So very well said.
I played Druid, and though i was in Balance Talents i still was the Healer in Dungeons. Yes i Healed in Balance … your heals where not that big like a Resorations … but with -9% mana costs i healed when others where oom. I wanted to be Feral Cat … didn’t work oit later in Dungeons for me.
That and i played a Hunter … would never touch that with Deathzone and no Disengage Jump Away again either.
I raided as Warlock … was ok but i didn’t love Affliction particularly. I liked Destruction … but that was unplayable in Vanilla.
So yeah … i play Mage … it was either Mage for DPS, Warrior for Tank … or Rogue.
Still, each faction has two tank-capable classes (ie they have ‘Taunt’). I think that’s why they just gave up and gave both side Paladin; so they could rework Protection to be a true ‘tank tree’ and give Paladins the base abilities to tank effectively.
Then gave Shamans to both so there wouldn’t be a DPS/Healer imbalance.
Hybrid means, in the case of WoW’s classes, that the class can perform more than one role.
Druids, Warriors, Priests, Paladins, and Shamans are all hybrids. Mages, Rogues, Warlocks, and Hunters are ‘pure’ classes, in this case Pure-DPS; their talent trees were designed around one role.
Paladins are pulling 400+ dps ST fights in MC. Plenty of paladins are tanking (not that many MT yet as there is a lot of theory crafting to explore which is so promising). I don’t see the “lol” in loladin.
There’s like 4 or 5 bosses in the entirety of the game that taunt is a semi requirement… Using taunt with it’s 17% miss rate against 3+ levels higher mobs as a bar seems so dumb. But you got to use the bandwagon material yo
In raids? Depending on raid makeup you get ~100 tps from JoW, ~100 tps from just swinging a weapon, ~ 50 tps from SoR, ~ 60-70 from HS on average, GBoK would give you a lot the more you have a class stacked but 5 targets gets you 380 tps. How much threat do you actually need in MC? Speed runners were pulling 990 dps as warriors so you only need like 505 tps to keep up. When things are being downed in 45 secs, what mana problems?
I didn’t read a single comment in this thread other than yours OP. With that said, I found out most of the WoW community is full of ****. I came into Classic knowing nothing, and assumed most of what the “veterans” were saying about what was viable or not for end game content was actually true, and then MC gets cleared in less than week, by a raid where not even all the people are level 60. The pinnacle content currently available doesn’t even require us to be max level. Let that sink in when people are telling you what is viable or not.
Who’s “they?” Whoever that is, sound pretty ignorant.
WoW Classic raids are 14 years old. There are hundreds of videos online of how you can do it with a few people or cheese it. Pushing meta in Classic is so…
This involves changing the mindset of people who stick to the meta. This has nothing to do with changing the game. The game needs to stay the same. If you want changes, then please go to retail.
The trick is to be a famous streamer and just do whatever you want. A loladin literally got the first Sulfuras in the streamer server because he’s a streamer.
