[Night Elf Thread] Don't tell me to wait and see ever again

/offtop

Take a look someday. Might be a refreshing thing for a good (arguably) “story”. Plus From Software do the whole “mystery box” storytelling far better than WoW.

A decent place to start:

She also said that the “goody” alliance makes little sense, but.

I would say some twitter drama had effect on her reputation, but the book is considered to be among the best of WoW-related ones. Still, not the person to decide on the story direction.

There is no conspiracy needed.

  1. They have clear favourites. In the game which has so many thing different players like, giving a special treatment to some is a way to make things fall apart already.
  2. they do not get or do not care about what are the origins of the factions / races. Example of it was a Danuser interview where he called the alliance “family”. It’s the horde theme from pre-Cata days. The alliance identity is more or less that of Mereldar teaching. Justice / retribution (among other things) is not what can be summarized as “family”
  3. they treat the existing lore in a way like a bunch of modern creators do. Can be said about elves, naaru, draenei, Saurfang in BfA, and many other things:

“… needed me a certain way to make the ending effective”

No exactly the same situation. With Star Wars, the entire property had changed ownership which had already made the deicision to chuck the Expanded Universe out the airlock. S o anyone with half a brain knew that major major changes were unfolding as they wanted a new cast to become the center heroes which means they had to get rid of the old ones… inlcuding Skywalker.

The thing I mean is his phrase “… needed me a certain way to make the ending effective”. Which is somewhat in line with, for example, the horde acting the way they did in BfA, which was “needed” to make the dev story “work”, but is not what the players signed up for when chose the faction, potentially years ago.

When it comes to owners, well, current narrative team seems to be very different, so there might be some parallels drawn.

What was done to the expanded universe could be compared to the Danuser’s comment that there was not lore to build up the afterlives upon, so they “had to” work on the Shadowlands from scratch.

I do agree, it’s not quite the same, but IMO general ideas do fit both cases. And maybe point out some sort of bigger thing going on nowadays in popular media.

I think the OP needs to hold their horses until they are able to perceive with their eyes and discern visually.

NE and Worgen fans are tired of being Hold your horses, it’ll get better and when it doesn’t it, like we knew it wouldn’t, people will still insist we’re overreacting. It’s beyond tiring, and sylvanas getting redeemed is the nail in the coffin for many of us. I know so many who legit unsubbed due to trash/fan fiction tier everything has been concerning Sylvanas.

In short, we’re done waiting and seeing. :wolf:

That’s fine. As I’ve mentioned previously, I quit WoW a little over a month into BfA and only returned for Classic. I haven’t touched retail since. Perhaps a break is needed for some folks. I filled my game time with things like FO4 and Monster Hunter.

I recently installed The Old Republic again and been playing that for free. Might officially subscribe again, I’m legit enjoying my Imperial Agent, even though I just started one :wolf:

It’s not supposed to “get better”. This isn’t that kind of story. It’s a story where one conflict passes on to another. i.e. Endless War. That is EXACTLY what you signed up for when you decided to play a game with “Warcraft” in it’s title.

Incompetent and sloppy storytelling is NOT what I or anyone else signed up for. You might have, but that’s your problem. :wolf:

The stupidity is those that who think that there is any other choice other than to unsub.

I plan on it personally. The writing is entering terrible fan fiction tiers that would normally get someone fired from their job. :wolf:

Please unsub already kyalin.

Folks remind me of my husband. He has a habit of binge watching shows that he does nothing but complain about. I keep asking him why he watches material that he considers trash and ask himat some point when does “Hoping it will get better” finally wear thin? Actually, my ulterior motive is to get him to do more Torghast runs with me.

At this point I don’t know what Night Elf players want.

Their leader is being a straight-up gangster, and the events of Teldrassil have rippled out throughout the narrative in a way that has kept them prominent. Ever since the beginning of BfA, the Night Elves and what happened to them have not exactly been distant, and what happened to them looms over almost everything that’s happening now.

At least the Night Elves have something new to react to, all on the shiny silver platter of righteous justification, which is a fine thing to have because everything they do from this point on looks like a reasonable reaction to what has happened to them.

The Horde got a retread of the Darkspear Rebellion, except done a lot worse, and the looming question of ‘why bother’ if this is really what the Horde is gonna keep doing to itself. The Night Elves in comparison look like they have a direction to go in that that is positive, and the only concern I’d be worry about is whether or not Tyrande’s getting the villain bat next. I’d hate that.

This has only made the Night Elves more interesting to me, personally, and finally made me play the Night Elf I rolled and never touched again in Vanilla.

I’m a Forsaken player, and always have been. It’s not like I don’t understand how bad it feels when it looks like your favorite characters are getting a raw deal. The Forsaken lost their leader in Legion, that played out in a ton of bad things for them in Before the Storm, and now they’re just the punching bag for the Alliance because Sylvanas was an idiot-- except she was only pretend-- except she didn’t have her soul or something.

At least I understand everything about Tyrande as a character. I don’t understand all of the Night Warrior’s powers yet, and I don’t think anyone does. But I understand her, I understand Shandris, I understand Malfurion, and I understand why all the Night Elves in the story are hurt and doing what they’re doing.

Even if we don’t know where it ends, we understand why it’s happening. That’s an amazing place to be.

I have no problem with the actual content, that is fun to do, not gonna lie. I just don’t find the meta story to be engaging anymore, you know? :wolf:

And believe it not… That’s okay. You’re now essentially where the VAST MAJORITY of WOW players have been since this franchise started.

How Horrifying. You actually want him to commit suicide?

I seem to recall there being an abundance of wisps in the zones of northern Kalimdor, and other woodland themed zones in the vanilla and the early xpacs. Am I remembering correctly?

Apparently there are a large number of wisps in Darkshore, Hyjal, Felwood, Valsharah, etc. So not all elvish souls went to the Maw after all.
