I donât hate the idea of at some LONG point add more content to the game, without changing the cap level, the clases or else. You want more BG? add Arenas? New bosses? IMO is ok.
It will be extreme rare that there will be classic server and classic+ server at the same time. And it sucks that people that start playing at that point will no longer get the âtrue classic experienceâ
That be said, Iâm adamant against add stuff that donât exist in classic and that will modify the gameplay experience (flying, dual esp, tokens)
Ive said this and Ill say it again. The âno changesâ people are the same people who play Dust 18 hours a day on Counter Strike. They hold onto a memory and think that having the same old content will keep them happy.
I would unsub so fast if you forced me to progress that it would make you think it was automated.
Sorry that you want to change how the game was created. I rather play the way it was intended.

The way classic is intended is as a museum piece, and an authentic recreation of vanilla wow. Per blizzard.
Nochanges is going to kill the game if adopted by Blizz. There is already people saying the game is boring. Imagine the sub dropoff 5 years later. Tons of people resubbed ONLY for classic, and theyâll be cancelling that sub if they are bored.
People really think Classic is gonna last forever, but itâs something called nostalgia and not something for everyone to stay all the time.
At some point, Classic+ is gonna have to happen for people to stay or bring new players in because not everyoneâs gameplay style is exactly the same as they are back 15 years ago. Convenience is where the game caters to players.
Agreed. Classic canât last forever as a profitable game. Classic+, however, offer a more hardcore & old school experience while still adding new content to keep people engaged.
Are you sure that Blizzard wonât change the current servers to Classic + servers? If you can promise me that Naxx will always be the last raid on my server then Iâm fine with any additional servers with more content. But I want to get my naxx gear, be satisfied, do the same with an alt or two and then contently unsub from blizz. I want my characters to stay there for as long as the classic servers are live so that I can resub at any time that I want to and see that all of my progress is still there and relevant.
So if Blizzard doesnât change my current server, then Iâm happy. But I wonât trust them not to go back on their word of âas long as there are players willing to play classic, weâll keep them runningâ (or something like that). I agree that theyâre doing all of this for money, and they arenât honorable enough to keep Classic servers in their museum state just to keep a promise if they end up losing money on it down the road.
Honestly, if you guys want Classic 2.0 or whatever new content with lvl 60 still as the max, go for it. You should get it. I agree with your points.
But, until I see that Blizzard has made (or at least plans on making) those new servers AND keeping current servers as they are, then Iâm going to stay on the side of #nochanges or #noTBC or however you want to call this side.
Subscription based video games arenât made to cater to people like you, and Classic is not meant as a museum. Itâs a product, and if everyone used the mindset that you used the servers would be shutdown fast. (I mean no offense, but itâs true.)
Iâm 99% sure. Blizz KNOWS the majority of people right now joined Classic for Vanilla. Itâs the entire mission statement for the company: recreate the classic experience. They will keep those servers up for years to come, but only if the profits outweigh the costs, thus they have to innovate and create fresh servers with different or new content (TBC/Wrath/Classic+)
If youâre not wanting to cause offense, I would recommend not trying to isolate the other person with certain phrases such as, âpeople like you.â Saying âno offenseâ at the end of an offensive remark doesnât do much. Of course, I can only be offended if I choose to, soâŚ
With response to what you said: I agree that Classic wasnât brought back so that Blizzard could sleep well at night knowing that they made some nostalgic players happy again. I know they did it for the money, and sure itâs a product. But I know that âpeople like meâ came back to WoW Classic for what it was. Many of us arenât looking for another long-term, constantly expanding MMORPG. Even if Classic + maintains the core aspects of Vanilla WoW and doesnât turn into the entirely different game of Retail WoW, then you should still expect those of us who came back to leave again.
Are subscription based video games âmade to cater to people like [me]â? No. Of course not. I want to âbeat the gameâ which would not align with the idea of a sub based game. But you also need to realize that not every one who came back to this subscription based game is a subscription type of player who wants to sub for years and years to come. I intend on maybe getting 2 years out of Classic and move on with my life. I donât know that I am in the minority or majority, but neither do you. I only know that if they change my classic realms, âpeople like meâ (which Iâd bet are a very large number of the current subs) wonât come back when game time runs out.
As a side note: itâs kinda funny that weâre even talking about this before future phases have been released. We donât actually know for certain that phases 6 will be out in the next year.
3. Blizzard canât be trusted, they will screw it up and ruin Classic+. (This is how we got retail!)
The safest assumption is that Classic+ will be its own server separate than the Vanilla museum server, so your vanilla experience isnât in danger at all. Secondly, itâs reductive to assume you know Blizzardâs intentions or goals in terms of game design. They know the demographics of their Classic community (more hardcore) and will cater new content to the new community, much like any other company. (So no LFG, flying at level 40, heirlooms, etc.) The fact that Blizz acted quickly to disable the LFG addon before launch should clue you in to how they intend to support the vanilla community going forward, so no, Blizz is not going to make âanother retail.â That already exists.
First, thatâs not a safe assumption. In fact, thereâs no reason whatsoever to assume theyâd do that.
Second, Blizzard has proven, repeatedly, over the last decade or so, that they cannot be trusted at all to provide good updates to existing games, with the only exception to that being Reaper of Souls (and that was helped by D3 being such a massive failure on release). It is not âreductiveâ to assume that Blizzard is going to continue with the design philosophy theyâve demonstrated for the past decade.
edit: what did they do to the forumsâ quote feature?
