Nightborne: The Fixes We Need

Antler Tauren don’t live in Mulgore. Nightborne do not live in trees. The leveling experience would be so.. wierd.

You seriously don't see how almost NO ONE cares about this? People are willing to admit the "RPG" of the MMORPG of WoW has been all but removed, that's all you're talking about.

No one reads quest text. Even those that once cared about the story have given up thanks to Blizzards inept handling of it and their reliance on retconning things to fit.

And even if I somehow wanted to agree with you, what ACTUALLY happens in this "story" you claim is so important? You start in Highmountain, talk to some elders... and then take a portal to Orgrimmar. THAT'S ALL IT TAKES????? That's REALLY the rpg-hook you're going to hang all this bs on?? Start in your "real" zone because zomgrpg .... then ... take a portal.

You ... CAN'T ... be serious.

I’m going to assume you’re either trolling or stupid. But just because a lot of WoWs rpg elements have declined doesn’t mean Blizz should cater to the lowest common denominator (you) and just go “lol barber shop option”.

A lot of people care about story, and their characters being fully fleshed.

And yeah, the whole portal thing is a little half baked already. But it does make sense to a degree, since the “starting zone” where we learn about the race is their unlocking scenario.

WoW is still an rpg. A lot of the stuff has been removed or half baked, but that doesn’t mean we should want for Blizzard to continue that trend. You’re playing a game where you’re an orc warrior. If you want no rpging, go play Fortnite, I’m sure you’d be much happier there.

Please make the shoulders smaller, especially on males.

Like you said; it only has to work for a single race. Just two character models. There's really no excuse for them look bad in any way, like those god damn belts.

When your orb of deception is on you can see how the heritage armor looks on a different race. So technically a void elf can wear the nightborne armor for 5 minutes lol

You agree with me, but begin by calling me stupid. Welcome to GD, I guess :|

I never said I AGREE with the removal of all the RPG elements. I'm just citing it as a FACT. I didn't ASK for the HMT "starting zone" to not even be a zone, but simply a "hello! This is HMT! Now take this portal to Org!"

I'm calling that out for what it is, you agree it's lame... but can't or won't agree this proves how unnecessary and stupid the whole Allied Race gimmick really is.

Doing all the quests in Legion, learning about Huln, and everything else associated with grinding out the rep in that zone SHOULD BE PLENTY to unlock all that HMT ***REALLY*** is -- a simple barbershop option for Taurens to have big antlers. That's all it is. YOU AGREE WITH ME... but you won't admit it completely. Because this is GD.

That's ok. Anyone being rational about it can see it for what it is. It's a MAU gimmick and nothing more. NONE of the AR have true "starting zones." Your main chr plays through the only truly unique content to unlock the race (which in itself is nothing more than 2-3 breadcrumb quests in the associated zones). Any new chrs your make then play through the content EVERY OTHER RACE PLAYS THROUGH. Nothing about it is unique. Everyone should be calling Blizzard out for the charade that it is. It's pathetic.

I just think that a barber shop option would be even worse. I don’t mind the starting at 20 and portal thing. I find it silly but it’s not the worst situation.

The fact is that each of the allied races have cultural differences than their parent races. Void Elves, Nightborne, Zandalari and Kul Tiran would not be implementable as barber shop option because they each have a model not obtainable on their current faction. The other four could, but are much more flavorful with being their own races because they have a unique culture, history, voicelines.. etc. The current implentation isn’t perfect, but it’s much better than as a barber shop option.
Let's keep the discussion civil.

I just want all Allied races to get tuned up to the par of Zandarli/Dark Iron/Mag'har, and in this thread, I've tried to describe how to do so for Nightborne.

Really want that recolored heritage armor now that we've seen Mag'har get 3 of their colorings.
I'm posting in support of fleshing out the Nightborne customization options as well as addressing player concerns about the model and it's authenticity.

Much like the Void Elves, I believe more customization options would definitely help matters and I do hope all of the Legion based ARs are expanded upon at some point as I feel they were rushed ie lacking, and hope that they are brought up to par with BfA ARs.
I really want them to update the tattoos. I hate how I can never really see them unless I look at specific angles like a terrible hologram from the 90's.

Modifying the Heritage armor to show off more skin, and thus more tattoos (especially for the males), would go great lengths to make the tattoos more visible.

When Nightborne first hit the PTR, the tattoos hadn't had UV maps done yet, so they were just bright textures on the skin, but I daresay they looked better because you could actually see them. They need to be much brighter for sure.
Anyone know if they've said anything about improving Nightborne models? :c

They said it was an illusion when we asked what they were hiding.

I am bumping this to the front in light of the impending forum migration. Thank you to all who have posted support here and in the original thread. Perhaps Blizzard will get to Nightborne fixes in the future.

I hope so, too. Nightborne are in desperate need of a lot of work when it comes to customization.

I think we also really need a racial that allows free movement through Suramar, unaccosted by illusions or even the demons. We are one of the natives, even while the city was in lockdown I feel a Nightborne would have been able to move about. The need for an Illusion is rather silly.

Even if they want the gameplay the same, just change the Illusion so it doesn’t change your model for Nightborne.

I love Nightborne, but I just cannot play a Warrior who would probably tear all his muscles in his arm trying to pick up a sword.

Please fix the male models.

I think this post might get much more traction if it were posted on Reddit. Please consider doing so OP.

This is very well thought out and put together. Agree all the way!

Suramar is a place I hate to love, it’s so damn hard to navigate even with goblin gliders, but they did a damn good job with that majestic city and the endless questline is enjoyable from start to finish.

I was seriously considering moving over to the Horde just for this race alone (mind you the Zandalari look great too), however after seeing how drastically different they are from the people we helped in Shal’aran I believe I’ll just stick with the Hot Topic Elves and Dwarves.

I don’t mind the old or angry faces, in fact it’s about the few things that sets them apart from NE. The eyes and chins however, those are the first two things that need a fix, especially the eyes, until NB get the slits that NPCs have they won’t look proud or regal.

Racials suck, but honestly only normies pick a race based on racials rather than looks.

I just want us to get the proper treatment that we saw the NPCs get. We’re like a failed batch of cookies in the Nightborne mold pan. :sob:
