Holiday items should be guaranteed drops. New quests and items should be added each year to give people something new to do. This would be more fun than current iteration of holidays imo.

FF14 does this with rare mounts.
They have low drops like 1%, but also, when you kill the boss you get a currency that can be spent to buy the rare-drop mounts.
WoW needs things like that to offset bad luck.
Rather, they assume people are addicted enough to farm something like that for years.

Some do I’m sure but it has more to do with it only being available for a short period of time but having a low drop rate. Other games have a currency that can be earned for their holiday rewards.

Any reward from a holiday event should be able to be realistically earned during that holiday time period while playing 1 character.

There are people who are zombies who play this game because they feel a compulsion to grind mounts. These people don’t play for fun. When the grind ends, they unsub until the next grind.
