Confirmed on the wowhead interview, thank Chuck
âWe didnât want players to feel âmarginalizedâ for playing 23/24/23 âFeralâ Druid in a serious raiding guild and this is totally a legitimate concern about something that would totally happenâ. -t Brian Birmingham, Truly Amazing Talent
This is a huge mistake on blizzards part. Once again showing they donât really understand the game or how the players are going to play the game. They need to restrict dual spec in raids use.
Most raid teams are going to end up running 2-3 main healers because of this and expect healers to run DPS specs for easier encounters. Healers will be expected to carry dps sets on them and play dps.
Pure DPS classes will also be expected to swap between AOE spec and Single Target Spec.
Tanks will be expected to have a dps spec and dps gear at all times.
If you donât want to do any of the above youâre a cut from the roster.
There are other problems. But these are the most significant ones. Blizzard is so incompetent when it comes to how they handle their games. Remove LFD but allow spec swapping in raids. They got their priorities backwards.
And maintain their ilvl, gems, enchants, of course.
Then donât join guild that asks for that, or be the person who switches?
Some of us LIVE for that in wrath, itâs what we love about it.
Nice for Brian to stop being dumb and admit defeat. Hybrid specs stopped being a thing after classic. No one except some feral druids ever does a hybrid build anymore. You want to be good at 1 role, not crap at 2 roles.
Now we just need to get them to either connect the realms or unlock LFD.
Yeah, thatâs not a good argument. Itâs the old fashioned if you donât like it leave. Sorry, thatâs not how anything works.
If you want to play in a high end guild, which for me is the most fun, you have to accommodate that style of play. Blizzard needs to design the game so that it cannot be abused in that way.
I donât want to play in some low level mediocre guild. Iâll quit the game before I do that. Itâs a mistake not to limit spec swapping in raids, and youâll see why very soon.
Blizzard will very quickly realized not restricting dual spec was a mistake when they see guilds only running 1-3 healers and forcing everyone else to swap to dps for the easier encounters in a raid. Too bad you cannot play the class/spec you want anymore, now you have to swap to specs based on fight.
If thatâs the way the want to do, they shouldnât be stopping them.
Youâre just making a bunch of excuses to change the game for EVERYONE because YOU donât like something.
If you donât wanna do those things play with other people who donât⌠I wonât be requiring my raiders to have both specs used for PvE, however a lot will choose to do so because its effective and fun. Game doesnât need to be and wonât be designed around the sweatlords get over it.
Yup, Iâm always the guy who is the swing dps/healer because itâs what I enjoy.
How out of touch do you have to be to not know that players were already optimizing their specsâŚ
You donât know what youâre talking about.
Itâs not a matter of choice. Your guild will force itâs healers to play DPS on fights that donât require extra healers. Youâll see. Itâs going to be a bad time for everyone. You donât seem to be aware of how players actually play the game these days.
You just told me that I shouldnât expect them to design the game around how I want people to play it. Yet, youâre saying the exact same thing.
You want them to design the game around how you want to play it.
Yeah, youâre just dumb. Itâs bad game design and undermines the importance of class roles.
My way isnât removing anything, you can choose to not be the swing. Your way removes the option of being the swing.
Itâs also a change to the game
You donât need to argue. Theyâre not restricting it, so who cares what someone on the forum is saying?
Because itâs fun to argue with these weird people.
My tweets may have actually contributed to something, neato.
The thinking that people would just not bring optimized specs isâŚnaĂŻve?
Pretty much, whoâs going to bring that half tank/half dps lol
Even without dualspec youâd just go respec.
Okay, well clearly you arenât someone that likes to min-max for fun, and thatâs okay. But you have to realize that some people do min-max for fun.
If fight #1 is very heal intensive but fight #2 is not, would you rather kick healers 4 and 5 from the raid group to bring in Bench DPS 1 and 2? Or would you rather keep the same roster and just let healers 4 and 5 quickly/easily switch to a DPS spec via dual spec? Personally Iâd rather keep the same roster.
Plus itâs fun being the flex raider sometimes. Never gets boring.
If you donât want to do these things⌠donât join a guild that asks it of you. Or make it known ahead of time that you donât plan on utilizing dual spec and to not expect it from you. Some guilds will be okay with that, some wont. Join the one that fits you best.
But it should be unrestricted for the people who DO want to play that way.
I mean, probably. But that goes back to what I said earlier - find a guild that wont do that if you are so against it. But swapping for fights to make things easier is nice.
A lot of people just want the game to remain untouched. What YOU are asking for is for them to design the game around how you want it.
