It’s just frustrating, in the end. WoW doesn’t really have a great deal of customization options when it comes to transmog. The new customization options for the player characters are nice; but seem lacking for many of the other player races.
At this rate, I’d take in-game shop transmogs if only because it might actually help motivate some sort of continuous addition of new customization in terms of armor/outfits.
It’s kind of sad it’s come to this, given this is a subscription-based game, with paid expansions, but … yeah, I’d probably pay for new customizations / mogs, as opposed to just getting nothing.
Now that I’ve had more time to think about this, I would be VERY miserly about cosmetics we had to pay for, and I would likely only get the very best of those. At the very least, I might buy one as I was trying it on at the Barber. I would click that “BUY” button, but would feel very grimy doing it.
See, that’s the thing. It doesn’t even seem to be a matter of money motivation at this point. Maybe it should be, at bare minimum, I just don’t know. It definitely feels like something has gone wrong somewhere if they can’t even consider either A) the money to be made behind making certain cosmetic things purchaseable in the in-game store, or B) reaching out to the talented folk among the community who take time to make fan-made cosmetics of various kinds.
Like, hell, even the morphing mods could have been turned into a positive addition to the game if Blizz had simply snapped up the best of whatever’s used to make that possible, and baked it into character customization.
Instead… well. This is, it seems, as good as it gets. Which is a damn shame, and seems severely counterproductive in the long run. Hell, they once abandoned an -expansion-, for all intents and purposes. It’s not that they stopped working on it, of course, but so much was cut out that it might as well have been left to rot almost as soon as it was released.
Trying not to look too closely at Warlords of Draenor.
Personally not a fan myself, I’d rather have a deep red than that silly pinkish… yuck. (personal opinion on it.) I don’t think I can express my distaste for that color enough, to be honest. Makes me sad that true blood red wasn’t included >< Clearly a simple ‘dying fix’ wouldn’t work in this situation for those who want to have actual red eyes.
I would like a good dark pink and blood red sort of look. Just sharing an artist who makes decent customization with assets already in game.
Although my dk is a troll so I would be more interested in maybe something like Bwonsamndi colors for like a dark purple with blue and white highlights. Or a bony white. Regardless it would be cool to pick some colors for your dk eyes, seeing as we have different magic in the shadowlands.
The holy light looking eyes looked cool for lightforged dks for example.
As long as we got actual blood red and not just that awful pink, sure. I’d love to pick eye color for DKs. ‘lore’ isn’t an excuse at this point either, as “Oh wellp purple eyes weren’t meant to be for elves but here you can keep it”. No ‘lore’ reason for it. Plus, eye color changes according to magic, so like… let us have red eyes, in that case. Blood Magic.
I think it would work best for San’layn though as they seem to specialize with blood magic. But we see the lich king has access to death fire magic. Some speculate it may be tied to the eye Odin gave to be able to see into the shadowlands. I think a dark fiery red would be good for say dark iron death knights.
I also think High elves were able to absorb magic to get purple eyes. I remember that a high elf (Valeera Sanguinar) had absorbed a Naga trinket magic and her eyes turned Purple. So highelves/blood elves change eye color depending on the magic they use/absorb/ are exposed to. Purple would be arcane. Which is something blood elves who got “cured” of the fel would still be able to change eye colors like they could when they were high elves.
Red eyes I think we already given to some undead folks so it should be an option imo. I think it might be cool to have eyes change in different specs too maybe.
I still want upright Undead… I was so looking forward to that eventually being a thin. Maybe even different body types; for Undead and for everyone else. Less withered Undead, bulkier or less bulky physiques, all kinds of stuff like that…
Or even more withered, or partial withered undead. That’s something that’s asked frequently for.
Different body types would even for WoW old system be possible to implement. I don’t think they would ever do it, but here is how they could do it:
When you are creating your character the first option is a toggle, like Orcs have for the straight back option.
There you could choose at least between 2 different body sizes. Let’s say Stormwind human and Kul’tiran human, or Jungle Troll and Forest Troll as examples. Better yet would be 3 options, so including skinny humans.
This would be of course a bit more work, but with the age of the game it seems only fitting to me.
DK eye glow colours would actually be so easy to implement it would take them maybe five minutes. They use the same eye glow as night elves just with an extra effect added, it’s all baked in.
On that note, why the hell can’t draenei change their eyes colours?!
Yeah honestly it does seem like things are falling apart somewhere. Or everywhere?
Hell, HD models of our player characters look so good and yet a lot of armor just doesn’t …look quite right on them. It’s so weird, especially as even new sets can look a bit off; though old world pieces have it much worse. Hell I use old world mogs all the time!
I was thinking, you know how some forsaken people want Nathanos undead, but it requires this whole complicated ritual? Well… motions to the vampirates That could be the solution to that if they ever actually did the multi-model route (toggles). Human vampyr. Slightly different monster, but gets the point across enough. Blood v. flesh.
(I’m not just saying this because I’m bias, it’s legit the way to get the undead that look like that w/o compromising the lore and having every single person find a relative that looks nearly identical to them as per ritual)
I mean even from a completely neutral position, it just looks absolutely horrible for the Blizzard portion of Activision-Blizzard.
This is essentially a slow liquidation of everything Blizzard within the company. A company I worked for three years back had this happen to them. A merger, and then a gradual elimination of all original staff-members & soft assets. Classic acquisition.
It’s not doomsday to say that the book is closing on what the creative powerhouse people knew as Blizzard.
