So like many others putting this put into the open this particular quest has the potential to prevent players from actually being able to finish the chain in time and this is a very real problem.
The fixes to this would be the following: either make the Nightmare fragments a shared drop or significantly buff their drop rate.
Given its 1 week away now the clock is ticking and such a change is a quick and easy fix.
It’s so weird that the quest after fragments can drop the quest item(green scepter) to everyone if they are on quest, but the fragments themselves only one member can loot it.
2006 design that aged like milk, and its so weird they changed the brood rep bottleneck to be more tolerable and pug-friendly but didnt change this one. Ashenvale fragment in particular is hardest one to get since the area is so tiny and contested on normal hours its not even funny.
42000 rep reduced to 21000 and the Qiraji crystals opened advanced. What else they have to do to lower the threshold of the black Qiraji tank mount? It is not supposed to be compeleted by everyone.
You’re correct, but those who start the quest should be given the opportunity to finish it.
Many suggestions like my own are just asking for group loot of white quest items, or a guaranteed drop from a specific raid boss… not just 12hrs of rng. Keep the scale and majesty of the quest, but take out the needless suffering.
neither is warlord/high warlord/hand of rag/thunderfury but here we are. you are missing the point of how much of a bottleneck the nightmare shards are and the lack of foresight from the devs flooding the player pool trying to go for it because the rep became a trivial thing which was always the first bottleneck of someone committed to completing the quest. not to mention the slap in the face to everyone who did the rep before it became a faceroll. they had an opportunity to not flop on this with the announcement of nightmare dragons being in one instance as “new” content. putting the fragments on those dragons at each portal would have at least preserved the notion the scrub lord quest requires a whole raid team working together to complete, though i expect those encounters are still too buggy and unfinished to push live so its not an option. furthermore, the difficulty of the mobs, dismal drop rate, and no incentive for anyone not doing the quest makes it very unlikely to find necessary help unless you go for a pay to win model. which is what LFG is spammed with. “300g per person to help” etc. and even once you get out there its perma camped.
ANYWAYS hows your guys’ day going?
I believe the issue with this quest line is unlike all the other aspects of the quest it isn’t just a grind it is heavily luck based. Most of the other quests are long but consistent and you make progress over time as you check off boxes. The fragment quest you can spend 8 hours with your guild farming and not get anything. Originally when I saw the new world boss raids I thought they would use that as an opportunity for the fragments like having trash in their that drops the fragments and is behind an instance so you don’t have to fight for tags. Same grind but don’t have to fight other players for tags. Either I feel something needs to be changed because I know people who want to do this quest even after the scarab lord stuff is over and this step is straight up impossible to do without getting your whole guild to waste their time for you. No one is going to do that after the 6th.
With all due respect, spare me this crap. This is a case where you either change all the bottlenecks (brood rep and dragon shards, basically), or you leave the questline unchanged. Doing it half cooked basically screws everyone over,as guilds who legit farmed the bugs and are working on green dragons now have to contend with a new influx of players that didnt exist in 2006 contesting the spawns, and those players likewise have to deal with guild groups doing the same to them.
Either dont change it, or change all the bottlenecks. A change thats only halfway done only leads to negatives like this.
This guy gets it
issue is, by the time they are here, its too late.
Agree! Change it all or change none of it. My guild farmed carapaces the OG way and we’ve been stuck farming Hinterlands frag. Every day the tagging is worse. Every day people are more and more tired and just don’t want to do it any more, but everything else is completed. It blows.
There can be only one. literally the name of the quest. Not every one can get it, its baked into the game. if you cant rally your guild to help you tag mobs or pvp than you don’t get it. simple as that.
It’s actually not. Those people who are complaining about the drop rating is because they just not have enough prparation for the quest line. They should ever heard the quest line and the drop rate since the classic has opened this quest once again. If they did the quest in the first week I would like to say it would not that happening. People should have foreseeability before they do anything.
Not all of them. A good chunk still havent gotten them. Either way how you spin it even with the flood gates its still a low amount. So buffing this drop wouldnt harm anyone at all.
There are some things, like the infamous Ashenvale fragments area, that preparation cannot actually fix. It’s a design choice that only made sense in 2006 when very few guilds were going after it, instead of now when almost every guild in SoD goes with it along any guy that got the brood rep farmed in tanaris.
Again, sometimes its inevitable even if you prepare for it. I think they shouldn’t have made brood rep easy to get if they were unwilling to also compromise and change how green dragons work in ashenvale and the nightmare portal areas.
Either go all the way in and address both bottlenecks or leave it unchanged. a half-cooked change like this is just insulting and much worse than leaving it untouched.
-Im working on this and would like to see this through, obviously.
-Others are still waiting and stuck even with all the prep and they could use the help here.
Regardless i dont understand why people are even trying to debate or argue this. For the sake of debating or feeling like they are in an argumentative mood? This doesnt actually affect them if they buff it but helps others so i cant understand the nay say on this.
