Neither do I. All four preorder races were rushed. I can say for sure void elves were the laziest of them all. The thing is that void elves are just a recolor, while others needed bigger changes, so void elves fit better in a tight time window.
Laziest and easiest to pull off really. They look very different with little effort.
Every time someone suggests void elves are better than the others, to me is just āthe grass is greener on the other side of the fenceā effect. Void elves werenāt done with any care. All their skins are just the same with slight tints. The females lack jewelry options. They donāt have a noticiable number of hairstyles over other allied races. They donāt have tattoos or other new custom categories. I think they only really have in their favor is number of hair colors, but most of them are blue or grey with slight tint changes. And letās not talk about loreā¦
IDK, I think that overall Void Elves have a good modelā¦ but thatās because they are simply the BE model, with a paintjob and edited hairstyles -thatās why they have so many hairstyles compared to other AR, half of them are just āwiggledā versions of existing hair styles. Most other races kinda just have their unique hairstyles.
Make the Male counterpart look like he enjoys life. Looks like he got the wrong order at McDonalds again.
Heritage armor was kind of a letdown.
Something about the females voice sounds kinda off. Iām sure itās just me.
Noā¦ Void Elves deserve updates just like everyone else, as they are somewhat lacking visually themselves.
I mean Valq is not wrong here, Even tho Void Elves could use an update, itās not the same level of need of a quality pass than NB.
Void Elves ARE of the best quality, but mostly because they are strikingly different but very easily so, using one of the most popular models.
Honestly, of course every race deserves updates but the Nightborne really are very severely lacking in customization in comparison to Void Elves. I would like Void Elves to receive black and white hair colour, a pale high elf skin colour and a couple face options that arenāt just the Blood Elf faces, but none of that should come before Nightborne get updates. They need more faces that resemble the art and NPCās, they need A LOT more hairstyles and they only have 3 skin colours so they could use a few more of those as well. I am hoping once they finish the Goblin and Worgen MU they will go back and fill out the Nightborne.
The Legion ARs should receive updates and an expanded aesthetic in one fell swoop, as whether or not Void Elves or Nightborne should get updates first is highly debatable as while both leave much to be desired, I personally like the end result of Nightborne much more than I do Void Elves.
But like I said the first ARs need enhanced aesthetics across the board and while I do believe Nightborne need updates, they donāt deserve it more than anyone else, nor do Void Elves.
Personally I think they fall on different ends of the spectrum. Nightborne have a good concept and bad execution, and NEās have a bad concept with good execution.
Nigthborne have deep context related to their culture; their aesthetics, their demeanor, their skin tone even. All is related to their context of being a noble, decadent class living under a bubble. Conceptually they are amazing, but it all falters on the execution. Limited options, janky animations, marked aesthetic differences from concept art/other iterations.
Void Elves lack any contextual reasoning for their aesthetic choices. Does the Void make you blue and makes your hair wiggly and gives you tentacles? I guess so? It didnāt for Alleria but okay? Their aesthetic is unmoored, itās literally what they thought would look cool. And it does tbh. They have varied options for customization. But the reasoning for why they have those aesthetic choices doesnāt exist. Their concept is weak, they are just cool looking blue elves.
Even the fact their Heritage armor is Ethereal inspired seems random, Why? Sure, there is a connection given that Locus-Walker and Shadreen seem to be their teachers, but so is Alleria. What is the reason they choose to follow ethereal aesthetics? We have zero insight on Void Elves on Ethereals, so the connection we have just doesnāt cut it.
Void Elves are devoid of a meaningful aesthetic identity, while NB are the opposite. Yet VE simply look better quality wise, with more options.
Insufficient payment for reading all that, frankly.
I agree and I feel both are watered down and donāt live up to their full potential, I feel this way about Lightforged and Highmountain as well. While I admittedly havenāt paid much attention to any requests made to improve Highmountain, they could have also did more with Lightforged aesthetically, give them a gold skin tone or two, give them red hair, have silver tattoos that contrast with gold tones.
They missed the mark on the first 4 races the most while KTs, Zandalari, Dark Irons and Magāhar have a much more diverse and eclectic aesthetic and all ARs should live up to this standard.
You know how long us worgen have been waiting on updated visuals right? Donāt hold your breath.
When I came back to wow, I made an orc and ran all the way to orgrimmar to see the players there and talk to people.
Thereā¦in front of the Auction house, I saw this female character with long silver hair. I was looking at her from behind. She had the perfect body and posture and the air of mysteriousness around her.
Instantly I fell in love. I couldnāt resist but say āhelloā to her.
She turned around then I sawā¦
It wasnāt sheā¦she was a male! A male Nightborne character!
I was literally shocked and ever since that day, have been playing the alliance.
Yeah I agree with your assessment on this. Conceptually the Nightborne are my favorite race, I love their story, I love their culture, I love the personality of the race but I do feel they were executed terribly.
My support to this! I canāt stand the way my nightborne looks right now
You simply take away Nightborne racial mailbox and add Shadowmeld and guess what would happen?
The racials are horribad.
right? I am constantly changing how mine looks because Iām not satisfied ever, too few options and everyone always looks the same.
Iāve settled on some good transmog, but they donāt do much to help the race look better, more true to NPC form, or have stronger representation.
We need a quality pass on all 4 Legion Allied Races, before we spread too thin.
When i heard the horde were getting nightborne i was excited because the NPC models were great.
What we got was not great, and is an unacceptable quality level for blizzard. They cut corners by altering the night elf model instead of fully rigging the model they had already made, and we ended up with an ugly buggy mess.
Whatās upsetting is that they put a lot of effort into Kul Tirans. Built them from the ground up. Couldnāt get the same treatment for the Nighborne though could we.
