Nightborne: The Fixes We Need

TLDR

Saw skins, faces etc.

They haven’t updated Worgen or Goblin. Don’t be to hopeful

Well they confirmed that they are working on Worgen and Goblin.

What's more annoying is that back when these races first came out, they said they're already adding more options to the races that are lacking on certain fronts.

Not a single update to these races has happened, except the one where they ruined the Nightborne faces even more.

Yeah Nightborne definitely need A LOT more customization, it's pretty sad how few options there are, and how there are even fewer good options, everyone uses the same 2-3 hairstyles and the same face for their Nightborne.

Nightborne just shouldn't have been an allied race based on a Night Elf model. It was a really lackluster way to incorporate an awesome race we got to meet in Legion, and frankly the implementation just doesn't meet Blizzard's typical polish standards.

Nope, playable Nightborne are supposed to be the ugly exiled cave elves that used magic berries as makeup to cover up their !@#$ head skin lesions. They're meant to be gross and disheveled looking.

If you want real elves, they're called night elves and they're over on alliance waiting for you.

Not really, those were the Nightfallen and they, plus the rest of the Nightborne have been cured thanks to the Arcan'dor. The playable Nightborne could have been a Nightfallen or not, there's nothing in the lore or game to say that the playable Nightborne were specifically the Nightfallen. The Nightborne are supposed to be beautiful and regal looking, they provided customization options for players who want to look like they're mid-recovery and options for those who don't, but they really severely lack variety, and definitely lack the regal faces of the NPC Nightborne characters.

Hairstyles are independent of all of that, and there should be a lot more of them.

Yeah you pretty much summed up all my gripes with them, OP. The heritage armor in particular for me. Like you said; it only has to work for a single race. Just two character models. There's really no excuse for them look bad in any way, like those god damn belts. I hate that I made mine male as well. Unlike the rest of his people my guy is apparently a total prude.

It hasn't stopped me from playing Nightborne, obviously, but they definitely need more in the ways of options to at least be on par with the other races.

Void Elves have gone on to become the third most populous Alliance Race, despite their controversial arrival and mixed reception. I feel a large reason for that is because they got a huge swath of customization options, including a dozen hairstyles and even animated hair!

For how fleshed out the Nightborne in Legion were, it really shouldn't have been hard to translate this to players. Everything was already right there! Where's my glowing arcane fingertips? The flowing arcane strands in my hair? My slanted, haughty, snobby eyes?

Where's my Dispel Illusions and Masquerade racial? Where's my sexy set of Nightborne weapons?

It's literally all just walking around on NPCs and has been for two years. What's the point of even including Nightborne as an option and making a big deal about them as an Allied race if you're going to do it so half-assed?

Too late now. Blizzard has your money.

We'll see changes to Nightborne in about 4 expansions.

Maybe.

Probably not.

i agree the heritage armor needs to be split up in pieces so people can actually create mogs from it.

all 4 launch allied races need major improvements. what's sad is with how rushed bfa is, it's entirely unlikely they'll ever be addressed. allied races are such a bad thing long term because you KNOW they'll never get updates.

I wish they gave me a Arcane version of Shadowmeld instead of Arcane Pulse. Kinda useless as a mage. But lord, am I pretty!
I hate how withered they look. Too damn skinny with old people faces for every choice. Why can't we look like we did while hiding behind the illusionary appearance?

Yeah we need to be using the actual Nightborne NPC models. The difference is staggering.
+1 Nightborne need a big improvement.

Yeah, and truth be told, Nightborne are actually a far more interesting race so far. We know next to nothing about Void Elves because they just came into existence, Nightborne have lore spanning 10,000 years and we got to participate in helping their revolution and liberation, etc. People wanted Nightborne to be playable the moment they came into the game, so I am surprised that blizzard would do such a poor job at implementing them..

I am fully inclined to agree with op here.
Nightborne were the first race I was excited to unlock because I was blown away by them in suramar. then I unlocked them and immediately felt bad I slogged through leveling to get the heritage armor hoping it's make up for the uncool. it didnt.

If I could burn that tree twice after that statement I would.

Thanks for writing up this post. I hope someone at Blizzard sees this. Even with all of the mentioned issues, I still like my Nightborne but I hope Blizzard will spend a bit more time and add the polish this race deserves.

I'm so down for this. NBs deserve better customization. I also hate how their eyes aren't don't match NPCs. Thank you for writing this OP!

What also annoys me about the male model is how protruded their chest look. I feel like their upper-chest is too wide in relation to their shoulders.
