How about just having them removed with no new talent tree? How about major revamps, shifting play styles?
Sir who are you

I’ve already toyed around with my frost tree once Wowhead got the revealed trees up and working on their website. If all the other trees are anything like mine, then everyone SHOULD be able to get their character back to where they should be if they are already 60.
There might be some edge cases where you might not get to one or two skills if you do a ton of branching off for some of the new passives, but overall anyone complaining about “losing” class abilities outside of stuff being straight up removed doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on.
Simply not true.
Taking things away from you and then giving you the “choice” to get them back is not good for the game, or the players.
I feel like you should take a break. Moderation is key.
yes… moderation can force you to take a break if you don’t do as you’re told…
Not quite, we’ve never had quite so much tied behind the talent tree in terms of base class abilities.
At most we had like 4 abilities in the old talent trees, and then our current system which has upto 7 depending on how you spec.
In Dragonflight, for FDK as an example you have 21+ abilities behind the talent tree.
That’s before including baseline passives.
I’m sure they’ll fix it in 10.2.5.
I very strongly disagree in this case. We have new choices, we have old choices. This seems to me like the culmination of what we have done + new stuff. Pick the route your enjoyed most, or make a new one.
Don’t worry, it’s not even in alpha yet.
Don’t worry, it’s only alpha.
Don’t worry, it’s only Beta, they’ll fix it before launch.
Don’t worry, it is only x.0, they will fix it next patch.
Don’t worry, it’s only x.2.5, they will fix it next expansion.
Sadly, the future refused to change.
Cool story.
Now let’s both be real with one another: after all the complaining you’re doing, come 10.0 patch day I fully expect you to saunter over to Wowhead, look up your spec, and plug whatever the cookie cutter “best” spec is that they came up with over the 3-4 months leading into DF during the beta test, all for that sweet extra 1% DPS it’ll give you over perhaps being a tad bit more experimental, or perhaps trying something that feels good with your playstyle.
You know it.
I know it.
Everyone else knows it.
im fine lol so no i wont take a break
God your sassy. This isn’t swtor you know!?!!!
thats my name dont wear it out
100% wrong, could not be more far from the truth.
Oh, they are just doing the exact same thing with talents as they did with borrowed power every expansion since Legion. Gutting the core of the class to an empty hollowed out shell, and making you fill it back in with the expansion feature.
On the bright side, though, at least they are making you fill it back in with something that’s actually built into the class, rather than by using external borrowed power factors that will go away at the end of the expansion. If they don’t screw this up, what we will have here is something that won’t be removed come 11.0, but rather built and expanded upon. And that is a good thing.
Like the ticking of a clock, the “too many abilities” and “too few abilities” pendulum swings back and forth each expansion… well every single decision blizzard makes seems to do that too, they don’t understand moderation, they only know extremes.
For the millionth time, talent trees don’t start at lvl 60 they start at lvl 10. They also want to use them to replace the overall character growth so they are including a lot of the base spells, really just letting you chose what lvl you get spells at. Which to that I can agree is an issue a bit. It takes away some of the talent tree aspect.
Every expansion does this to classes that they overhaul in some form or another. It’s a one time thing for each character, if you’re going to be upset about that then why play?
Talent trees have always given us spec defining abilities. They now have class talent trees so those giving us base class spells also makes sense. Can you argue about how many spells they put into the trees? Sure. But that’s not game breaking at the moment.
Passive effects? How do you expect talent trees to “augment, enhance and specialize” your character without passive effects?
You are completely missing what I’m saying and obviously have no idea what you’re talking about, because you have no idea what I’m talking about.
None of that is relevant or accurate to what I’m saying.
So you’re trolling then? Got it. Reporting thread and out.
On the contrary, its one thing I am very much looking forward to. Seeing all those old multi-layered ridiculous expansion abilities wiped away, resetting to basic and sitting down to go through what my high level characters can make of themselves - now, that’s fun to me. Its a kind of character exploration, like exploring a new zone and finding out its features, its hidden gems and neat stuff.
Will there be cookie cutter builds? Absolutely. Doesnt stop anyone from trying alternatives to see how they feel. There is more than one flavour of cookie.
