It worked for me to get the kite.
Do you have to wait for the twitch drop days end to receive the reward or do you just get it after 4 hours?
It can take a while to arrive, but as long as:
- Your Battle.net is correctly connected to your Twitch account, and
- You claimed the gift on the channel you were in after the four hour requirement was met…
You will get the pet.
Also, for some reason I feel it’s necessary to point out that the first Twitch Drop ended on the 18th, and the next two promotions do not start until Launch Day on the 28th. So watching now would do nothing.

Yeah I’m only gonna go for the Fel Drake so the 28th during launch.
I’ve had mine muted about half the time for all of these WOW drops and it has not affected progress at all.
I was having issues with no progress, stuck at 64%. I watched over 8 hours and no progress. My stream was muted, once I unmuted it, it started progressing again. So this is absolutely true, and a possibility. I can however mute my speakers in Windows and it still count, but if I mute the stream itself, it does not.
In Firefox at least you can also mute the tab and it counts just fine, that’s what I’ve done for most of the drops. I’m sure other browsers can mute individual tabs as well.
I had to log in and out of my Twitch account in Chrome a bunch of times to kick it out of the progress being stuck with the most recent D.I.S.C.O. ball promo, doing it in Edge for my other unconnected account went with no issues. Both were muted, in Chrome it was more fussy about the tab being the active tab at the time so I was browsing the web in an entirely separate Chrome window and that finally did the trick.
BUT, on the plus side, both toys showed up in the game within a few minutes of being claimed in Twitch instead of hours or days later, so that was nice.

I think its a lil hodge podge with what it picks up or not sometimes tbh. I had the mute issue the first time, then it was normal, with the recent disco ball one it kept stalling if I didnt have the stream sound on and nothing else playing. Soon as I tried watching something on another platform it would stall out.
Granted that could also have been the individual streamer having connection problems as I switched who I was watching for the last 60% and didnt have an issue. There was no alert in game for it either after being claimed, had to look for it in the toybox listing to open the box.
