No Focus Unit = Unsubscribing 2nd Account

That’s the premise of the post.

Removing focus means that if I want to dual box with a pocket healer, the next available method is buy the software the 5 man mage fireball teams use.

Or you know you could use the macros that people used in 1.0.1

https://wowwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Useful_macros_(1.0)

re-reading that it came across as rude and wasnt meant to be sorry. But yea theres a list of macros for ya! hopefully one of them fixes it for you,

No. You can’t.

We’re getting the Modern API with Secure Frames. In order to allow people to still have a focus like they did in 1.0, they added the focus unit ID in TBC. The scripts from 1.0 no longer work because the LUA has been secured and things like TargetByName() and CastSpellByName() are effectively removed.

So by removing the focus unit ID, they’ve placed us in a third state.

No 1.0 macros work.
No 2.0.1 focus unit ID exists.

This is not Vanilla OR Retail, but a failed limbo.

This is simply one of those things we KNEW would likely happen.

Something that compatible with the old infrastructure in vanilla is not compatible with the modern infrastructure that Classic is using.

It might not be as convenient, but it is still possible to heal, CC, etc. without focus.

OHHHH i see your issue; ok. yea. Focus was also used for tanks in BWL so at least by then we need it back id agree.

If it is more than 1 it is literally multiboxing, and therefore lame, regardless if you are powerleveling an alt or PVPing.

Except that you’re advocating for a change to the vanilla meta. We had the functionality in Vanilla, and we should have it in Classic.

Since they’re forcing us to use the modern API, it should contain the focus unit ID. For simplicity, I don’t even care if they don’t implement the frame, as long as they give us the unit ID and the /focus slash command to set it. Addons can handle the frames and display just like they did in Vanilla.

I’m specifically asking for them to revert the removal of the modern API element that served the same functionality as the old macros did, for the purpose of using it in place of those old macros. If we were getting the real Vanilla API this wouldn’t be a problem, so re-implementing the focus unit ID will serve to make the game more like Vanilla.

You really should just remake the thread but without any mention of Multi/Duel-Boxing. Everyone sees those words and sees nothing but red. You’d have overwhelming support otherwise.

Focus made things more convenient, but it is NOT necessary.

Not having focus will not prevent healers from healing, tanks from tanking, players being able to CC, etc.

Which existed in Vanilla, just under a different name. It exists in modern WoW. It should exist in Classic.

Gramatically literally yes. However context matters. and in context Multi is a step above Dual

Dual port vs Multi-port Screens, consoles etc. LOADS of tech uses it as an example of more than 2

Tempting. It’d be a fourth post by me on Focus though, and may constitute spamming so I’ll give it a week or two.

You’re asking that they change the infrastructure so that you can have your desired convenience.

No, I’m asking them to restore the functionality that Vanilla had, even though the form of that restoration necessitates aligning with the modern API since that’s how they’re providing the rest of the similar elements.

Just like we’re not getting the same Target Frame object we had in Vanilla, because Target Frames are now secure frames, the functionality is the same, but the form is of the modern infrastructure.

Why are so combative over a feature that existed in Vanilla and exists in Retail WoW?

In order to “restore” that functionality, they woukd need to either change the infrastructure to support scrupts abd add-ons or add a TBC feature.
