No matter what blizzard does people will never trust them again

The same is happening with path of exile.

I get it however, they feel they need to constantly “renew” the game with various ideas, some work and some just fail miserably. I think as a developer you should know when you should scratch an idea and try not to stand your ground. Then again I guess it goes both ways. It’s their game and they do whatever they want the problem is I have no interest in playing their current vision.

I stopped playing shadowlands about 6 months ago and I visit this forum every now and then. I have no desire to go back to SL and I have very little faith in dragonflight or what the next expansion was called. I haven’t even pre-ordered because why should I?

Well that’s your opinion and the opinion of a lot of people who love to complain. The thing that still doesn’t make any sense is that all these people who claim 3 of the last 4 expansions were horrible are still around.

At two years per expansion we are to assume that for eight years people have been “suffering” while still playing WOW? Why would anyone stick around a game for eight years if they thought it was that horrible?

That leaves you wondering just why are the people sticking around and complaining about a game they fully believe will never improve. What is their real motive?

No they have not changed. They just pretend to change when shown how utterly wrong they are. Then they repeat the same thing they did that annoyed player.

A lot of those people are leaving and then coming back. Its not because WOW is good, its because wow is really the only option. FFXIV stole a large chunk of wow players. The next MMO will do the same thing.

I suspect Riots MMO will be a lot like wow considering they have a lot of the old Wow staff. If it is then it will also steal players. I can only hope that Riot invests the money and listens to the player base a little more.

I wouldn’t say “no matter what”… but let’s face reality: Blizzard is coming off two crap expansions. Outside of WoW, they haven’t released a solitary decent product since Overwatch (That’s what, 6 years, now?)…

… oh yes, and all of last year happened on the RL front.

There’s a difference between never being willing to trust them again and just allowing Bobby to wave a magic wand and make it like all the things that have happened in the last 5-6 years (with the really bad stuff being just last year) never happened at all.

after what they just did the Hearthstone I am throwing in the towel.

You contradicted yourself here. If FFXIV is stealing players then how can WOW be the only option? In fact there are about 100 new MMOs coming out every year and there are many around to play.

If people are that convinced that the dev team hates the players, hates the game and will never improve, which is what many around here at least imply if they don’t come out and actually say, then why stick around?

I wouldnt say never, but it will take 5-10 years to build trust again

But Blizzard won’t have to worry about that because the people who are complaining now will stick around for all of those 5-10 years and keep complaining.

There is a reason for all this “Preach quitting”, i.e. saying you are leaving in your headline, saying you are not leaving in the fine print but coming back to complain over and over.

For the life of me I don’t understand why but I sure am curious.

We are not a monolith. For instance, I have played FFXVI. I have a several max level jobs, I just dont want to play it because I do not like it. Some people do and they stay there. For me and people I know, wow is the only option.

I stick around to play with friends. But when they are gone, I’m probably gone as well. I also don’t think the dev team dislikes the players, but they suffer from the same thing a large portion of the planet’s population at this point in history. They don’t want to be told they are wrong; they have to be right and if proven wrong want to be stubborn about it instead of just fixing it.

Yes, this is their game. Yes, they can do what they want to do with it. But there are consequences for that when you rely on a player base to fund you.

Think of it as a relationship you found out your bff said something that they were told in secret . Now the first time it hurt but you forgive them but it happen again do you go on trusting them even if you known them for a very long time. I sometimes think i am over wow but then remember all the effort i put in my char. An all the fun times i had.

Wow is the only option but it’s a horrible option? So what you are saying is that the only video games out there are horrible or worse?

Well clearly they are being told they are “wrong” by people in the forums but when it comes to advice on what they should do it’s all over the place. For example, one group thinks we should be able to fly all the time, another doesn’t. Some people think the tank should kick people without the right specs, others don’t. Some people want more pronouns, others want to stick with the ones we have.

So who are the devs suppose to listen to when “the players” (i.e the vocal people in the forums) can’t seem to agree on how the game should be played?

Heres my two cents…they provide a service…people either pay or not pay for the service.good bad or ugly.there going to make quadrillion money anyway it’s not like we can have a coup against the gaming studio…my advice play or don’t play…if you play do the activity you enjoy within the game to make it worth you sub and time…if you your done with blizzard / Activision/Microsoft walk away…it’s not like there going to come to your house knock on your door an harrass you…this is America and we make our own choices in life what we want to do…ion and all the other employees still have there jobs they still get paid…so it now comes down to a personal choice Example I tried classic it sucks…even wolk…fresh servers so what did I do, I uninstalled classic and I’m sticking with retail…there still getting my money no matter what…it’s a form of entertainment…that I have enjoyed for many years…

???

Trust is a strange concept to attach to a company.

Should I trust my telephone company? Should I trust my Grocery store?

Trust is a completely irrelevant concept to attach to a gaming company.

…one of the blue posts mentions Raiders and Pvp arena player being people we look up to.

Someone at Blizzard has lost the plot. They’ve well earned the hate and ridicule.

If only they had some way to communicate with their users. Perhaps if they had a database that contained those users emails and then they could send a survey to them and ask.

And what they would get are conflicting opinions. If one groups says “Flying should always be allowed” and the other groups says “Flying should not be allowed until late in the release”, what else do you need to hear?

The people who complain the most, can’t agree on what Blizzard should do, they can only complain about what Blizzard shouldn’t do.

Its because I want to play a game. I played it through the release and the first expansion. Then I get bored of wow and I need something to do so I just go and level up. Yes, I have a problem and I hate myself for it.
