Nightborne: The Fixes We Need

Yeah, but realistically there would be Nightborne of all age groups and while many became Withered, many also did not. In fact I would say the vast majority did not, and the citizens inside Suramar never looked aged.

I agree with the choice in making the models slimmer and more gaunt, to reflect their evolutionary differences from Night Elves, but they really need more faces that look the way they were portrayed both in concept and in-game as NPC’s. I’m fine with them doing more withered-esque, weathered faces, too if they really want to but there’s only 1 option for female characters that looks younger and that is not near enough.

Also, hair. There’s like 2 options worth using and they’re not even that good.

i agree, they shouldn’t stop making improvements and changes to old things just because they are constantly working on new things.

Just to remind everyone… Tyrande and Malfurion are also 10, 000 years old. They seem to look fairly young and healthy.

Yes, and not to mention, Tyrande was born in Suramar, many, many eons ago! And she doesn’t look withered in the least bit.

Definitely the most craptastic, amateurish, epic fail and unprofessional AR to date.

If there was a way to make you guys no longer be elves that would be cool.

I look forward to more customization of course, as I hope all the races will receive - maybe in a huge expansion feature. Race-unique animations for all races would also be entirely welcome! I would imagine the Nightborn’s animations having flare and some elegant / refined style to them, in a sense, a bit fancier - perhaps with bits of 16th-17th century French dance and etiquette inspiration incorporated into their casting animations. And possibly some fencing maneuvers or similarities to spell casts and melee abilities.

I’m very satisfied and happy with our Nightborn, and if I’d like anything as far as immediate inclusions to their kit, improvements and/or additions, it would be to have the slit eyes, as they truly encapsulate the proud, noble Nightborne as well as embody their charismatic perhaps a little snooty, passionate society. And some long elegant curly hairstyles that speak of their fancy culture - long twirls of white hair!

Small race specific animations or idles would really be neat. While the entire Allied Race system kind of hinges on not having to do entirely separate animation sets or dance, it would be nice to have a couple unique things per Allied Race thrown in there, akin to the Nightborne idle stance.

There are many idles only used by NPCs. The Nightborne party waitstaff with those awesome masks, for instance.

In general, more customization and uniqueness for each race, Allied or otherwise, is something severely lacking in WoW, and that trend continues, and in many ways gets worse, with Allied Races.

I feel completely unsatisfied with my Nightborne, Suramar was one of the most beautiful places made in the game, with one of the best questlines, as if the place was not enough to be abandoned, the AR is rotten ugly.

When I enter Shal’aran, I’m more certain that my character is a counterfeit and cheap copy.
I hope they change that, that they perfect the NPC model (texture) and give us that, which is what we expect from the beginning. I have never seen a model so disappointing, it does not look like a night elf, nor does it look like the race itself. Rotten. Awful. I hope they change that, and they add new customizations and npcs clothes!

It definitely feels weird to start in the Nighthold and our first NPC we see is Thalyssra who looks way the hell better than us. Valtrois is down the path who also will always look better than us.

Even the guards who have our model brandish the Nightborne weapons we don’t get. You start your Nightborne and are immediately surrounded by everything that could’ve been.

Exactly my thought!

Several times I’ve created a Nightborne hoping that I’d grow fond of them despite the inconsistencies. But every time I’d go and compare myself to Silgryn, who’s walking around the fountain outside, and the differences is just too big.

I just wish they’d buff the slow. It’s just so bad in comparison to other races.

as a NB main (somewhat unwillingly, but i dont like buying race changes), support all the way.

the females look drastically less ugly than the purple grandpas but that doesnt mean they look like a finished product.

It would be nice to look as good as Oculeth.
I cane back from a 5 year hiatus, unlocked the nb first and was severely disappointed.
I understand they didnt want them to be super pretty like the blood elves but its so grossly displeasing to look upon.

Definitely need to get a quality pass on Nightborne, Highmountain, and Lightforged.

The quality gap between them and Void Elves onward is palpable.

I really disagree on void elves being of higher quality… they are just repainted blood elves…

(Your mask fits well with the heritage set, btw)

I mean, they ARE higher quality… because they are just a simply repaint of another race; Nightborne were more tinkered with, but the lack of care is what has caused the glitches.

Highmountain Tauren? Also of high quality even if they have tattoos and antlers added, because the nature of the changes is small by comparison, so it’s hard to screw it up. Void Elves just feel more different because they have a more different coloration; several people have put BE skins on VE models, it’s literally the same model at the end.

I don’t think it’s a fringe opinion to say Nightborne were rushed; they weren’t planned as a playable race from the start, so they had to grab the playable NE model and warp it to make it resemble the NPC model they had done earlier. And with the result we see, its clear they didn’t have enough time to get them to the level they needed.
