i just use use questie thats it and the only macro i use is an assist macro for dungeons.
I use Spy cause I like to fall down my stairs very often
I’d like to do that but without color coded nameplates on mobs there would be no way for me to tell what I have aggro on when fighting big packs. The advantages of using addons are too big to pass up.
Does this help in PvP, so you can know if someone is targeting you? (Within 20 yards) it’s usually obvious if they’re running at you but like you said any advantage is helpful
Unless it’s Spy that’s kind of like you’re wall hacking in counter strike. That shouldn’t be in the game
I don’t know. Should be really easy to test though. I’m using ClassicThreatMeter
Ah okay, thanks
Not sure why you would want to play this game without Macros and Addons. It’s pretty rough without them, but I agree, to each their own.
Macros, are an in game function. I wouldn’t consider not using macros as making the game anymore “raw”, Just my opinion.
There are very few games I can play without mods/add-ons. WoW is not one of them. The default UI is trash.
Macros are part of the base game, so I’d consider playing with them to still be playing “raw.”
As a tank the only addon i get upset at people not having is DBM and Threatmeters otherwise do w.e
I used to be that way. Even in Vanilla. For the longest time and again when I started Classic I didn’t use any add-ons or macros at all. I never saw enough value in them to really convince me to pursue them.
Later in Vanilla - and now in Classic too - I’ve broken down and ventured lightly into the space. I only use TitanBar, Atlas, and Recount.
TitanBar I made the exception for because it wasn’t a total UI mod and was just a heads-up kind of display of various metadata (repair %, current gold, xp/hr/ttl, current coords) that was non-intrusive.
Atlas I used it just for the map coords, dungeon maps (before they eventually built them into the game), and boss loot tables
And Recount I use strictly personally and don’t broadcast just as a way to see how well or poorly I was doing compared to the rest of the group in terms of dmg output.
I never used any macros in Vanilla but made the exception this time around as a Warrior to make some of the opening moves easier when tanking dungeons. (i.e. Charge & Pop Bloodrage & Switch Stance with a single button)
I think having to write a script in order for a key to do more than one function, even if you have to press it each time, to be a form of easing the process and in turn not being so “raw”
But that’s just a personal opinion, you are 100% correct that macros are in fact a feature of the game and have been so since release. ALSO the concept of “rawness” is completely subjective hahahaha im just giving my take : )
Macros = keybind in my book. They are basic aspect of the game.
Addons IDK, i dont use them for long time, but for pvp few are just OP (cc track, cast bar, bartender are the ones I use)
Also im not gonna lie, i do put on meters for raids because i like to see how much im pushing, fella gets curious sometimes y’know…but that’s as far as it goes
Questy and threat meters for tanking
Haha, that’s awesome !
I too, enjoy playing with a self-imposed handicap and only at a portion of my maximum potential .
What’s more, I turn this preference of mine into some sort of identity, and post online so other people know what a purist I am .
Jeeze, any more passive agressive and you would do an “imagine” reply hahahaha
why not use the tools they give you? do you eat soup by shoving your face in the bowl?
Because i don’t need the assistance and i’m doing just fine.
That’s the point i just use a spoon, i don’t need any external assistance as to where i put the spoon, how deep in the bowl should i put it, or a tracker as to how many times iv had a spoonful of soup and how much i have left, or a massive alert that tells me when my soup will get cold, or a fan to blow on my soup for me.
I just eat the soup with a spoon, no more no less… At the end of the day, sipping on the bowl technique is the best though hahaha
