No more physical authenticators?

You don’t seem to understand, and I don’t currently have the patience or crayons to explain it to you.

Will the authenticators still be supported and usable, or will they just be trashed?

If you would like to prove me wrong, please. By all means. Do it.

But just insulting a person while never backing up your statement is pretty silly.

You had enough patience to respond to me 3 times. I am sure a quick rundown on the authenticator process shouldn’t be too hard.

They’ll still be usable for as long as the battery lasts.

You don’t need a phone that supports apps…I have just a basic cell [not smart], and I am able to use the authenicator. It’s very basic, just works like a text. Give it a try with the phone you have before getting upset about it.

I think this is a question to ask Blizzard. I am sure you are not the only person who cannot afford to purchase a smart phone. I can understand that since smartphones came out the number of physical authenticator market has probably really dropped, but they should have anticipated that those who use them will need something else when the battery dies.

If you don’t have text on your old school cell then what should I do?

They can be repaired. Finding someone to do it(for a fair price)is the challenge.

Quit playing games and go mow a lawn for $10. Quit complaining and do something. Sounds like you want a handout and don’t want to work. Do you stand in Stormwind and message high level toons for some gold? You waste time playing games when you could monetize your time, then play games. What a concept, right?

If your phone doesn’t support apps, how are you able to use the authenticator app?

Again, the Blizzard authenticator app and SMS Protect are not the same thing, and they are not interchangeable.

So much patience to say this again.

But not enough patience to answer me?

Well I just have talk no text via my phone contract. Sorry for not being clear

Apparently it is. :woman_shrugging:t2:

And once the battery dies/ you can’t use it… last say five years from now… do they take away the pet and bag slots?

Or after some period of time have you “earned” those things?

Or ten years from now, the minute you remove the auth, they remove the pet and bag slots?

The pet is tied to having an active authenticator. Right now.

If you have an active authenticator, you have the pet. If it gets removed. You don’t.

I turned the authenticator back on 20 or so minutes ago. I have the pet again.

Ditto the bag slots. Those are dependent on having both the authenticator and SMS Protect enabled. Remove one or both, and you lose the 4 extra bag slots.

Was waiting for this comment lol.

I can use the SMS option to log into the websites of the Blizzard family, the battle.net desktop app, my WOW iOS app, and within the World of Warcraft game client itself. It gives me a drop down option on all to use my Blizzard authenticator or SMS messaging. So if they are different, they both achieve the same function of acting as a second step verification for logging in. Just did it, so I know it works.

I wonder that too. Have had mine for about 10 years now.

This is outrageous, i should be able to be faxed my authenticator code how else can someone keep their account secure in 1998.

Better yet blizzard should telegram me my code.
