Honestly, if they instanced that portion of the quest it wouldnt be nearly as bad as it is. Sure its easy for someone who has the scepter to come onto the forums and act like they’re the king but not everyone has a consistent 40+ players behind them. At least instancing the nightmare drops would level the playing field for the rest of the people attempting, including pugs.
It’s still a group-wide effort to do this quest.
Maybe they put in a ton of work to get carapaces done then a lot of others come in later once they had an easier in and are now complaining.
I myself and my team put in a lot of work for the carapaces as well. Either way there are others who were 1st week into this and still havent gotten the drop so at this point Blizz can throw this one bone.
Opening the crystals is what has ruined the SL quest. It let everyone skip the bug turnins, crashing the price of fragments and bottlenecking everyone on the drop quest.
It’s most certainly been buffed now, not sure the last time you tried grinding them. We saw 3 fragments in Ashenvale within 15 kills, then I did hinterlands with a group of pugs this evening and we saw like 6 fragments in the matter of a couple hours. I had already finished the Feralas ones yesterday but there have been people reporting running in and getting the fragment on their first few kills today lol.
ashenvale actually has fewer packs of dragonkin to make room for the portal to incursions… used to be at least 2 more packs that were in that area.
i enjoyed helping on the quest for the first few hours but now it just feels like an absolute slog and just feels like bad game design. just up the drop rate or make everybody able to loot the fragments, there’s been enough vocal support for this on the forums.
Would be great, havent again yet because work schedule but that would be great.
Yup its great. It makes pugging it more viable too, because everyone can get it relatively quickly.

They should just give everyone who logs on during the AQ phase the mount for free at this point.

You still gotta do work, you have a limited time window and need the help of a community. Unsure what your definition of the word Free is but you might wanna re evaulate it.

Many have been reporting quicker drop rates in the zones. You could tell while farming too because the zones were pretty quiet, and the groups that came in to get the fragments were also leaving pretty quickly.
Also, the mount is far more trivial to obtain than it was in classic, but still does require a little elbow grease still in SoD. The initial 0 to neutral grind can be done in 24 hours now, then fragments were the biggest bottleneck, but thats fixed now. You still need to get a group for certain bosses though and the raids still only give one dfd/shard per kill, so unless you have a guild group or run HR pugs, its pretty tough to get solo still.
At this rate, the new AQ HM mounts will be far more rare/coveted than the Scarab Lord mounts with how much easier the questline is, but I don’t see a problem with that. Its SoD so they made it so more could see the questline.
I agree with you! The mount is too hard to obtain. Blizzard NEEDS to make it significantly easier.
Like its not free by any means and if you didnt community build and figure it out it ain’t happening.
But yes 100% its easier its a no brainer its just in this particular step with the frags its good the drop rate is better simply because you need others for it and their time. Their time is also valuable so given the nature of how SoD approached this and its window its not unreasonable to expect or want a better drop rate.
