My character is the only one that has been active in this guild for the past few years. How do I transfer guild control to this character from the guild leader?
It’s on Khaz’goroth and the guild is called Circle of Steel. This character is not ranked high enough in the guild at the moment to get the dethrone option.
I tried using the support options in game but it was of no help whatsoever.
That’s your answer. You can’t, and GM’s won’t assist you.
If a higher ranked guild members account is active (note account, meaning they could be playing on other characters), then you won’t get the option to dethrone.
If your character rank is below level 3, you won’t get the option to dethrone regardless.
Honestly, probably best to either make your own guild or move to an established one that’s still active.
You don’t. The only way this can happen is if you can convince the Guild Master to transfer the role to you or if you can convince one of the people who are in the top three ranks to dethrone the GM and then pass you the lead. The support options give you the answer, no matter you not liking or agreeing with it.
I did this mid cata. I don’t know what my rank was but I either had to contact GL or blizzard did when I initiated the take over and he approved the takeover. GL has to be inactive for a period before you can. Maybe someone high enough rank can promote you or change the permissions
People on military deployment, school, or some other valid reason for being away from the game for an extended period would often return to find that they were no longer the GL.
Blizzard eventually took the approach that the guild belongs to the GL, not the guild members. However, they gave GL’s the ability to either set up their guilds to be taken over after some period of time, or to not allow takeovers.
I too, petitioned and got a guild turned over to me in Cata. That couldn’t happen now if the GL didn’t set things up to allow takeovers.
I would just leave and create a fresh guild. Or join an active one. One thing I’ve learned it’s better to be around active folks more so than a guild name. Join another cool sounding guild doing content you like. Best of luck and happy hunting!
That is probably the best course of action. Unless you know the Guild Leader and ask them to transfer leadership, we wouldn’t be able to help circumvent the settings for a guild. Sorry, Melidyne.
