To be fair the healing would be a consideration if balance changes were being done. It’s something I’ve pointed out to being a problem to giving those specs increased DPS many times around here.
But Warriors are still hybrids on the grounds that they can do multiple roles. Not only that, they can do multiple roles from the exact same build.
I’m against changes but if they were making them? Warriors being hit with the hybrid tax is the first thing that should happen.
A Ret Paladin’s healing is more of a concern in PvP, where they don’t need to conserve all of their mana for being able to do maximum DPS for an extended period of time.
There’s a reason why we used to joke that you have to a kill Paladin 4 times to kill them.
Go play a warr and get back to me after you’re 60.
They’re not vesatile, they’re extremely awkward to solo with, have a dead period at the start of each combat due to rage generation and are exclusively melee.
3 different talent trees which are all 100% melee with zero utility and complete group dependance is no where near being a hybrid.
and the joke usually ended with ‘’ just kill him last, he doesn’t do anything relevant’’ or did it end with ‘’ mana burn him twice and he’s done for’’ ?
Lol, very different to being a pally or druid which are actually hybrids.
Using the line of thought being pushed in this thread, rogues should have a hybrid tax because they can go stun lock vs dps vs stealth sap. They can also tank using evasion.
Should we be advocating a hybrid tax on them because of it ? …noooooo.
Retribution always had decent burst, it was just wasn’t always on-demand since it relied on SoComm(which barely takes any mana to maintain).
Priests should be Mana Burning the full healer builds, and if they’ve been able to sit there and burn every healer before moving onto the Ret Paladins then your side has screwed up pretty badly.
Why does tanking have to be so niche and hard to fill while healing can be done by any turd that can heal? Why is it those that choose DPS roles have to change very little for PvP while tanks are almost useless in PvP unless they respec? Why are some specs just inferior in every way?
The game has never really been “fair.” And I guarantee those that like it that way are probably benefiting from that- you know, fury warriors, undead shadow priests, and the 9 million frost mages out there. The biggest difference between now and then though is that people know what’s good now more than they did back then. Metas are much more prominent and people are less willing to experiment than they were back then.
and a Priest is different from a Paladin, so should we remove their hybrid tax? Every class is different from the next class, so saying “but…but… healing!” is irrelevant to the discussion.
A hybrid is a class capable of doing more than 1 role of the holy trinity of tanking, dpsing, or healing.
Rogues can only DPS. Being able to burn a cooldown to survive for 15 seconds isn’t actually tanking. Tanking is more than “avoid dying”.
People, i can put it simply for you - Pallys and druids are the hybrids ( and shammys ? - dont play horde so lol )
Twist and distort it all you like, its just a simple fact of the game. If you have a problem with your pally or druid being a true hybrid, reroll a different class that is more focused, but trying to argue for changes to turn hybrids into a meta or calling for homogenization of classes akin to Refail isn’t going to gain traction or support.
Hate on me all you like for it, i really couldnt care.
My Shadow spec has the same performance loss that other healer DPS builds have, while my healing build isn’t actually stronger than a Paladin’s holy spec?
In fact, Feral Druids do more DPS than a Shadow Priest with the right setup.
If I’m not supposed to have hybrid tax, why doesn’t my Shadow spec do as good as Fury does? Why isn’t Enhancement as good as Fury?
Which, for the record, even Blizzard called Shamans hybrids back in the day.
