You want more RPG choices and you inadvertently eliminate them.
A UNDEAD BLOOD DEATH KNIGHT now has to choose between being usable in their chosen content or align themselves with the fairy lords of the woods and sprinkle flowers, leaves, woodland creatures and sparkles on top of their blood plagues.
Seriously brain damage level of competence from the “dev team” aka lawyers and money counters.
The dk night fae ability needs to be nerfed into the ground. It’s way too op. No dk should go night fae. Necrolord or Venthyr are the only suitable dk covenants… I will die on this hill
I’m getting lucky and my good covenant is Night Fae which I had already planned on joining. The only sad thing is, my good covenant doesn’t do anything still…Like really Blizzard??? 1 essence font bolt for 2000 mana! That is crazy!!! At least the tree looks pretty. Its the only reason I use the night fae ability lol.
Edit:
I think our venthry ability is still only healing me. The MW venth ability is doing more damage than our WW spec lol.
Suck it up and just play what makes sense for your character aesthetically and theme wise. This is Blizzard. Powers will change if the revenue size change, and nerfs / buffs will happen. I expect most people will go through much of the expansion ignoring the abilities as the polish wears off.
I go Venthyr for the armor, story with Kael, and Door of Shadows.
Spoken like someone has never done anything remotely competitive.
There is nothing from stopping you doing your RP. Please educate me how it effects you if people you dont play with get to be the best they can be without wearing clown shoes?
Actually I got rank in the old PVP System, cleared MoP’s challenge armor multiple times, did the Mage Tower on most of my chars, a couple other things and… oh your a Mal’ganis player. Lol.
The lawyers and money counter have told me that I have reached the maximum number of like but I will be sure to try again in two hours.
It does seem odd but then again, you do have the choice to pick a different cult/covenant. You know the balancing will, as always, be an ongoing thing that changed by the week or month.
This guy’s gits it.
What IS looking to be best Covenant for MW Monk with a vested interest in Rising Mists?
*I notice your name from the Monk forums as I’ve been reading a lot lately and likely going to main MW as my healer for SLs.
Haha! I was leaning towards Fae Stomp anyways as it sounded the coolest for me thematically. Right on.
Yeah, I’m just burned out on Holy Pally as I’ve been maining it since BC. Nothing wrong, I’m not mad at holy Power or anything, I love the class just been kinda falling in love with MW lately, don’t know how to explain it. AND MW allows me to get my melee DPS/battle healer fix too!
But even if we pretended that all of the abilities did perfectly equal DPS, there is also the fact that the abilities have different effects and therefore influence play style. So what if “the one you want” still is at odds with what you want to get from a covenant? It’s super silly to lock these player power elements behind RPG elements.
Right, but the pros and cons should be apples vs apples, not apples vs oranges.
Like, it makes sense that choosing one covenant will give you an ability that makes you stronger at single target DPS, while a different player who made a different choice might be stronger at AoE.
But making players make a choice between play style for their character vs RPG elements is just bad game design. The two shouldn’t be linked together. Some will be lucky and the ability that they prefer will come with the covenant that offers the story and cosmetic elements they prefer, so their choice won’t be punishing. For others, they’ll have to chose one or the other, and the choice will be extremely punishing.
