NO LFD in WOTLK? unacceptable

This is ridiculous Blizzard. I’ve played classic up until level 30 and now I just realized LFD is not coming to WOTLK? Why not? This is a feature that is needed and it causes no harm. What gives?

Classic General Discussion is a better place for this probably.

This is the GD for retail wow, take this topic to classic TBC GD. And its because a few streamers and small population voiced their “LFG RUINED WOW” so here we are. And all the feed back has been “WE WANT LFD” so yeah they messed up listening to big streamers.

cause LFD is what started the “retail is bad” nonsense by General Discussion

them removing it made WotLK Classic so much better

Something something community, according to the devs. It was like that through most of Wrath, and I started right in the middle of it, so I remember what it was like. I get what they are going for here. It will either work or it won’t. Time will tell.

except they are right

if you want LFD retail is right here for you

Funny thing is if wow didn’t have LFG tool today, it would be chilling with all the old mmos that became med-low pop and barely alive. LFG tool made the game much more accessible and 90% of the wow subs are casuals who want to be able to see the raid or do dungeons without sitting in town for 2 hours only to spend another 2-3 hours wiping and going back to town after wipes and people leave.

They will add LFG half-way through after seeing so many people want it and its near dead because running to dalaran after pugs leave in any dungeon isn’t gonna be fun. And no they are not right, LFG saved wow to what it is today. Those streamers don’t know what they are talking about.

seeing as how WotLK didn’t add LFD till the end and subs were still going up, I doubt that was the case

vanilla and TBC classic are thriving just fine without LFD/LFR and it will be still popular coming WotLK Classic

all these “I won’t play WotLK classic cause they ruined LFD!!!111!!!” people will silently play it at launch

Oh no, it’s not like Blizzard wanted to retrace Classic WoW patch progression to try to recreate the experience back in the day… /s

Also… People were complaining about LFD, are now complaining about it not being there. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

But yes, this topic needs to go to classic because it’s about Classic WoW.

In that current era I agree, but times have changed. The value of the $ has changed and people have to work harder and longer to make ends meet then in the era of lich king expansion. I remember cause my parents used to make plenty of $$ but after the economy crash that was no longer the case, and prices on things have only gone up on things. That equates to less time on wow actually raiding, and more time sitting in town refilling your group to progress knowing you have to go to bed soon for another long shift in the morning and hoping for an extra shift. Eventually WoW would have adapted a LFG tool if it didn’t get one in LK, all MMOs that are doing well today did…ESO, FFXIV, etc.

And let’s say there’s a timeline where WoW didn’t adapt a LFG tool but FFXIV and ESO did, most of these “casual” players would be playing FFXIV and ESO instead and wow would have its own “hardcore limited audience” and be known as the game where your gonna waste time sitting in town waiting to refill. A ton of servers would also be dead.

inflation in 2008 isn’t the reason why Blizzard added LFD, how far did you reach the barrel to pull that idea?

and the “work harder and longer” isn’t cause of inflation. If you want to work at Mcdonalds for $12 starting an hour for 10+ years part time thats on you

learn a trade, study something for a degree is what make you get better money no one is going to hand you a weekly $2,000 paycheck with a fast food/retail experience non management job

Lfd being removed is not going to make the game more social because LFM GDKP and SELLING MAGE BOOST still exist and get plenty of business. Blizzards logic on it is garbage.

They’ve said they’re going to implement something like the retail LFG tool we use to build M+ groups, which seems like a perfectly good compromise. It’s way better than the old chat channels but doesn’t come with the deleterious effects brought by the automated crossrealm part of LFD.

NGL, my mind immediately went to Lightforged Draenei when I read the title, and my reaction was “why is this guy so bent out of shape over missing out on Lightforged? They weren’t in Wrath in the first place…”

Tell them its not “inclusive” and they are getting “misinformation” from retail players, they’ll probably consider changing it for you.

To be fair that statement is speculative at best. There is absolutely no way anyone can corroborate or oppose that subjective opinion.

I didn’t say that’s why they added LFD in LK. I said that without LFD in 2022, wow would be way lower pop and not a remotely top MMO because people today don’t have time to sit around forming groups in town spamming trade chat.

In WotLK WoW was at it’s peak so everyone had plenty of people to choose from the player pool. WoW is not like that right now.

I remember pugging for hours in WotLK for a healer till we finally found one that fit in the guild. Even in that time my old server did not have a large player pool that wasn’t committed to another raid team or guild.

I will never go back to classic WoW because I enjoy the conveniences of retail WoW. I will never forget how terrible pugging was, the GDKP, the run sales, people ninjaing mounts, gear, what have you because of the Master loot setting. WoW is 1000% better now than it was back then.
