those were sardines. thats why he said “there aren’t anymore and there never will be” They been extinct since the 2200’s.
One of the absolute worst gaming companies on the market lies again. Consider me surprised. /eyeroll
All things eventually come to an end. Even WoW will eventually die out once Activision decides sub counts have dropped low enough that it’s no longer profitable.
It’s all just a matter of time.
I’m hoping that Blizzard will reassert itself somehow and make the game a bit better, but I’m not confident. Activision is a cancer that has already killed most of what made Blizzard a great company years back.
Pretty much, yeah. It’s freaking upsetting.
Aye, that they do. As far as all things ending at some point and time. Hence why enjoying the time that is given is all the more important. For if one is not enjoying themselves, then perhaps video game wise at least it is best to look elsewhere. So that new Journeys can be had, and new memories can be made.
I would if my son didn’t play still.
…So this is incredibly frustrating, as I’ve always wanted a saurolisk/warpstalker/lizard mount like this in retail, but it’s likely to be TBC Classic only, seeing as the mines are just from that client…
It just drives the point home that they seem to care waaaaay more about classic players. I have 0 interest in any older versions of the game and won’t ever touch it, especially as a mount collector. (Ironically classic players probably are mad about it to, because it’s a new thing. But it’s still super infuriating to see this as someone who wants this in the current game.)
They’re different teams, sure, but now they’re adding new stuff for an old version of the game? Seriously? While we’re told an “ongoing focus” (customization) is not going to be worked in in Shadowlands at all? Are you kidding me? The mount probably won’t be in both versions of the game, either, so now there’s an even bigger bloody schism. I really hope I’m proven wrong though, and that it will be in retail… but the whole “Only mined from TBC” makes me very doubtful.
This is so frustrating. The chance of me bothering to return is even less now.
Well said, good sir.
I heard about this but I thought it was for the main retail game. I thought ‘figures’ but considered that maybe they’d almost completed it anyway and so were just releasing it so there was at least something to show for their effort.
Apparently that might not be the case, if it’s only for classic TBC.
Sigh.
I am up for adding new things (depending on what they are) to try to bring some interest and new love to Classic, but I feel like the exclusivity part will not be taken very well “if” it actually is exclusive. If both versions of the game can have access to something then I am ok with it. Seeing as how that is an older version of the game, it having a new exclusive item such as a mount where Retail cannot earn is something I do not agree with.
May happen either way perhaps and if so then oh well as it will still not get me to play Classic as I have already tried. Just not my cup of tea anymore but for those who do enjoy it I am happy for ya.
it is bad for any genre of games.
If it repeats I don’t mind it so much cause it means you can do it at some point like with events, but yeah…There’s another game I mess around on occasionally and they had one of their first trial events (early access), when I finally got on to give it a go, I was wondering why I wasn’t finding any of the stuff to do, and found out it was already over. Talk about a bummer. Things like work and real life and stuff can keep someone from the game and you just miss out.
Missing out on content isn’t any fun
Big time bud. It us especially bad when that something had been around for years and the devs just randomly removes it for “reasons”
/looking at removed dungeons and raids.
The amount of games - MMO, Mobile, MoBA, FPS, whatever - that I simply will never purchase because I found out there’s some sort of limited time item I can no longer ever obtain is freakishly high. Pretty much every game now.
Hell, I almost didn’t pick WoW up back at the trail end of WoTLK because each time I saw something I wanted to get, I was told it was unobtainable. (Armored Netherdrakes? Lol no. That cute white/pink protodrake? Lol no. White raptor mount? Lol no.)
It’s the same deal with my boyfriend, who I’ve been trying to get interested in the game for the past year. He sees something cool, asks where to get it, and a good chunk of the time now I’m saying “you can’t”.
He’s now seeing me struggle with PvP to chase the armored soul eater, and won’t play anymore.
This is why the majority of my collection are retro games, and if I quit WoW, I’m likely just returning to retro games entirely. Which includes one MMORPG, where the only truly unobtainable items are… tshirts.
Ever thought about looking into indie games?
They are pretty good on not job removing content.
Haven’t really heard of any online indie games that interest me lately. Mostly just single player stuff like Hades.
tried spelunky 2? It is a fun ga.e that has online multiplayer.

I can’t think of any raids blizzard has actually removed. The only one I can think of is old naxxramas, but all the bosses and mechanics are basically the same, just scaled for 25 players
FFXIV is a fun game, especially for old school FF vets but its not a good comparison for customization. There’s literally 0 customization on the character level, nothing. No specs, no talents, no set gear or trinkets or a single iota of anything that will separate you from anyone else on your job.
Which is fine, because there’s no content to use any of it on.
All their development goes into campaign and cosmetics which is why almost no one does the non-existent end game in FFXIV, which totals up to be a handful of uninspired raid bosses per year and a literal expansion duration gated AFK grind inspired by FFXI for the casual player bone.
Again, I like the game, but it’s something you hammer out for the campaign then peace out on. Yoshi P even said that’s the best way to play, and Shadowbringers quadrupled down on it. They used to at least add filler dungeons on the regular but even those have dwindled to nothing now. The moment the credits end, you go make outfits in Limsa and then afk.
That honestly sounds like a better priority to me. A majority of the games playerbase does not participate in these raids anyway. The “real” raids that actually have any semblance of difficulty at least.
Giving us a good campaign to do and tons of cosmetics to hunt for. The thing that could separate WoW from FF14 is a bigger focus on PvP (largescale, not the crappy rated garbage). Instead Shadowlands comes out and we get like one nights of storyline content. Then we get dripfed 5 minutes of story once every four months.
Even the hardest bosses in the game get killed in the first week or two. I literally do not see the appeal. If I kill the game’s biggest bad on the hardest difficulty why would I want to do it again next week? What purpose does the gear serve if you can finish the content without it?
Ironically enough there is no true endgame PvE content to look forward to in WoW. Nothing where you NEED to get a full set of max ilvl gear to do it. Like an oldschool FF optional boss like Ruby Weapon, Omega Weapon, or Ozma. There is zero reason to optimize for maximum performance but people do it anyways because they all have OCD. If the damage meters weren’t in the game for people to flex numbers on I doubt anyone would care.
So since there is no actual reason to optimize and all the hardest content is cleared in the first couple weeks of launching. Why NOT focus on some other part of the game with precious development resources? Something everyone can participate in and enjoy. That doesn’t need meticulous tweaking and balancing just so the world firsters can brute force it before the first subscription fee of the patch gets rolled out.
The troll raid in stranglethorn.
