I think just dismissing people with a “go play retail” is not posting from a position of friendliness.
You’ve surely seen that and no need to play victim for them.

If you pvp in a pve spec in 2021 u are just griefing the group, in 2007 this was the normal thing to do, also there is no real investment in picking your talents in TBCC.
I don’t think I’ve ever considered myself a victim. And I haven’t ever seen anyone on here victimized. I see people behaving poorly all the time, and I’ve seen idiots not worth paying any mind to. “Go play retail” is not “bullying”. Christ.
No it’s just a fundamentally stupid argument that shows little comprehension of the actual issue.
to be fair, i wanted dual spec in TBC as well, switching between prot and arms got really expensive. i was really glad when it was added.
From the creator of - dual spec.
Very good finds btw - really puts the nail in the coffin of the idea that not having dual spec was accidental. It was clearly a design choice in TBC and including it now runs directly counter the design goals of the original.
lol we’re all playing this game with a mountain of changes in it.
“i swear I’m gonna unsub if we get boosts”
“im def gonna unsub if we get a deluxe edition mount”
“no way blizz is getting my money if FvF happens”
“unsubbed all of my 18592 accounts because of the arena changes”
But dual spec is definitely where we draw the line huh?
Agreed, 100%. And if that’s what he means by bullying, apparently I just find his choice of terms completely misleading.
and remember, it was the devs who were responsible for retail wow. when they say ‘we aren’t doing this’ i start getting itchy. maybe they should have done it.
Actually no, the leads devs have gone through at least a couple replacements since TBC.
Not sure you noticed but this is a rerelease - it’s not a new game.
are shadowlands and tbcc not under the same umbrella?
Yes, is the answer to your question.
It’s not about unsubbing, it’s about being satisfied/unsatisfied with the quality of their recreation.
I don’t want to add things that fly CLEARLY in the face of the way TBC was MEANT to be experienced.
So if blizzard pulled an email out from 2007 showing they were actually clearly in favor of dual spec but couldn’t implement it for one reason or another you would be totally okay with it?
Also the data would not be comparable. There were extensive class rebalances and restructure in the lead up to WoTLK.
It would depend on the reason. If the reason was class balance issues then that would make a difference - it would actually confirm why we should hold off. If they simply didn’t have time then maybe you’d have a point. But without a reason it wouldn’t mean much.
Was the mouthpiece of the dev team to the community. He didn’t just make the answer up on the fly - it was feedback from the dev team.
To me these quotes settle it - it confirms what I remember to be true. Dual spec runs counter the design goals of TBC. If it gets added to classic it will be in contradiction of Blizzards commitment to only make changes “in the spirit of the original TBC game”.
So if someone pulled out a post by Ziryus about his Wall of No where you mocked and ridiculed people asking for Vanilla servers…what’s that mean? I tell you what it means to me: your opinion means nothing. You never wanted Classic, you fought against it, and you made fun of those who did. And now that it’s here you want to change it into something it never was.
Here’s the facts: the WoW devs during TBC didn’t want dual spec. The Blue post says that quite clearly. So…that’s the end of the topic. Blizzard in 2021 said they want to conform to the design philosophy of TBC. Therefore, no dual spec.

This should probably be stickied ;p
It’s a debate closer imo.
Edit:
Actually this should be stickied - it covers it all (not just dual spec):
“I know that may sound like I just want to make life tougher for players, but that’s not really it. I think constraints can be a good thing for the game and ultimately more fun for players.”
Greg Street (Ghostcrawler) having second thoughts about Dual spec: 5/3/2017
If you want to read the whole thing - great insight into class specialization vs versatility:

Case closed.
The only place to go for this discussion is to discuss the merits of moving away from #somechanges with caveats toward a full blown TBC Classic+. As things stand now dual spec is a dead end until WoTLK classic.

Pro tip the wall of no was blizzard quotes not mine and it was posted for people too lazy to look it up themselves.
And if you’d actually read my posts you’d know I always said i would play classic if it happened and here I am.
Whether it was late in TBC or early wrath it’s clear Blizzard’s opinion on dual spec changed a lot over the course of TBC
maybe. maybe not. either way, blizzard’s opinion didn’t change enough to ever add it to TBC. so guess which expansion is never getting dual spec?
