No mage changes in the PTR? really?

Isn’t Arcane 3 buttons lol…

Yes but it’s also aligning 5 cooldowns and timing your window correctly which makes it so clunky.

No. It hasn’t been 3 buttons since legion.

Same noise for Demonology warlocks and their nether portal rotation then. Well, you will know the skilled labor by the contents of their work. Idk I haven’t tried playing mage in DF, at least serious enough to make a constructive critique. But if its like 12 buttons, then all i can say is stay away from druid if tracking CD’s , dots (generally), and all that isn’t your jam. I tend to love spinning plate specs.

Thats not the rotation but nice try

I think what makes arcane unfun for me personally is the turret play style and the fact that it often goes through the most major revamps whenever it comes to playing the spec each expansion. Always felt to me that they didn’t know what to do with it.

I think fire has one elegant combo you have to memorize but also has enough variety and builds around that one combo to keep it varied.

Demo doesn’t come close to arcane difficulty.

Arcane has 4 different rotations.

Lust big burn
Non lust bug burn
Mini burn
Conserve.

An example of non lust big burn

Missiles to 20 harmony stacks.
Evocation to 7 stacks siphon storm
RoP
Radiant spark
Arcane blast x3
Arcane surge
Barrage
ToTM before barrage lands
Nether tempest
Missles w clear casting x2
Pom
ABx2
Barrage inside totm window.

That’s just one burn phase.

Fair enough. Demo is like that too. When I leveled my mages i got their vibes, and i love having portals, but idk, i’ve always been a DOT/rot type person. When I played my demo lock up to 1754 in pvp and in raid, also feral/boomkin in raid it was pretty fun.

But demo is like 3 buttons, or it was anyway. Grimoire Felguard, carnivorous stalkers/doggos, tyrant, obelisk, hand of guldan, hand of guldan, shadowbolt x3, hand of guldan. Usually they (player) died upfront. It was pretty solid pve too though, just add in an extra step for a vile fiend or w/e.

The longer rotation is just more haste dependent because of how many minions you needed to buff demonic consumption to make your tyrant hit like a truck. Had to always keep tabs on my soul shard fragments/ expiration times on pets, and how many imps i had. Then kept tabs of the predicted dmg buff to the tyrant (addon) from demonic consumption.

Arcane seems fun, but just no pet (really), and relies on a casting circle (it seems). But I did see an arcane mage burst for like 150k dps so idk.

Arcane does the best mage damage currently. My friends let me play fire in raid but we all know it’s gonna be middle of the pack damage at best and not top charts lol.

4 different rotations? Hm. Yeah lock has like 12 (abilities )for nether portal rotation, but idk about it being THAT different tbh. Mostly shadow bolts to fill voids.

There’s at least three fights in Mythic that fire is better than arcane

In terms of cooldown time? Yes. Not raw damage output though.

Yes damage output.

Demo rotation currently

Wowhead guides are terrible. You might as well link me noxic

Imagine thinking arcane is one of the most complex specs in the game, then wanting someone to 'splain an opener. lol

Dude, get real. Arcane is not complex.

I’m assuming council is one. Brobably broodmother too. Fire is very useful for Razagath but idk, arcane single target burst is no joke and i feel is gonna be very useful on every fight.

I think every article deserves a fair shake, and its author. I mean in this case, the guy has almost 13 years of warlock experience, I think its pretty reasonable. It aligns with what a friend does on his demolock as well, and he hits 70k dps. So I mean, it isn’t that far off. Unfortunately my friend hates the forums, so I won’t be using him as a reference, but only stating my personal observations from the source presented and what I’ve seen him perform. Shrug

Half of the bosses have fire over arcane.

Eranog is a joke, Terros makes no sense, sennarth is a disaster for mobile casters in general lol, kurog has 2 ads so that’s probably why.
