This is really common and it’s part of why we have what we have today.
I’ll probably end up moving this druid just to play with my guild as rumbling has already started (expected) and I’ve gone over and over if it’s worth it to me and raiding with those guys is, even though I hope the guild will stay together which transferring is the biggest way to break up a guild. For me, it still won’t be where I spend most of my playtime and that doesn’t mean I want to play on that server.
Unfortunately, as to that other comment, I’ve found the server Discords on the super mega servers to not be all that interesting either. 
They are more about out-of-game stuff the same as talking on a local Facebook group or something.
