No Changes Until March

AWC goes until March.

Can PVP really go that long without any changes?..

Yes? It’s not the main focus of the game. Ion would probably be happy if PvP just went and died(it won’t though cause we’re all addicts chasing those dopamine hits). AWC is just another carrot to keep the small segment of players that like WoW PvP playing the game. “Hey look we run tournaments with prizes! See we care about WoW PvP!!” Sadly though they don’t or we’d of gotten a real PvP stat.

The amount of people who participate in and care about PVP is underestimated. Especially for the overall health of WoW. PVP streamers makeup 90% of the Streamer / Youtube exposure of WoW. Nobody wants to watch people PVE all day, it’s boring. Social media exposure is much more important than you might realize.

Ghostcrawler once said that during his tenure (WotLK - MoP), the number of people who casually PvP’d exceeded the number who casually PvE’d.

Hehe, back during the Burning Crusade days, blizz did mention that they brought in the arenas and PvP esport into WoW because they think it’s good for the game’s longevity.

We will see when everyone has full gear. I also don’t think they will wait for that long if they think changes are needed.

I just think they are currently waiting to see, how top teams deal vs each other with similar gear. We shouldn’t forget, that a lot of imbalance comes from gear advantages!

But they also said, that they don’t want to change too much of the class design and the current pace. So I wouldn’t expect BfA 2.0 soon! Even though a lot of people in this forum wants to slow the game down a lot, most higher rated people actually enjoy the fast pace. It’s also often more skill, as predictions matter a lot.

Did Blizzard ever say that they weren’t gonna do any balance changes until AWC ends?

They do changes during the AWC too. I remember them doing changes randomly the day before one of the cups. Players got mad because they couldn’t really test them before it started.

I really wish they didnt nerf ONLY rogues then. Woulda been nice for us to stay op too

They shouldn’t balance around the 1% of teams. That’s my opinion of course.

There are issues that need to be looked at right now: Convoke damage, podtender, tone down damage from some specs. I’m all for a faster meta, but getting 2 shot is not really fun for anyone.

Idk when I get 7 lava burst overloads I think that’s super fun

Do you also like getting hit by a 25k full moon followed by two 15k starsurges in under a second?

Meh. I kick convoke instantly and don’t see it kill much. Once in a while I get shadowlands’d right in the face but what do you do

So they should balance for people who aren’t capable of playing their class? That’s what they did with Legion and BfA. Stuff like auto bubble, blade dance immunity, passive tanking destro locks, low skill assa rogues as top dd and so on was the result of it.

With SL they brought back the skill gameplay. That will of course result in tears and complains, as it used to be during all expansions (including MoP), but it’s overall a lot more fun! People love to think they are good players, but hands down, most of us can improve a lot. Some more than others. So the question is: Do we want skill to decide PvP or compositions? I prefer skill!!!

Saw Dakkroth playing two days ago in 2s on his Affli Lock. I was enjoying his games sooo much, as I was watching the return of skill for Warlocks. He was permanently kiting the big cooldowns of melees like Arms, Ret, WW, Feral. I watched like 10 games, he won every single one versus the so called counter specs for Affli but not because of passive class design but because of his skill.

He knew when to kite and when he could stay. When to use his cooldowns and when to wait. When to deal damage and when to cc. Even though all games were at least 35% dampening, it was still a lot of fun to watch because it was always action!

My friend only came back, and is only playing, because hes blowing people up in 2’s on a Fire Mage. If they get nerfed, he will probably quit the game. I had already decided to skip pvp myself before him and my ohter friend came back.

Leaving the game like this not only sucks, but it shows how little Blizzard cares and I cant be bothered to tryhard when even the Devs dont give a damn about it.

I was M+ and looking forward to Season 11 of LoL. But since my friends come back, I guess I’ll hang around and play with them until they get bored. Otherwise, no way I’d wait till march or even another sub period unless I was juste having fun in M+, which I was. It damn sure wasnt for the PvP.

If I’m gonna tryhard, I might as well pick LoL, where I can expect some balance patches and hotfixes when stuff is messed up.

Really wish they wouldn’t postpone an entire hotfix patch just for AWC. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if anything happens before then but I’m not holding out hope for it.

Yeah I mean I agree, but im not a dev. So I’m playing and trying to improve and the other stuff is whatever. For every arena I get in saying “oh crap its a fire mage/boomy/ret” there’s someone on the other side going “ugh its an ele/spriest” so its whatever

Actually it’s more fun to interrupt the spell and still get hit by it for a full 2 seconds afterwards, which is enough to kill any player two times over. Buggy laggy poorly designed mess of a spell.

I imagine GM PvE heroes spectating moonkin games and saying things like “haha thats what you get for PvPing!” when he convokes out of stealth and collateral kills the non-kill target from across the map.

It’s kinda-sorta close to being a good season, but close isn’t there.

It is true there are lots of PvP streamers. Thing is most of the viewers of WoW streams watch PvE streams. Asmongolds mount offs are more popular than the AWC.
