#NOCHANGES will inevitably kill the game

We’ve stated what the problems are with it SEVERAL times in many other threads.

  1. We don’t trust Blizzard to make Classic style content anymore because most of the devs who worked on and made Vanilla are GONE. The people at Blizzard are the SAME people who gave us the expansions that you are SO DESPERATE to avoid. Therefore, your logic and reasoning for wanting this from that same group of developers is flawed.

  2. There is NO WAY that Blizzard is going to devote TWO dev teams to work on both Classic and your hypothetical Classic+. The time/money/man hour costs would be too high to justify such a project when VERY FEW will ever even participate in it.

  3. The voting system on changes to OSRS is a HORRIBLE idea since even retail players could vote, which would screw it up for everyone all over again. Furthermore, many of the changes proposed to the OSRS community that were TURNED DOWN, the devs chose to disregard the voting results and put the changes in anyway. How do you propose to keep the same thing from happening to WoW?? How do you keep Flying/LFG/LFD/transmog etc. OUT of the game if they get voted in?? You are already opening the door for Classic+ to be turned into retail by doing so.

  4. Blizzard typically doesn’t do anything for game development unless there is profit to be made. For reasons I stated above on potentially having 2 dev teams working on the game with far fewer players interested in it as opposed to a Classic version of TBC/Wrath, they will go with the option that provides the most profit for the least effort. Expenditure on dev salaries, time, resources simply can’t be justified by going any other route BUT TBC/Wrath.

  5. If you were on board with the #nochanges crowd when Classic began it’s inception, then it’s VERY hypocritical of you to propose ANY changes to the game regardless as to whether or not it is kept separate from Classic. It is ALSO very hypocritical for you or anyone else in favor of Classic+ to deny TBC/Wrath from everyone else when retail people did the SAME thing regarding Classic in the Wall of NO threads in the old forums. You people are literally doing the exact same thing and are too blind to see it

Wan’ts changes to a game and says game will die. Yet, we are all playing this OG version again 15yrs later. Don’t like it? Go play retail.

Yes, sustainability is important but that doesn’t mean that the profit has to exceed the cost of production and upkeep. The profit can equal the costs and many companies will find this OK. I’m seeing a lot of comments saying that if Classic doesn’t make money it will be shut down. Classic doesn’t have to make money, it just can’t lose money. A flat product is not usually deemed a failure.

Okay so I mentioned this in another thread that classic is basically a fad right now and with no changes, yes, it will not sustain its current level of popularity. We’ve seen no updates severely drop the activity levels of games. Buuuut…

I still think it will maintain an active community. It may need to downsize to prevent dead servers, but if Diablo 2 and 3 still have communities, I’m sure classic can maintain one.
