No worse feeling

I would say stepping on your pet’s paw while moving furniture is up there too.

I wouldn’t put this up here. Now people will know not to invite you. You played yourself.

True but they forget really quick. They’re just “Oh yay now I get cuddles”

well there is that Paladin buff that helps if folks start to die around you

How does one prove that they have improved if they are not allowed to join the raid?

Oh I’ve never sat someone permanently. Anytime someone wants to come raid, I give them a shot. And if I have to sit them because they don’t perform, I bring them back on the next boss, in the hopes something good’s happened. Him being sat for a boss does not mean his raid will never bring him back but for the sake of progression, sitting someone who is not performing in the moment is the correct call. There’s always other encounters, and other nights.

I checked your logs to see what was going on and it looks like you have a long way to improve. All your current heroic parses are grey, while one or two greys can happen if you make a few mistakes on a certain boss or two, grey on every single boss is indicative of a larger problem. The first thing I noticed is that you don’t seem to have any embellishments or crafted gear at all. The second thing I noticed is you have almost no M+ done, you’re handicapping yourself there because you lose out on fully upgraded heroic gear and myth vaults. You have rings and neck pieces that have at least one secondary stat that isn’t ideal for shaman. You have a lot of things on the surface that aren’t working to your advantage here from what I see. I cannot say if you actually are playing correctly or not but I would definitely look into that as well however I cannot speak on that as I’m not a shaman player but I’ve heard it can be pretty difficult.

What we did was run two teams and unlike some guilds they were not an “A” and “B” with B meaning “needs improvement”. We figured everyone needs improvement. So we’d bounce players between the two teams to see which groups had the most synergy.

It also gave me a chance to have two raid leaders assess each team member and work with them (parses) to find room for improvement. We had class leads who worked with both teams. Sometimes we’d even swap RL’s so they could see what the other team was doing rather than just watching their videos.

When doing older content (where we’d farm trinkets and sell runs) we’d give anyone who wanted to a try at leading. This was our laboratory for players who wanted to see the fight from an alt in a different role and where we’d trial new recruits and pull in the bench.

In the end, we were progression-oriented though so once synergies were cemented on the two teams we stopped rotations between them and amped up competition between them so they could push each other. Only once did we do a team merge because we were close to Server 1st and wanted to exploit that. But once we had it and could sell runs off it we reconstituted the two teams.

So in our model there was always a chance for someone to show us what they’d learned.

Gear ain’t exactly dropping for me, and a good number of the gear I need that is BiS in in the raid in and of itself (as per WoWhead).

Also M+ tends to make me feel a bit odd, I always have an issue with higher keys making me panic about all the insane negatives I gotta deal with.

Guess I’m stuck doing grey parses…

It’s okay, I figured I’m with raiding for this season, I’ll wait until T-Dubs.

Every raid group has that person

Its okay to be that person if it is indeed you like you are saying

Take your dirt nap and realize they obviously like you if you are being brought to raid still and that’s more important than anything over your dirt nap

There are always a few guys like that on the raid roster. The reality is it’s fine as long as you are trying to improve your gameplay. I don’t really vibe with people that just accept that they are the worst person in their raid though. I just don’t get why anyone would want to accept that instead of trying to match the rest of the guild.

part of it is also based on time to down a boss
that week during s1 where warlocks glitched and getting an extra passive 10% haste was also everyone was getting parses that were 15~35 higher than normal because warlocks were just contributing so much more DPS than normal (those logs got invalidated anyways lmao)
for instance, if a group takes 15 minutes to down a boss that normally takes roughly 9 on average with best scores being 6 minutes, everyone will parse extremely low just by nature of how long the fight took compared to normal, even if some people were performing within the 99th percentile

what im saying is, op, parses can help understand some problems but if you read too deeply into them without proper understanding, it’ll lead you to come to the wrong conclusions

I’m the guy who thinks I should just stay in my lane, I figured I had a good run, and trying to fight WoW’s RNG to try and get the gear I need is kind of a losing battle.

Just feeling a bit humbled, realizing I ain’t as good as I thought I was.

have you tried reaching out to the earthshrine discord to have someone analyze your logs?
in my experience the people who actually take on the task are usually really spot on with advice and explanations, joining trueshot lodge and asking around there definitely helped me take my survival gameplay to the next level, ive been parsing my first 90s this xpac and im really proud of myself since in SL i was barely able to get blue parses
id give it a try, worst that can happen is someone you never met and won’t interact with again roasts you

Enh, I don’t wanna bother people with my BS, I’m already dead weight enough as is.

most don’t really see it as a bother to help fellow players of their class get better, but id genuinely give it a try
it’s primarily the reason the discords exist at all

In my opinion from what I can see the biggest barrier seems to be M+ and lack of crafted gear. Embellishments are important for dps. Even if you aren’t losing out on gear, you’re losing out on crests to upgrade that gear which will give a substantial ilvl boost. I understand your not comfortable with high M+ but I’d recommend that you chill with some lower M+'s and continue raising the level of key you do until your comfortable with high keys.

It feels a lot worse when they just decide to leave you to rot on the floor knowing full well it’d take forever for you to run back but none of them even think to toss you a rez. You ask or beg for them to rez you but they just tell you they don’t feel like it and that you’re free to leave if you’d like as they’re not going to waste time rezzing you after getting you killed two seconds into a raid encounter they reset. Although it is salting the wounds when you release to run back and second you’re alive you see a loading screen and the words saying you got kicked despite not sitting there dead after the request for a rez was denied. Not everyone in this game is kind… sad as it is to say

Is Crafted gear that good? WoWhead says the only BiS crafted gear that is good is a cloak.

Raiding itself is demoralizing.
You’re a minuscule cog in a grand machine that could work as well without you even being there. All of the gold, time, and effort you invest cannot change this, nor can it save a raid that either refuses to or for some reason cannot handle mechanics.
