What massive changes? In tech sure. It was a good start. A start.
How are people ignoring Blizzard said this is a main feature they will expand on?
I really don’t get why some people not interested in customization are so strongly against it or defending Blizzard.
It’s as nonsensical as if an RPer would go arround and demand no new raids or something (even though a lot are running raids too to some degree).
WoW is so behind, small studios are making way better character creation options.
Cutting it for Shadowlands was a huge mistake.
Their communication about it was terrible too. Waiting 2 years to get maybe all races on equal tearms? Or a little bit more of a main selling point?
When Blizzard isn’t hyping someting and selling it as the main feature and telling us more options will be added.
Shadowlands was hyped as the expansion of more customization.
That’s wrong. In fact WoW fans are happy with not that much.
It has not to be enough ever.
Why? Just like new armor, little things can be added over years.
Your responces is really sad. I was lied to. But hey.
No. They made a view nice changes. Some races did almost get nothing. It was not meant to be the end according to Blizzard themselves.
At least every race should have the equal amount of options.
Now why don’t you go complaint about PVP players in a PVP topic or something?
No, no. This person is one of those players that believes if they’re happy about something, nobody else is allowed to be upset about that thing. They make the rules, after all.
Just put them on ignore so some actual discussion might continue here.
From what I saw on reddit, their textures were all messed up too, around the hairlines. What a fantastic change that literally nobody asked for!
I want nightborne to be finished. Some more skin colors and hairstyles would be nice too, but I realize even asking the models to get finished off is already an awful lot.
Legit, they could have said: “We don’t have plans for 9.0.5 or 9.1–but we will be looking into the feedback, because we know it was a success.”
People are fine with waiting several months, but two years? For a new expansion? And maybe not even then? When they said ‘ongoing focus’? That is why we’re upset. I was hyped and extremely excited that something was going to be added to the game based on the community and heart put into our suggestions.
I figured the work I put in for customization suggestions could maybe be seen at some point.
But…with that answer, it’s a ‘no’…
Like this expansion came out just a few months ago, so yeah, the wait for anything remotely interesting in regard to what they said they’d be looking into just isn’t worth it.
Edit: And Ion’s response is garbage. I don’t care about the new ‘transmog or armor models’. The new stuff added in 9.1 look terrible to me. I haven’t been impressed with added transmog in a long while. And even if I was, the fact that they said ‘yep feedback!’ but are tossing that away, yeah, we’re going to be angry.
No surprise that Blizzard is entirely dismissive on this, well I’m now trying out FFXIV because at least they listen to their community.
Also the one time the RP community speaks out on our frustration, we get bombarded with “entitled”. While raiders and PvPers complain on the regular for years. Sit. Down.
Ion himself made a statement to Polygon. Let’s take a look at it, shall we?
We recognize the importance of customization options that allow players to better express themselves, and saying we have no plans to add additional options (like hair styles, etc.) in Shadowlands content updates doesn’t undermine our commitment. Visual fidelity of all aspects of our game, and especially player characters, whether it’s the appearance of player models, animations or visual effects is an ongoing project and we’re constantly working to raise that bar. We have a ton of unique outfits and other cosmetic rewards coming in Chains of Domination and beyond, but do not plan to add additional baseline customization options during Shadowlands.
And the ability to choose eye color separately from fur pattern/color. Males can mix and match beards, mustaches, and eyebrows, too.
Of course, the price for all that AMAZING customization was losing the blending textures on the base fur, so now their hair, facial hair, and eyebrows look completely pasted on. So Pandas got something…just, in the laziest, least visually appealing way possible.
Of course, worgen got a completely revamped model and still don’t have hair separate from their skulls and necks, which means they don’t even have the option of getting improvements aside from eye color and maybe scars.
The initial customizations were shoddily added - unless, maybe, if you were a human or orc - and it’s disheartening that we can’t even hope for it all to be improved upon and expanded now.
They ought to unlock hairstyles at least across races, at the very least if Nightborne had access to night elf, blood elf, and void elf hairstyles, and vice-versa there would be actual options for them, even though they’d still be comparatively sparse than any of them. People have already done this for demonstrations on youtube, and say it takes very little time or effort to do so I don’t understand blizzards opposition outside of some sort of idea that it would dilute the racial visual identity, but I think there are plenty of ways to differentiate the difference between a night elf and a nightborne between skin/hair colours, faces, and posture.
You could do the same with Trolls, the Draenei races, etc.
