Nightborne: The Fixes We Need

This isn’t even my thread, and he’s used that line on multiple threads where I have barely posted outside of this one and Why High Elves Don’t Work.

Get off your high horse stalker-kun, or reveal what main you’re sockpuppet alt-ing for.

I don’t care if this is your thread or not. You became upset about a very memeish comment that is constantly being used against people who want High Elves. I simply then decided to look into what you had written and saw that you were being hypocritical, because you have used incorrect information (and even called it “hard to swallow facts”) as well as insulted people on many occasions, so I called you on it.

Seriously, if you didn’t want to be called a hypocrite, you shouldn’t have acted like a hypocrite. It’s just that simple. And there’s no tin-foil had conspiracy here, but good one on that comment in trying to make you sound “sane”, lol.

Racial aesthetic updates aren’t an allied race implementation suggestion? Seems like the two topics are unrelated or something huh…

But anyways, yes kind of mind-boggling Blizz didn’t use the actual nightborne models we were introduced in Legion and went off that.

Again: using the old models would be terrible. Those models are full of problems that you don’t notice in NPCs but you’d be complaining about their low-quality if made playable.

It’d be way more work to turn the old models into playable ones than what Blizzard chose to do.

The problem with nightborne is that there was little time to work on the preorder allied races. Nightborne received the most work of all four races, but they also the one that needed more work, so they are very unfinished.

This is wholly false. Of the 4, Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, and Lightforged Draenei got very minimal, limited options, yet somehow Void Elves came out with a slew of skin tones from pale blue to dark purple, a completely unique set of 10+ hairs, unique facial hair options, and freaking animated hair on top of that.

It was quite clear where all the effort went, and given how Void Elves are the most populous allied race now, it’s not hard to infer why.

Now you are just whining.

First off, counting the number of skins is pointless. Void elves have 6 skins, but four of them are slight variations of pale blue.

Void elf models and faces are pretty much the same as blood elves’, no change at all. The “animated hair” is just a variation of blood elves’ ponytail hair styles.

Nightborne got a new animation for females, entirely new faces and body proportions changed. May seem small, but it means a lot of work was done on them. Which is probably why they ended up lacking customization options.

ALL preorder allied races came out very limited. There’s no point in saying one is that much better than the other because it had four more hairstyles. Blizzard rushed to get them done in time for preorder and it shows.

Honestly, the hair styles for female NB are, in my personal opinion, all terrible. I can’t stand any of them, and was hoping there’d be some better choices. I can’t stand the topnot look, the balding look, in fact the only one I ‘kind of’ like is the hairstyle with a silly CROWN on it, of which ruins transmog. I think they really hit the mark here, and was extremely disappointed with them on this one.

At minimum I’d really like the faces to reflect the NPCs, and I’d really like options for armor more like what they had, too. Why can’t we have small skirts like Thalyssra? Or a robe like Valtrois’s? Or heck, the random merchants in Suramar are more dapper than the armor we got. (And tunic toggle pls)

I just wish the males didn’t look like a Night Elf and an ogre had a baby

Because once you are using a player model, you are limited to player gear.

Just to point out… that “slew of skin tones” the Void Elves got? Yea 4 of them are basically identical. 4 of the 6 are that pale blue just with very slightly different tinting on the hands and feet. So for practical purposes, Void Elves have 3 skin tones much like Nightborne and Lightforged Draenei.

Now don’t get me wrong, I think Nightborne and Lightforged need A LOT of love when it comes to customization additions and I hope they get them soon. I just felt the need to point out that, despite the number of skin options that seem to be available, Void Elves really only have 3 skin tones to choose from. Pale Blue, Deep Blue, and Greyish-Purple.

I like 2 of the Nightborne female hairstyles, but I agree with you that the crown one only works if your mog matches the crown (i.e. the heritage armor). It would be nice if Nightborne males and females got some hair style proliferation and also for there to be a non-crown version of that hairstyle cause its quite nice.

Yeah, I agree. I’d love more hairstyles in general! And I know male nightborne players really want more face options. I hope they’re considering something at least.

I hope they dont slack on updating the pre purches ARs we can all agree they need alot more work done for them.

But seriously can they just fix the positioning on the female NBs characrer portrait already? She looks like shes trying to keep her head above water…

Yes the Nightborne males are in a particularly poor state. All of their faces are fugly like Night Elf males, except Night Elf males have ONE face that doesn’t look busted as hell and that’s the one face the Nightborne males didn’t get.

Add to that, that Nightborne males inherited Night Elf males’ weird Popeye-esque body proportions but worse because the devs felt the need to make their legs super spindly and thin, and they have a very “top heavy” look to them, like those guys at the gym who always seem to skip leg day.

Throw the poor selection of hairstyles on top (not that Night Elf males have a great selection either) and the overall result is that Nightborne males are ugly as hell no matter what options you pick.

This is not about High Elves you know?

I find it amussing how you guys cry about “trolling and spite” while all of you have been trying to screw other people’s requests.

I’d play a Nightborne if they weren’t anorexic looking.

Fixed that for you.

I think I saw someone mention ptr shoulders. Decided to check for myself and went with the biggest shoulders I had. They look the same to me.

Also I couldn’t compare the distance of the camera to my character because the live screen I took before leaving the house and I came back and took the 2nd lol.

I did however notice that offhands are no longer hidden and clip horribly into female legs. 10/10!

Honestly though I just want them to scale down the shoulders a bit, give us a bit more options, move the dumb chin piece of the heritage armor to the helmet instead of the chest and fix the belt clipping, fix the hair textures because they’re really flat and look bad imo.

I would race change to Nightborne if they were the same model as Night Elves. Mostly I want the flip-jump.
