No New Customizations is the "Don't you guys have phones" of 2021

To be fair they made it pretty clear they will do only Core races. Velvets getting little extra was to. Silence helf crowd.

AR were never meant to get anything.

And letā€™s be clear, I think most of us who are on the butt end of options would be significantly improved with just a few more skins.

Honestly I donā€™t believe customizations should be an expansion feature. It SHOULD be a quality update that gets sprinkled into the core game with each small patch. Blizz doesnā€™t need to drop everything in one patch but as a player I think we all could appreciate the evidence of progress/continuity if we saw more customizations sprinkled in every mini patch. Even if its just a new eye color or hair color.

Like these little things are what make the game feel more personal. Hell, weā€™re acknowledging that there is a CLASSIC version of WoW, when the Modern version we have presently still has areas in the game that havent received love from the the classic days.

The World of Warcraft should focus on the world. Updates to old Cities, Gnomergan(sp?) Gilneas, Loarderon(sp?). Hell even Stormwind and Orgrimmar should receive some visual updates and NEW activities to do around the city that relate to the current happenings of the world.

I may have gone off topic here. But the point Im trying to make is, the little things make a huge impact. Iā€™m still somewhat surprised we never got those nifty trenchcoats every NPC in Boralas has but somehow the player has no access to? Or the neat looking bandanas, or multi-hook belts?

The player base deserves access to these little harmless attires and customizations. I am a firm believer every outfit an NPC has should be earnable by the player via, achievement, reputation, crafted, or dropped.

Bottom line, what got most people excited. At least from an RPG perspective was more customizations. Recolored outfits areā€¦ okay. But much of the same, splashed in a different color.

This is absolutely incorrect, they did in fact say in the same Q&A at the end of BFA that ARs absolutely would be getting customization expansion in SLā€¦

was that the same one they announced blood/void elves will now also share hair colors(the complete blood/void elf kit essentially)?

:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The funny thing was how they expressed they are happy with how the systems are turning out, and itā€™s not like in bfa where they had to overhaul the whole thing with every patch.

Iā€™m genuinely hoping that this is just a case of having more planned but not something ready to release in a patch cycle. Like how the art team, as amazing as they are, for some reason would only be able to push out 2 new hairstyles in total, per 6-ish months a pop, and that would surely be underwhelming.

But if thatā€™s the case, he should have tried to explain better that the scope of the project was bigger than expected, so they might not do it every patch, but then reaffirm their commitment in developing the feature.

Buuut it didnā€™t really go like that did it. Iā€™m just completely baffled. It was such a bad answer I donā€™t understand how.

I think so? It was the one just before the SL release/end of BFA right after the core race customization release when asked if ARs would get further customization rounds.

oh i was being sarcastic

Specifically it was stated ā€œAR stuff, heritage armor, and other minor things will be .5 patch content.ā€

I just want playable Nightborne to look as fabulous as NPC Nightborne.

Right? Nightborne got screeeeeewed.

I dunno how velfs got big stuff and Nightborne, their Horde equivalent, didnā€™t.

Thanks for posting actual data. It always makes these discussions better :star:

Indeed, a lot could be done with skins alone.
I think people deserve more of course (like hair styles and jewelry etc), but this would be a very easy step to take.

Whatā€™s so disappointing about this is Blizzard saying one thing, and then going back on it. ā€œCustomization throughout Shadowlandsā€ being turned into ā€œnothing else for Shadowlandsā€. Itā€™s just another example of Blizzardā€™s bait and switch behavior and constant string of taking the money and running.

I think youā€™re confusing something. We were talking about Pre-patch release. And Devs specifically said that they were focusing on core races and AR will be later.
This is what I was reffering to - you cannot be upset that NB didnā€™t get anything for prepatch when they were never meant to get anything.

I was so hyped before blizzcon. The QA section feels like WoD flying debacle all over again. I sort of feel cheated. It really feels like they strung people along with customization as an expansion ongoing feature. The fact they see no good reason to keep adding them ingame is sad when it is such a beloved feature of the gane. And the fact they will probably use it to advertize future expansions makes me feel weary as this basically was another breach of trust for the wow community. #WoDvibes

Iā€™m honestly surprised to see Goblins with a majority of options. And Tauren!

Seems like they didnā€™t really do anything wrong - just the typical Blizzard overcorrection - now the least appreciated races have almost as much as the mostā€¦!

ā€¦ Just shame about everyone in the middle.

Iā€™m more concerned with how the game sucks in all other aspects, too: pvp, class balance, etc. Arenā€™t you thankful?

Itā€™s even better when you donā€™t chop off the rest of the image that shows races with even less options than Worgen.
