Maybe it is because people have done that content plenty of times already in the last 4-5 months and don’t need anything from regular or even Heroic dungeons anymore. LFD would simply not work in a TBC Heroic dungeon setting. If you have a bad group composition or not enough classes with CC then its gonna be a bad time. The issue is a lack of players, adding LFD would not solve this but make it worse. It only worked in WOTLK and beyond because the dungeons are much easier by then. Seriously, how hard is it to use LFG chat or make friends in the game ?

the tools are there. as a healer myself i don’t find the need / or have the enjoyment to run dungeons anymore simple as that . lfd wouldn’t change that .

If you are incapable of reading LFG chat and posting in LFG chat you’re a moron that doesn’t deserve a group.
I have never found a problem finding a group in the game, the key is to not be lazy and actually put in 1% of mental effort and it can be done easily.
If there is boost just just report them and ignore them, it takes 1 minute to make LFG not look spammy.

I am on a low/medium pop server and I usually don’t have a problem finding groups but I am a tank on my alt when I’m trying. LFD is worthless IMO if its on the same server. All I do is queue up in the LFG and then start sorting through the LFG channel and spamming what I need as well. Both the LFG tool and channel work pretty good to me. No real complaints except trying to find groups for dungeons below lvl 48ish is next to impossible at times.
All that being said I could still see people wanting to use LFD. I used it in the past and had a great time with it. A few rough groups every now and then but it really wasn’t as bad as people are making it out to be. I had my guild and friends on server and then I had my time to run dungeons with them or without them. What is the big deal?
Either way I don’t think the game’s trajectory is really effected by this tool being around or not.

wrath didnt have this problem, probably because you got badges and other bonuses for completing the dungeon. tbc needs similar
we are having the same problem that classic had. players do specific dungeons they need then move on, exacerbating things like tank shortages and dead low level dungeons. if you’re not part of the initial wave of players, you’re screwed and eventually the server is too as it gets so lopsided
dungeon finder would smooth this out by making all dungeons give bonus badges, exp, and rep. wrath got this completely right
Yea, I accept that.
But honestly, I would rather sit back and wait 30-40 minutes than be hitting “LF Tank” in LFG channel hundreds of times. I mean, it almost feels embarrassing to just sit there and hit my “LF…” macro again and again and again.
Also, there’s been so many times where I’ll message someone in LFG and they’ll say “oops sorry, didn’t see your message, chat scrolling too fast”- meaning players haven’t figured out how to sort their LFG chat frame into another window tab.
An LFD would be a lot more intuitive, especially considering, Blizzard introduced boosters. Lots of people at 70 still have no clue how to play the game. Lots of players don’t even speak English on my server. There’s nothing wrong with that- but an LFD would knock out a lot of birds with one stone.
As opposed to what, sitting AFK in Shattrath?

and that’s why you think it’s a good idea… I’m not sayin it’s not a good idea. It is for servers like yours but for the vast majority of servers with no players or dwindling player bases it would serve virtually no purpose whatsoever

I can get a group going for any instance in under an hour. If you are waiting all day for a group you are obviously doing it wrong.

You wouldnt be able to get a group in under 20 minutes with dungeon finder. Try adjusting your expectations. Its not 2007, the game doesnt have 12 million subs anymore. Get with the program.

Introducing dungeon finder would be the nail in the coffin for classic. There’s a whole social aspect to actively/manually looking for group that I find very rewarding.

Lol this is so depressing to read but you’re not wrong. This is the unfortunate mentality of modern gamers on official servers. It’s actually pretty concerning to see and in many ways mirrors modern Western culture.
LFD doesn’t stop you from continuing that.
I’ve been playing this game and had that mentality since vanilla. I found nothing wrong about what he said.
So wait, which is stopping people from running dungeons more? No LFD, or no dual spec?
