops it to 1k. Two keys per week per character.
You can buy veteran warbound gear with undercoin on your main

Yes, you can do this, and you can also do the stuff that awards pinnacle caches on your alts for additional keys. Those take less time to complete than a single T11 delve does. Then, keys are purchased for 1k UC (provided you’re maxed on delver’s journey – I was after 3 weeks by rolling two characters through delves). You can purchase 2 per week per character. You shouldn’t have any trouble rolling keys on alts. Undercoin being character-bound isn’t that big of a deal.

It’s annoying. My main doesn’t really need champion gear anymore and he’s swimming in Undercoins. My alts could still use some pieces and I hate doing the same world content over and over, so I’d love to buy a couple of keys for each of them weekly. Apparently Blizzard doesn’t like that. Messes with their precious MAU or something?

For the life of me, I don’t know why anyone would even want to buy keys after the first 2 or 3 weeks of the season.

It’s stygia all over again. No idea what bonkers thinking goes on over at blizz HQ when they decide which currencies get the warbound treatment and which ones don’t.

Delves are part of the World Content pillar. So it stands to reason they want world content players playing all of the world content, not just a small portion of it. Thus… we get keys from doing weekly things. It gets people out into the world and populates it. This isn’t a lobby game and they’re emphasizing how world content isn’t a lobby game.
I much prefer buying keys per character than account wide. Now I don’t have to choose which alt gets keys.
Because RNG sucks for Delve loot. So people are still messing with alts.
You used to not be able to buy keys for each character, it’s a straight upgrade to be able to do so this season.
Also, one of the keys for this week can be earned by doing any delve. Another by doing the Theater Troupe, or a single shipping and handling quest, or turning in radiant remnants. These activities combined take less than 15 minutes in the world to get your delve keys.

Just splurge on some wave scramblers at 2k UC each and bank them for your alts. They are the real ‘win’ this season for delves imo. (That and gilded crests awarded in higher delves.)
Farming war supply chests are the easiest way to get champ gear, and you get to pick your slot. A couple of hours of that and some epic bgs (this week a good time to do it) and can have champ gear in three or four slots by end of week. Can be catalyzed into tier as well.
I get that but if you have run enough delves to get access to the extra keys, you clearly didn’t need them along the way. And you will need them even less by the time the keys are cheaper.
Even an alt coming in late will have a minimum of 21 pcs of gear after 3 weeks. Six from doing the quests that grant the initial 4 weekly keys, twelve from using the keys, and three from the vault. Even with mediocre luck, that should result in a bunch of upgrades.
Maybe. I started late in Season 1, so perhaps I missed something but I could buy them back then too. Thing is, by the time I could, I didn’t need them on my main. They were only good for alts and it’s the same now, expect coins cannot be transferred.
As far as getting keys, it can all go #$%@ itself. I’m not doing combined 2 - 3 hours of the same repetitive mindless clicking on things to gear alts even if Blizzard paid me actual IRL cash. Sorry.
3 per week across your entire account. You couldn’t send each character 3 keys, you got just 3. Now, you can buy the keys on each character.
15 minutes is a conservative estimate on the amount of time it takes. If you are unwilling to spend 15 minutes playing the character, you don’t need to gear them more than in Veteran warbound pieces.

The 623 gear you can buy is warbound too. The only thing you can’t move around is coffer keys.
