Than seeing your raid either work efficiently or worse, better, when you’re dead.
It’s really discouraging even after practicing my rotations to a T.

I dunno man. Accidentally killing a shiny Pokemon feels reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal bad.
wait until your raid gets aotc without you
You’re looking at it all wrong. The raid isn’t doing better because you are dead, but you being dead is more like a buff for the raid. Now you’re providing!
if it dies, it’s a team effort. floormat or not, still counts.
Funny story. Joined a guild to try out for Mythic Raiding. Went through Heroic with all gear being funneled to core so all of my own gear was a result of doing M+ or pugging.
When they got to H Fyrakk, they benched everyone who wasn’t a core raider. So I went and got AotC before they did, in a pug. So them getting AotC without me was a joke because they were a few days later.
I don’t mind a free carry
I mind dropping food in the pool, two bad things in one. Lost food and impending cleanup.
I finally started violet a few weeks back. Found a shiny marill day 2! Later that day i saw my stats and it said shinies encountered was 2. I dont even know what the second one was!
Happens, indeed. My guild in Wrath benched me because (reasons) so I took another guild up on their offer to sub for an absent healer and we completed Hard Mode Lich King. Got a real frosty reception when I was finally given my raid spot back.
13 years ago… my my goodness:
Talisman vs Lich King Heroic 10 man Part 1 (youtube.com)
Talisman vs Lich King Heroic 10 man Part 2 - YouTube
LOL… that interface would drive me insane today.
So there’s an unspoken rule in my guild.
When someone dies, the first words out of my mouth typically are “Get 'em up” or “Save it for a tank or a healer, we’ll need it later”. Neither of these are bad because it’s logically driven. If I say the second one, it doesn’t mean the person is bad or better off dead. It just means we may need it because something very hard hitting is about to happen and we may lose someone critical.
But if I say “leave 'em”, that’s bad. That means you’re not doing enough and I have ruled you not worth using the rez on. And there are some people in my raid where those words come out of my mouth. My team knows if I say that, you’re doing something wrong.
That’s worse!
Nothing to be discouraged about. You were the sacrifice needed to win the fight. You had the most important job on that boss.
Protip. You can save before you fight the shiny. If in Violet / Scarlet you KO the pokemon you can just restart the switch and the shiny will be there if you saved by it.
Just don’t do that if you’re fighting Dittos or Zoruas. I think Just dittos are the ones that DONT stay if you saved before fighting them. I can’t remember the full details just be careful
Aaaaand I got sat…had a feeling it would happen.
Might have to just hang up the raiding hat until T-dubs -.-
You can always improve.
Deep dive into the parses… figure it out and explain what you figured.
Thats how I’d get back in good graces many times
My guild co-tank had that happen so often, we straight up ask him to go have a family dinner or something so we can kill a end of tier boss we’ve been struggling with.
Yeah sadly that can happen, particularly if you caused your own death, or many deaths. Nobody else will tank in my guild so that can’t happen XD Also sadly that’s a reality but when your teammates are around 14 ilvl higher than you because they’ve done m+, it tends to show even more in the logs that you’ve fallen behind.
Practiced my rotation until my hands hurt, this shouldn’t be an issue.
There’s a difference between knowing your rotation, and knowing how to parse. Knowing how to parse is about uptime, and mechanical knowledge. And using parses can help you ascertain where you can improve.
Could be. What I’d do may not help you in that case, but I’d turn on advanced combat logging, and record my own logs - capturing everything I did. Then I’d upload my own logs to WCL/Wowanalyzer. Better representation of what I was doing, and where I could improve. Anyway, wish you the best in future play.
