It’s not to be mean but your argument’s silly for one simple reason by the logic that you’re stating.
The way the game was played originally isn’t the player base originally the way we play this game is not how we played it back in 2007.
Like it or not the biggest aspect How a game is played is the player based and unfortunately we are not the same player base we were.
Back in 2007 height 1 million person assured you of that So to say don’t blame me by wind play the game how it was designed was designed well.
That’s very broad definition because everyone plays this game differently And for the record back in the day there was plenty of people that wanted something like dual speck.
They didn’t actually use the word dual speck but there was different terms but they all meant the same thing.
Like it or not the burning purse is a solved game That’s just how it is so there’s no way you can play the game the way it was originally meant to be played simply because of the way the people play it.
I mean you could take something as simple addons Yes we did have them but not nearly the amount we have now.
Just as 1 Example So not to be mean I think you’re chasing something that doesn’t exist anymore it’s just that simple
Two thinks screwed wow royally. Duel spec, and WoTLK s Auto Group.
Auto group just simply destroyed the overall community. The entire point of guilds was to find people you had synergy with in dungeons and especially heroics. You would eventually learn the names of a good thousand people. And when you ran a dungeon in a 5 man heroic and someone went to shat talking about how your a crappy healing X class, people that knew you would bash that person. One guy talked trash about my Druid one day in shat and he eventually had to transfer. He was in a guild I frequently did heroics with and I would mt for their guild on my pally. His GM kicked him saying to him “you obviously didn’t know how to play this game because that Druid your talking about solo healed our group all the way through Karazhan and he tanks raids of 25 for us.
Only had a shadow priest to help and a elemental shaman to help me regen more. So yeah! Community killed wow and that’s because accountability went out the Window. But in tbc those dungeons are hard. So.
I think after this fiasco with blizzard we won’t get the players back. But, tbc has the best t mans and heroics, ten man raids are my favorite and wish that honestly blizzard only made 10 man raids in the future. Just Balance is better and you take out 2 full groups that you would take for a 5 man.
I hate Auto group. Wish blizzard would go back to talent system, glyphs for spell augmenting, awesome enchanting and Jewel crafting was fantastic for adjusting your gear for your play style…
To bad ToR killed rift and the follow up developers were trash. Wish it was coming out today with unreal engine 5 and the old team…
This, like many trends in gaming was a huge mistake. People who think only in terms of profit or investment are actually short-sighted, and often don’t know the gaming community or what really motivates it. The lack of quality MMO’s on the market in the last ten years is the result of this short-sighted mentality.
It is not a good thing. The rush back to Classic is proof-positive that people were clamoring for an old-school ‘grind’ experience.
I’m willing to bet that the first company that creates a GOOD, quality, grindy MMO will actually be the one that ends WoW.
The gaming community isn’t one homogenous community. It’s a union of communities that do not like one another, views the other communities as the reason games in general are terrible, but have no where else to go. Hardcore grindy MMOs last but a short time because the majority of MMO gamers, are casual non grindy gamers.
The lack of “quality” MMOs these past 10-15 years is because MMO gamers as a whole, are a very very small subset of gamers;` with the players wanting a grindy MMO being much less than that, and PvP orientated players an even smaller subset.
Casual gamers put food on the table, and keep the lights on for companies. If hardcore gamers did that, more games would be made for them. Gaming in general isn’t profitable for any company, unless the casuals and pay pigs have their way.
The rush back to Classic by players was for nostalgia. The server population numbers have been well published by several gaming sites; and not many people play on them. Some servers having less than 900 players in total. WoW-Classic was to protect their IP from private servers. If Acti-Blizz could have crushed private servers and their operators with legal red tape, they would have. Acti-Blizz would have said to the players wanting Classic servers, that they can play on current WoW or that they could leave.
In fairness… I’m of the opinion that Act-Blizz doesn’t want World of Warcraft at all, and would welcome the playerbase leaving.
Nope. That company will dominate the market for about three months, then the game’s population will shrink to numbers barely able host two servers. We have a long track record of this being the case.
Want to know the best part? The idiots responsible for those 35 useless changes who ruin the game end up being unable to admit they were the idiots asking for those 35 useless additions.
Then why play a rerelease of a 10 year old game? Because you don’t like doing unsolved content I guess?
Apart from nostalgia and a desire to play an older style game with older style mechanics I see absolutely no point in playing a game like Classic TBC. Much rather play something with new raids and new bosses and new content if the game is not going for nostalgia value. It’s not like we are achieving anything by doing old content with modern mmo conveniences. It’s all been solved.
Idk - If your measure of a good game is how convenient it is, then what could be more convenient than a modern MMO without any challenging or new content? Essentially an easy familiar loot dispenser …
