"No one knows its the world soul talking"

Chronicles is still canon, it just had some aspects from it retconned across BFA to Shadowlands – but it wasn’t the complete series & every detail that was changed or removed.

Also, there’s more than just Chronicles that provides the source @ Sargeras’ goal.

Sorry, but Chronicles is no longer the developer’s book of canon lore, it is now the universe from the Titan’s PoV.
Also, that he wanted to use fel to make her join his “Dark Pantheon” was his goal. He did not consider fel to be corruption, he considered void to be corruption, but we consider both.

There’s no source of stating Chronicles isn’t canon anymore, anywhere. At Blizzcon (not the most recent, the one before) they said at worst its from the Titans perspective, and there’s obvious flaws in that but its still relative canon for the most part — And besides that quote & ‘retcon’ was implemented AFTER the Legion expansion, which during the time we dealt with the Legion, Sargeras & Azeroth’s stabbing was still absolute canon at the time.

Heck even this expansion, in the ‘Timerift’ where the Legion won - Soridormi states the Legion & Sargeras achieved their goal upon Azeroth: Annihilation.

The Pantheon he once sided with he sought to corrupt into a ‘Dark Pantheon’ of achieving that goal & furthering his ambitions. That being said, he may so later change his mind based upon the feats of Azeroth & repeated defeat of the void on the world to go forth and decidedly change his objective from claiming the world for destruction – Towards claiming it for his ultimate goal, of defeating or stopping the void lords (or at least help locking the fabrics of the cosmos further to prevent them from piercing the veil of our reality) — To which the Pantheon had told him he should’ve done in the first place, but disagreed.

Maybe Azeroth can communicate with “true” Azerothian races.

Thrall is a Farseer or something similar.

Was Argus a physical being inside…Argus the planet (I don’t think it was)? Or was he more of a metaphysical entity, like the planet’s consciousness. I guess what I’m saying is, we’re assuming Azeroth is an egg, or a thing in the planet that he was trying to stab and actually hit the core - which we further assume is where Azeroth slumbers, in a physical state.

Could it be Sargeras was trying to kill the void surrounding Azeroth? It sounds like a cheap way to pull an Illidan TBC again (“No guys I was on YOUR side but I never communicated that and all my actions were aggressively against yours at first glance”).

I’m throwing all this in the mix for discussion. I’m not married to this idea, but I think it’s worth considering metaphors to an actual sleeping being and something that exists in our consciousness - that’s not entirely physical.

You really think Mr. “Throw my ax at Helya and lose it” is gonna be great at critical thinking?

He stacks spirit not crit

Its clearly one of those “the audience knows more than the characters” with a splash of bad blizzard writing continuity.

And its also more dramatic for thrall in the trailer to say the sword is aimed at someone rather than, its visions from azeroth

Wasn’t the closed captions labeled “Azeroth” too? Obviously there’s a limit to what they can use with CC, but they could have also gone with “Mysterious Voice”.

Was labeled “World Soul” when I watched in on YouTube.

Now I want to go back and see what the whispers to Vol’jin were labeled - were there any? - during the beginning of Legion.

Though this is a much more obvious visual connection to a pulsing ball of energy. A happy, eyeless Sauron if you will, that hasn’t quite taken shape, but is imploring us to venture forth to the dark lands below and save her…? Or something like that.

To be entirely fair, like 90% of the story isn’t even shown in game anymore, not even in quest text. Like, there is no indication of Fyrakk being anything other than a lunatic out to burn everything in game, when the guy apparently was Alexstrazas cousin, taught her how to hunt to survive, and was the first of the ascendant protodrakes. There’s no indication of any sort of character development or familial relationship outside of the book. People would also assume characters like Talanji and Rokkhan have done nothing since BFA - unless they read the books. Most of the intricacies of the War of Thorns, including the death and resurrection into a light-based undead of Calia Menethil (!!!) are barely even referenced in game.

These are just a few examples of why WoW lore is so hard to follow, and why so many have given up on trying to follow it. And this plot point with Anduin and Thrall isn’t helping any. In BFA we witnessed Magni attempting to call people from all over Azeroth to help heal the woonz, and a few big characters joined his inner circle to help Magni directly - including Anduins best dragon buddy, Wrathion. There was no real indication of Magni trying to keep the worldsoul a secret from anyone.

It is reasonable to not blindly assume the whispers are Azeroth… but it’s their general ignorance of everything to do with the worldsoul, and Thralls comment about the sword being aimed at something, that makes it seem like they don’t know anything about the worldsoul despite Magni being so vocal about it. Even if they just didn’t want to assume the sword was aimed at the worldsoul and could have been aimed at something else, it’s just plain bad writing, because it’s so very very vague.

Yes, this likely isn’t the whole conversation between Thrall and Anduin, but until we know the full context of the cutscene we quite frankly cannot judge it based on anything but the contents of the cutscene. And the contents of the cutscene is… bad writing. And knowing Blizzard, this is also going to be yet another case of walking up to an NPC and clicking on “Show me what happened” cutscene that they’ve been doing the last several years…

Knowing Presence whispers:
With many eyes, they will see again. They will drink, and be uplifted.
Deeper, deeper its roots will reach. Welcoming our embrace.
Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dreams. Our song.

Op,what about it? How much closer do you wish to get to Azeroth?
Telepathy does exist.

Also have to remember that this cinematic is the first thing people will see that haven’t played the game in years or at all.
The cinematic quickly sets things up without confusing the viewer.
Once you’re into the game and playing, you can then be given more info to flesh out what you were given in the cinematic.

When will the Warrior of Light Champion start hearing Hydaelyn Azeroth in game, probably after Heavensward Dragonflight.

“Are you there, Azeroth? It’s me, Anduin.”

The new young adult novel coming soon from Blizzard.

I know right? It’s like all the NPCs were sleeping all of BFA.

When the world soul wouldn’t shut up.

? Thrall said “that sword was aimed at something or someone”, how about you listen before quoting something.

Wasn’t Thrall in Nagrand for all of BFA? He wouldn’t know.

Anduin was fighting a large scale war.

WoW has many threads and stories going on all at once. Just because the players do Azerite stuff doesn’t mean every single faction leader automatically knows what’s going on. Especially since it’s been 2 expansions since BFA.
Dealing with souls is not a new thing for Azeroth, they would have no reason to suspect the visions are Azeroth it’s self.
The trailer is them putting the pieces together with us. I dunno why people wanna be so pedantic with the timeline.
No one cared that the Lord of the Rings movies didn’t have Gandalf disappear for 17 years to figure out what the The One Ring was, same thing here.
