Very disappointed there’s no RP-PvP option in the list of servers.

Honest question, is there any difference between a non-RP and RP server? They don’t really enforce any RP/naming/etc conventions on the RP servers do they?
Well in theory they do at least, as it is against the terms to have a non-rp name and even speak OOC in non general chat channels, the former is rarely enforced and the latter isn’t enforced at all. Most enforcement anyway is community driven, and things like names are usually edited with an addon like TRP or MRP, regardless.
But that’s not the point of us wanting a RP-PvP server. In fact I’d wager there are a lot of non-roleplayers who also like this kind of server for a specific reason.
The point is that since they opened up on retail years ago, RP-PvP servers have drawn a specific kind of community to them. A community that I find is on average maturer, more laid back, less focused on pArSeS or competitive stuff like that (but thats not to say they are bad at gaming, at least on Grobb there are several high performing guilds and even Deviate Delight had one or two competitive guilds in the day.) But simply the quality of people on these type of servers tend to be better than your Faerlina’s and Whitemane’s. So yes, there is a pretty distinct difference between a regular PvP server and an RP-PvP server, even if it isn’t clear to most.

Heck, we’ll role play anyways! For RP-PVP just use the first PVP server in your zone. For regular RP, the normal server is the only option.
RP and RP-PVP servers have always been something special and different offered by WoW.
Players acting like NPC’s, folks out in the world generating new and often hilarious content, armies of players having a blast playing the game in a different kind of way!
Less stress, more goofing around, more party time!
Please give us the option of building our fun little communities and party shenanigans on an RP and/or an RP-PVP server

I mean… I get why you guys are saying you want one, but your reasons aren’t going to make Blizz make one. Normies invade the RP-PvP servers and in something like SoM where characters are disposable because of the inevitable dump into Classic Era it won’t attract real RPers.

not really surprised they aren’t doing rppvp servers, I used to advocate them, but the reality is they are just a pvp server and the players did deathballs when p2 hit, sorry not sorry, it’s your own fault.
I’m also not happy there is no RP option. This just means I won’t be playing.

RP servers are a remnant of time, a historical artifact, they simply are irrelevant in 2021. you think zoomers are gonna join an RP server and behave any differently compared to a normal server? it ain’t happening.

RP servers do have name requirements. If enough reports on a name happen for a non-RP name. It will get changed. This happens for guild names, too.
Grobbulus was pretty clean, but as TBC went on, people are getting kinda bored, so more silly/weird names are popping out.
As for community difference, I used only play PVP servers. The day I tried RPPVP, I decided to never go back. The community is better. The people and guilds who do roleplay add more immersion to the world. Better WPVP, too.
I find it to also be less toxic than regular PVP servers. A breath of fresh air.
Plenty who do not RP join RPPVP servers for that community, and they also fill the world with good PVP/WPVP. On Grobbulus it is a nice co-existence, as I have not seen a single RP Griefer the entire time.

For most of the borderline sociopath gamers, world first raiders and wannabes, RP servers are like kryptonite. That in itself makes for a much healthier server community.
