Nobody in the dev team for WoW cares about Lore anymore

Bring them back? You mean we already had the exodus of players that were upset they couldn’t play a warlock due to race? I suppose we could go to the peon tape (you made the peon cry) when they quit to see the reasons. I have no proof, but I’d be highly surprised…

I don’t remember that kerfuffle. All the race discussions I’ve ever witnessed focused on who has the best racial for PvP. Or Diplomacy. And they were very pointedly focused on gameplay effects, not lore.

Nope, they don’t, and the majority of the playerbase they’ve been cultivating for 18 years doesn’t either.

I’m pretty sure most of WoW playerbase doesn’t care about Lore. In comparison to them, Blizz cares for the lore.

They don’t, but there are those out there who want to play the way they want, and that way involves the lore.

But apparently that argument only holds water when it’s a gameplay-related reason.

You do know we already have race/class combos that make no sense lore wize, that being holly forsaken priests.

So mabye stop making a mountain out of a milehill. Just dont play the race/class combs that “brake the lore”

The fact that you only noticing now instead of several years ago says more about you.

When they came up with Goblin Shamans, it was game over.

According to these forums, it was over when Alliance got Shamans and Horde got Paladins.

Not terribly far-fetched, as end game balance, not lore, was clearly the motivation.

I love this though. The RP & lore-centrics are all:

“Everyone should be accepted! Freedom of expression!”
But also:
“No not EVERYONE, and not expression in THAT way!”

Either your offline morals translate to online, or they don’t.

They’re just showing their true colours, and self-cannibalising. It’s morbidly fascinating.

I’m not quite ready to surrender the word “Lore” to the forum warriors who have adopted it as a rallying cry.

The devs stopped caring about “lore” during at least TBC.

Saying “anymore” implies they did previously.

goblins at least had roots in shamanism in lore.

Right time period. TBC completely destroyed a ton of accepted/known lore. Changed characters, etc.

Pretty sure BFA & Shadowlands already proved that. Compared to those, Lightforged Draenei Warlocks are a “why not”.

I don’t care if they unlock them. I care if it’s done poorly and lazily without a care for the established Lore.

It all you people against this would have said so in the many threads asking for this nonsense we might not be getting these changes.

And here you are paying to play their games.

Just wait until you find out how the real world works, man… that’s gonna hit hard. lol

One has to wonder if there will be this big of an outcry when Goblin, Orc, Undead, Nightborn and Blood Elf Druids are announced.

Played WoW since vanilla.

They never cared about lore to begin with.

This is where I stand as well, I also dislike those that treat the lore, in the case of WoW, as something that can’t change over time. I am not a fan of retcons but what is wrong with say “After the fall of the Legion, Man’Ari Eredar went back to their draenei kin to try and convince them to use the skills they had learned, and teach others how to use them, against other forces. The draenei agree but under the condition that the Ehedar will be kept on a very tight leash.” In the case of the Lightforged, Lothraxion could be the one approached to ease that transition.
